  • Recently, by increasing of devices which are sensitive to power quality, the deterioration of power quality has been accelerated. For this reason, the social and economic losses are increased. So not only correct measurement and evaluation, but also countermeasure for improvement of power quality is surely necessary for both electric power supplier and consumer. In this paper, the discrimination algorithm for events and variation occurred in distribution systems using S-transform is proposed. Firstly, we review for events and variations that occur in distribution system. Next, we simulate events and variations on various conditions using ElectroMagnetic Transient Program(EMTP). For the simulation, the IEEE 13 Node Test Feeder and KEPCO's distribution system is modeled. Finally, for the analysis, a modified wavelet transform known as S-transform is adopted to find out the characteristics of each events and variations.

  • Traditional quantitative approaches to comparative social policy research in welfare state have mostly focused on cross-national variations in social policy. More recently, they have attempted to account for disparities in the local provision of social policy. However, heavily relying on traditional theories of welfare state development (e.g., industrialism theory, power resource approach, and state-centric thesis), most of them seem to have explained the local variation from a central or national perspective, thereby completely ignoring the local perspective. Furthermore, their theoretical bases have been exclusively derived from the social context of post-war era. In tackling these issues, this study aims at localizing and updating the theoretical framework of local welfare policy in the post-industrial age. The framework provided in this study calls for a shift in the theoretical perspective towards more local and new approaches (e.g., new social risks, new public management and intergovernmental relations).

  • Social phobia is a mental disorder that triggers physical reactions, such as cold sweats, headaches, and panic attacks, as a result of anxiety about a particular situation. Individuals with social phobia are thought to be more sensitive to dental anxiety and may have difficulty visiting the dentist as a result. This study aimed to determine the relationship between social phobia and dental fear among college students, who are reported to have a high prevalence of social phobia. A total of 120 survey responses were analyzed. To investigate the variation in dental fear levels based on the level of social phobia, the total social phobia score was divided into two groups: 41 points or more, and 40 points or less. The disparity in dental fear scores was then analyzed using a t-test. The study found that the average score for dental fear was statistically significantly higher in the group with a total social phobia score of 41 points or more compared to the group with a total score of 40 points or less (p<0.05). Furthermore, the group that scored 41 points or higher on the social phobia scale reported experiencing symptoms such as feeling nauseous at the dentist (3.29 points), sweating upon entering the dentist (3.13 points), and feeling afraid when looking at the dentist (3.13 points). The score was high (p<0.05). Therefore, dental patients exhibiting anxiety symptoms require a comfortable treatment environment to alleviate dental fear, and safe, pain-free dental treatment techniques must be employed.

  • The changing trend of longevity from 1955 through 1985 and its interprovincal variation were studied with longevity rate as indicator. In order to detect the affecting factors of longevity rate, eleven urbanalizational, geographic-environmental, demographic and social-economic variables were employed to carry out multiple stepwise regression analysis. The data used for this study were from Population Census Reports 1955-1985 published by EPB and Year book of Public Health and Social Statistics 1986 published by Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and other reference. Subsequent to that longevity rate decreased during 1950's it has increased continuously by the yeat of 1980's. This trend was especially remarkable in the south area and the GIRI mountain area in Korea. The stepwise regression analysis shows that the longevity rates were significantly associated with the independent variables, and the dependent variables explained at the level of 93.7percent-99.9 percent. Longevity is a reflection of the demographic and socio-economic, environmental and health resourses factor etc., longevity problems cannot be dealt with in isolation. The possible research and services which could be provided by government will be discuss.

  • Purpose. This study is to find the degree of variations and trends of hospital services utilization for hypertensive disease, and have done the comparative analysis of the factors affecting occurring some variations. For this, this study uses the data for patients-survey and health-survey of a regional society by Korea Institute for Heath and Social Affairs in 2008; The regional units are classified into 160 of medium size medical service areas. Methods. I understand the level of variation by using index of Extremal Quotient(EQ) and Coefficient Variation(CV), and analyze critical factors influencing some differences in hospital services utilization by using multi-regression model. Results. The main results are followed:The first, in case of rate of hospital services utilization according to standarization of sex and age by small area, I find the variations of EQ 5.3 and CV 0.3; In Ho-nam, especially, the variation of high rank of 10 of age shows higher distribution. The second, the results analyzing the factors influencing on hospital services utilization by multi regression model are that a number of bed hospitals is significant positive relationship and EQ-5D of health behavior is significant negative one. Conclusions. To increase equity of hospital services utilization for hypertensive disease, this study requests the appropriate supply management of bed hospitals by region, efficient allocation of resources, and revitalization of the health promotion program.

