The Effect of Social Network Service on Social Capital (소셜 네트워크 서비스가 사회적 자본에 미치는 영향)

  • With the development of Internet and transition to information society, social capital is expanding to online from the traditional offline context. Especially with the widespread of social network service(SNS) the number of SNS users is increasing sharply and the importance of online social capital has been more and more significant. Most studies on social capital focused on organizational aspects but few studies have payed attention to personal aspect. Empirical studies on the relation between SNS and social capital were seldom conducted in previous studies. Based on the theory of social capital this study targets on the relationship formed through SNS and analyzes on how the relationship affects the perceived social capital. In this study 'self-presentation', 'playfulness' and 'critical mass' are posited as the antecedent factors of 'SNS usage'. This study proposes a research model to examine the effect of 'SNS usage' on 'relationship reinforcement', 'relationship building' and 'perceived social capital'. According to the results of empirical analysis, 'self-presentation', 'playfulness' and 'critical mass' can generate significant positive influence on 'SNS usage'. It also confirms not only the effect of 'relationship reinforcement' and 'relationship building' formed through SNS on 'perceived social capital' but also relationship between the social capital formation and SNS usage. The outcome obtained in this study can be applied in developing SNS services.

The Effects of Social Supports on Psychosocial Well-being of the Unemployed (사회적 지지가 실직자의 심리사회적 안녕감에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated the relationship between social support and the well-being among the unemployed. Special attention was given to the empirical tests of the main effect and the stress buffering effect of social support on the psychosocial well-being and the practical implications in developing service strategies for the unemployed. Three-hundred-Sixty-nine(369) unemployed people in Choong-ju City and surrounding areas participated to the study. The results showed that both main and direct effects were partially supported by the data. In exploring the direct effect, social support from the family showed the strongest positive effect on the well-being of the unemployed. In the test of the stress buffering effect, the results showed a marginal buffering role of social support against the negative impacts of stress. Drawn from the results, the needs for further research in investigating the social support theory were suggested and possible implications for developing social work intervention strategies for the unemployed were identified.

Effects of Professional Competence on Happiness of Social Worker : Focused on Organizational Commitment Mediated Effect (사회복지사의 전문적 능력이 행복감에 미치는 영향 -조직몰입 매개효과를 중심으로-)

  • This study identified the relationship between professional competence of social workers, organizational commitment, and happiness, and then analyzed the effect of professional competence on the happiness of social workers and the mediating effect of organizational commitment. The survey for data collection was conducted among employees of social welfare facilities located in Gyeonggi Province. We analyzed the data from 203 participants who agreed to the purpose of this study. For the collected data, descriptive statistics, correlation, and multiple regression analyses were performed using SPSS 22.0. The data analyses showed that the professional competence of social workers was found to have a meaningful effect on the happiness and organizational commitment of social workers. Second, organizational commitment of social workers was found to have a meaningful effect on happiness. Third, organizational commitment was found to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between professional competence and the happiness of social workers. Based on the results, this study suggested that professional competence affects the happiness of social workers and also recommends practical plans that can improve organizational commitment.

The Effect of Social Support on Adolescents' School-Related Adjustments: The Mediation Effect of Life Satisfaction (사회적지지가 남녀청소년의 학교적응에 미치는 영향: 삶의 만족도의 매개효과)

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between social support, life satisfaction, and school-related adjustments of adolescents. The participants were 260 junior high school students (140 male and 120 female students) from the Seoul area. They completed questionnaires on social support, life satisfaction, and school-related adjustments. The collected data were analyzed using basic descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and a multiple regression analysis. Baron and Kenny's method was used and examined, and the Sobel test was performed to determine the mediating model's significance. It was adapted to SPSS ver. 19.0 for Windows. The major findings were as follows: first, social support (parents/teacher/friend) was positively correlated with the adolescents' school-related adjustment. Second, the adolescents' life satisfaction was also positively correlated with the adolescents' school-related adjustments. In addition, social support was positively correlated with life satisfaction. It was further found that the adolescents' life satisfaction tended to play a perfectly/partially mediating role between social support and school-related adjustment; that is, social support (parents/teacher/friend) was shown to have not only a direct effect, but also an indirect effect through the adolescents' life satisfaction, on the school-related adjustments. These results clearly indicated that adolescents' life satisfaction plays a crucial role in the relationship between social support and the adolescents' school-related adjustments.

The Effects of Parents' Neglect and Abuse on the School Adjustment in Adolescents : The Mediating Effects of Social Withdrawal (부모의 방임 및 학대가 청소년의 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향 : 사회적 위축의 매개효과)

  • In this paper, the effects of parental neglect and abuse on school adjustment mediated by social withdrawal in adolescents were examined using a sample of 2,163 second grade middle school students(1,096 boys and 1,067 girls) from the Korean Child and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) data set. All research variables were measured using self-reported questionnaires. They were analyzed by means of Structural Equation Modeling. The results indicated that parents' abuse had no direct effect, but there was an indirect effect on adolescents' school adjustment mediated by adolescents' social withdrawal. Parental neglect had a direct effect on adolescents' school adjustment and also had an indirect effect on adolescents' school adjustment mediated by social withdrawal. The results indicate that parental neglect is a more significant contributor than adolescents' social withdrawal on adolescents' school adjustment. The results of this study show that parenting attitude, more specifically parental neglect, tend to be more important factors on school adjustment compared to adolescents' psychological problems, such as social withdrawal in adolescence. Taken together, these findings suggest that interventions aimed at improving parental neglect and adolescents' social withdrawal need to be emphasized if adolescents are to better adjust to school life.

