The Purpose of this study is to investigate the father's role of childrearing appeared in Korean central daily newspapers. The method used for this study is the content analysis of the articles related with childrearing in Dong-a ilbo and Cho-seun ilbo from 1920's to 1970's. It is found that the articles dealt with childrearing were concerned on childrearing practices conformable with social change for industrial capitalization during twentieth century of Korea. These articles dealt with problems of practices in nurturing, teaching, diciplining and interfacing between home and institutional education of school. It is found that the father's role of childrearing were gender-nonspecipic.

The study was designed to examine the relationship between shyness and social behaviors such as interpersonal adjustment and peer acceptance. The subjects were 435 sixth-graders(221 boys and 214 girls) and their mothers and teachers. They completed questionnaires to rate the behavioral characteristics of the children. The main results showed that 1) shyness, interpersonal adjustment, and peer acceptance varied little as a function of sex and birth order of children, and 2) shyness was related negatively both to interpersonal adjustment and to peer acceptance.

Absolute poverty is redefined as biological existence level poverty and relative poverty is also redefinded as 'the state that relatively insufficient compared to the specific society's average living standard under the condition that basic needs on the biological existence level has been satisfied.' Then absolute poverty and relative poverty lies on the same welfare continuum. Therefore these two can be regarded as one unified concept. Theoretical bottom line of poverty is the biological existence level and ceiling is average income. Poverty line for the social policy is to be drawn between ceiling and floor. Using these standard lines three poverty bands are categorized : minimum subsistence level, minimum decency level.

The purpose of this study has to investigate the economic distress and consumption behavior changes of urban households. Data for this study were collected from 519 households who have resided in seoul area. The results showed that the income distress was higher than the employment distress. The variavles that influenced on income distress were mainly economic variables, while in the employment distress, social-demo variables were. According to the resets that investigated the changes of consumption behaviors with respect to the dimensions of behavioral consumption, the quantity and price directive consumption changed greatly. Finally socio-economic variables were affecting on consumption behavior through the economic distress directly and indirectly.

The purposes of this study are to figure out the labor and leisure of the rural couples through the analysis of the related literatures and to make some contributive suggestions for the higher quality of rural life. To solve the rural family's problems and to promote welfare reductive method of house work and farm-work active leisure-participation and other psyco-social approach etc. various methods are discussed.

This study intends to find the effects of children's stress level and coping behaviors on their stress symptoms. The subjects were 840 4-6th grade children in Seoul. The data were analyzed by frequencies, percentages, means, ANOVA, stepwise regression and Cronbach's α. The regression model explained 46% of children's stress symptoms which were affected by coping behaviors(emotional aggression, positive revaluation, seperation for emotional relaxation) and by stressors(children's social-life, individual factors, school-life).

This article reports on a study designed to investigate the nature of compulsive-like buying behavior among the normal urban housewives. A previously tested compulsive buying scale was administered to a sample of 566 urban housewives. As predicted by the hypotheses, compulsive buying tendencies correlate negatively with self-esteem and life satisfaction: positively with materialism, early consumption experience, one's susceptibility to social influence, advertising of women journal, irrational credit card usage. But age, education, and family income don't explain compulsive buying tendencies. Several other findngs are reported and discussed. Areas where further research should be done are suggested.

the purpose of this study is to investigate (1) the real life of urban employed husbands and their wives(2) the balance between labor force reproduction and the labor force consumption(3) and the share of family responsibility by analysis patterns of their time use. Data for 227 couples were gatherd from using structured questionnaire and time diary. (1) Because of Husbands' long labor time and employed wives' roleoverload their social-cultural time is too short which means the pattern of their time use are very unbalanced type. (2) Regardless of wives' employment status husbands' housework time is too short which means that family responsibility is scarcely shared.

The study investigates the stock market using emotion index calculated from SMD based on investors' emotion. In the VAR anlaysis, we find that the correlation between the KOSPI200 return and emotion score sum is highest in 2- or 3- day lag. This study concludes that explanatory power of the SMD emotion index is limited in explaining the Korean stock market yet.
