The activating effect of aconite on the ATPase, with a given concentration of potassium in the medium, is increased by raising the sodium concentration but activity ratio is decreased. 4. The action of aconite on the ATPase activity is inhibited by calcium ions and the effect of inhibition is increased by small amounts of calcium but decreased by larger amounts. 5. The activating effect of aconite on the ATPase was not related to the sulfhydryl group of cysteine, the amino group of lysine, the hydroxyl group of threonine or the imidazole group of histidine. 6. The action of aconite on the ATPase activity is due to carboxyl group of the enzyme of NaK ATPase.

The action of ascorbic acid on the ATPase activity is stimulated by calcium ions and activity ratio is increased by raising the calcium concentration. 5. The activating effect of ascorbic acid on the ATPase activity was not related to the sulfhydryl group of cysteine or the hydroxyl group of threonine. 6. The activating effect of ascorbic acid on the ATPase activity is due to amino group and carboxyl group of the enzyme of NaK ATPase.

In recent years, an increasing interest in membrane technology has been observed in chemical and environmental industry. Membrane technology has advantages of low cost, energy saving and environmental clean technology comparing to conventional separation processes. Pervaporation is one of new advanced membrane technology applied for separation of azeotropic mixtures, aqueous organic mixtures, organic solvent and petrochemical mixtures. Sodium alginate composite membranes were prepared for the enhancement of long-term stability of pervaporation performance of water-ethanol mixture using pervaporation. Sodium alginate membranes were crosslinked with CaCl$_2$ and coated with polyelectrolyte chitosan to protect washing out of calcium ions from the polymer. The surface structures of PAN and hydrolysed PAN membrane were confirmed by ATR Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). A field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM; Jeol 6340F) operated at 15 kV. Concentration profiles for Ca in the membrane surface and membrane cross-section were taken by an energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyser (Jeol) attached to the field emission scanning electron microscopy (Jeol 6340F). Pervaporation experiments were done with several operation run times to investigate long-term stability of the membranes.

The following results were obtained 1. The activity of the NaK ATPase from red cell membrane is inhibited by anthraquinone and the concentration of anthraquinone for maximal inhibition is about 5mM. 2. The ratio of inhibition of NaK ATPase by anthraquinone, with a giving concentration of sodium in the medium, is increased by raising the potassium concentration. 3. The ratio of inhibition of NaK ATPase by anthraquinone, with a given concentration of potassium in the medium, is increased by raising the sodium concentration. 4. The action of anthraquinone on the NaK ATPase activity is inhibited by calcium ions and the ratio of inhibition is increased by small amounts of calcium but almost constant by larger amounts. 5. The inhibitory action of anthraquinone on the NaK ATPase activity was not related to the amino group of lysine, the hydroxyl group of threonine or the imidazole group of histidine. 6. The inhibitory action of anthraquinone on the ATPase activity is due to sulfhydryl group or the carboxyl group of the enzyme of NaK ATPase.
Microfiltration/ultrafiltration (MF/UF) Adsorptive polyamide-6 (PA-6) membranes were prepared using wet phase inversion process. The prepared PA-6 membranes are characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), porosity and swelling degree. In this study, the membranes performance has examined by adsorptive removal of copper ions from aqueous solutions in a batch adsorption mode. The $PA-6/H_2O$ membranes display sponge like and highly porous structures, with porosities of 41-73%. Under the conditions examined, the adsorption experiments have showed that the $PA-6/H_2O$ membranes had a good adsorption capacity (up to 120-280 mg/g at the initial copper ion concentration ($C_0$) = 680 mg/L, pH7), fast adsorption rates and short adsorption equilibrium times (less than 1.5-2 hrs) for copper ions. The fast adsorption in this study may be attributed to the high porosities and large pore sizes of the $PA-6/H_2O$ membranes, which have facilitated the transport of copper ions to the adsorption. The results obtained from the study illustrated that the copper ions which have adsorbed on the polyamide membranes can be effectively desorbed in an Ethylene dinitrilotetra acetic acid Di sodium salt ($Na_2$ EDTA) solution from initial concentration (up to 92% desorption efficiency) and the PA-6 membranes can be reused almost without loss of the adsorption capacity for copper ions. The results obtained from the study suggested that the $PA-6/H_2O$ membranes can be effectively applied for the adsorptive removal of copper ions from aqueous solutions.