Effects of Self-Criticism on Social Anxiety among College Students: Focus on Moderating Effects of Self-Foriveness (대학생의 자기비난이 사회불안에 미치는 영향: 자기용서의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • This study examined the moderating effect of self-forgiveness on the relationship between self-criticism and social anxiety among male and female college students. This study included 441 college students (211 male and 230 female students) with an average age of 22.2. Pearson correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. As a result, the moderating effect of self-forgiveness on the relationship between self-criticism and social anxiety was significant for male students. A higher level of self-criticism tended to result in a higher level of social anxiety that was strengthened in the group of lower level of self-forgiveness versus a tendency for self-criticism to increase male social anxiety was weaker in the group with a higher level of self-forgiveness. However, the moderating effect of self-forgiveness was not significant in female students and only the main effect of self-criticism on social anxiety was significant. The results provide a basis to understand the psychological processes of social anxiety in college students. The results suggest the necessity to intervene and strengthen self-forgiveness as a protective factor to alleviate the negative effects of self-blame on social anxiety in male college students.

Impact of Social Exclusion Type and Presence of Others on On-going Purchase Intention When Purchasing Fashion Luxury Goods -Moderating Effect of Self-efficacy- (패션 명품 구매에 있어 사회적 배제 유형과 타인의 존재가 구매진행의도에 미치는 영향 -자기효능감의 조절효과-)

  • This study investigates the influence of social exclusion type and presence of others on consumers' on-going purchase intention when purchasing fashion luxury goods. This study also identifies the moderating role of self-efficacy in which the interaction effect of social exclusion type and presence of others on on-going purchase intention. For the experiment, 2(social exclusion type: being ignored vs being rejected)×2(presence of others: presence vs absence)×2(self-efficacy: high vs low) factorial design was used. The findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, the result showed that there was no difference in on-going purchase intention according to social exclusion type. Second, the result showed that there was a significant interaction effect between social exclusion type and presence of others. Third, the three-way interaction effect of social exclusion type, presence of others, and self-efficacy was statistically significant. The results of this study provide useful information on which direction is needed to mitigate negative consumer behavior caused by social exclusion at the service interface.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of human resource development policies and practices on social capital and organizational performance. To serve the purpose, we focused on the effects of communities of practice (CoP) to social capital and suggested best practices of CoP from the aspect of social capital. Specifically, we considered new kinds of social capital such as social innovation capital and social integration capital as well as traditional social capital classified into structural, relational, and cognitive capital, Where, social innovation and social integration capital represent corporate's social capacity to innovate and corporate social responsibility (CSR). And then we conducted a multiple case study on Yuhan-Kimberly, POSCO, and HIRA. From the result, we identified that CoP activities have a positive effect on social capital and organizational performance.

The Distribution Industry's Social Responsibility and Ethics Management: Effects on Corporate Trust and Loyalty

  • Purpose - This study aims to explore the effects of social responsibility activities and business ethics practices on corporate trust and loyalty in the context of a large retail distribution business. Research design, data, and methodology - The data collected was analyzed using PASW Statistics 18.0. In order to verify the demographic characteristics, frequency analysis was conducted on the data. Results - The results of the study were as follows. First, social responsibility activities had a significant effect on corporate trust. Second, both corporate social responsibility activities and business ethics practices had significant effects on loyalty. Third, corporate trust had a significant effect on loyalty. Fourth, corporate social responsibility activities and consumer protection activities had a partial mediation effect, while environmental protection activities and social contribution activities had complete mediation effects. Conclusions - This study clarified and explained the factors of corporate social responsibility activities and business ethics practices that customers value, and analyzed the influence of these factors on corporate trust and loyalty.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the structural relationship and confirm the effect of labor as a civil servant in charge of civil affairs how excessive social support and delayed tension affect psychological exhaustion. The results are as follow. First, as a result of analyzing the structural relationship between Emotional Labor, social support, perceived stress, and psychological exhaustion of Civil Affairs Officials, Emotional Labor of civil Civil Affairs Officials has a positive effect on social support, perceived stress, and psychological exhaustion. Social support had a significant negative effect on psychological exhaustion. Perceived stress was found to have a positive effect on psychological exhaustion. Second, as a result of soldering the labor effect of social support and involved tension in the relationship between labor and psychological burnout of public officials in charge of financial resources, a partial mediating effect was confirmed.The object should be used to first respond to and show the reinforcement of social support and the reduction of painted pressure, identified as labor variables, before farmers appear.