  • Background: This study investigates the relationship of socioeconomic status with adverse birth outcomes (low birth weight, preterm birth) and the relationship of socioeconomic status with infant mortality, using the birth cohort in Korea, 1995-2010. Methods: 8,648,035 births from National Statistics Offics, 1995-2010 were studied with respect to social variation in adverse birth outcomes and infant mortality in Korea. The effect of social inequality was examined against adverse birth outcomes and infant mortality using multivariate logistic regression after controlling for other covariates. Results: Social inequality were observed in adverse birth outcomes: low birth weight (LBW, 1,500-2,499 g), very LBW (1,000-1,499 g), and extremely LBW (500-999 g) as well as moderately preterm birth (PTB, 33-36 weeks), very PTB (28-32 weeks), extremely PTB (22-27 weeks), and infant mortality. The effect of social inequality was higher among moderately LBW (1,500-2,499 g) and PTB (33-36 weeks) than very or extremely LBW and PTB. Conclusion: The social inequality in adverse birth outcomes (low birth weight and preterm) and infant mortality existed and increased in Korea from 1995 to 2010. The effect of maternal education on adverse birth outcomes as well as infant mortality was apparent in the study results. Especially, social inequailiy in infant mortality was greater among the sub-normal births (low birth weight [1,500-2,499 g] or preterm birth [33-36 weeks]), which suggests, social interventions should aim at more among the subnormal births. This study suggest that tackling inequality in births as well as infant mortality should be focused on the social inequality itself.

  • Due to the spread of unreliable online information on the social network services, the users are faced with a difficult problem for determining if the information is trustworthy or not. At present, the users should make a decision by themselves throughly for the trustworthiness of the information. Therefore, we need a way to systematically evaluate the trustworthiness of information on the social network services. In this paper, we design a trust index, called KTI (Korean Trust Index for SNS), as a criterion for measuring the trust degree of the information on the social network services. Using KTI, the users are readily able to determine whether the information is trustworthy. Consequently, we can estimate the social trust degree based on the variation of KTI. This paper derives the various factors affecting trust from the properties of the social network services, and proposes a model to evaluate the trustworthiness of information that is directly produced and distributed over the online network. Quantifying the trust degree of the information on the social network services allows the users to make efficient use of the social network.

  • This study used the qualitative research for deeply interviewing Chinese-Koreans who live and work in Dearim-dong area, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, collectively. The variation of recognition to the local community at the migration early and the present and their response for overcoming their pending issues are studied through this, To understand the reality and conflict they encounter, the effort for overcoming the pending issues, the inner change of their own community, their fixed direction and so on becomes the core variables for integrating them to our society. They have formed the enormous cluster and have been already developed as the minority group. They are doing 'the struggle for recognition' for being recognized from the dominant group and trying to approach the politics for overcoming the inferiority of power. Accordingly, the intervention of social welfare to this minority group should be a more active working to protect the fragmentation of our society which can be resulted from the increasing influx of the foreigners and be also an approach to mutual enlightenment for making our society adapt to the phenomena of multi-nations and multi-cultures and for accepting them as the population.

  • Today we live in the Hyper-Connected Society. The Hyper-Connected Society is the network society connected with hyper-connectivity. We know that this technical substructure of hyper-connectivity is the 4th industrial revolution. In this paper, I want to find the origin of the Hyper-Connected Society by clarifying the pattern of the staged development of industrial revolution. The variation pattern of technical revolution including industrial revolution can be summarized very simply as follows; (1) technical revolution ${\rightarrow}$ network revolution, (2) network revolution화 ${\rightarrow}$ the variation of social network, material revolution${\rightarrow}$spiritual revolution. The pattern of the staged development of industrial revolution is as follows. Therefore, in the aspects of network revolution, the origin of the Hyper-Connected Society is the railroad revolution in USA after 1840.
