The Gamrotenghwa of the Choson Dynasty is a unique genre of buddhist painting in that the destiny of the dead souls and the guidance to nirvana are expressed in reality. More than 50 of the Gamrotenghwa are known to be present, and the lower part of the paintings includes a wide assortment of folk customary scenes reflecting the social life style of the time when the painting was drawn, such as difficulties in life. public life, punishment and war. Changes in the costume of the people shown on the customary scenes of the Gamrotenghwa according to the time based changes in painting style were investigated in this study. The results are summarized in three points. First, the costumes of bureaucrats showed a tendency of preservation without any major changes in the painting. On the other hand, costumes of public and entertainer in the scenes were very close to those worn by the people at that time. The realistic description of public life in the painting may establish the value of the Gamrotenghwa as the historical documents. Second, the costume of the people in the painting showed a dual structure as the social positions; bureaucrats wore various official hats, large coats and belts to expose their social prestige. while the general public wore simple and convenient clothing which is divided into shirt and pants. The dual structure of the costume in the painting is in well accordance with that of the later period of Choson dynasty, suggesting that the customary scenes in the painting represent the social life style of the period. Finally, the customary scenes in the Gamrotenghwa are very variegated. which shows a variety of beauty of wearing even though they look coarse in a sense. The diversity of wearing beauty in the picture may contribute to the recreation of the beauty of shape in the new design of Hanbok.
Background: To fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, many countries have implemented social distancing and lockdowns. We investigated the changes in the trauma patterns of emergency plastic surgeries in the midst of a pandemic. Methods: A retrospective review of the medical records of all patients treated for emergency plastic surgeries was performed at our hospital in Seoul. We conducted the analysis between March 1 and June 30, 2020, and compared the data obtained with that of the same period in 2019. We also investigated changes in trauma patterns according to the social distancing level from July 2020 to February 2021. Results: There was a total of 800 emergency plastic surgery patients from March to June 2020, which was less than the 981 in the corresponding period in 2019. The proportion of patients aged 7-17 years and ≥ 80 in 2020 showed a significant decrease. In 2020, patients presenting with facial trauma decreased and hand trauma, markedly laceration, increased significantly. In 2020, more injuries happened at home, whereas significantly fewer injuries happened on the streets. In 2020, slipping and sports injury decreased, whereas penetrating injury increased significantly. In the changes observed according to the social distancing level, there were significant differences in age classification, facial open wound, and the mechanism of injury. Conclusion: Social distancing has caused a change in emergency plastic surgeries. To ensure safe and appropriate treatment, strict epidemiologic workup and protective equipment are required.
Purpose: Age estimation is often used in the identification of living persons. Various methods are used for age estimation using teeth, and there are many studies on the methodology. But the study of changes in the social aspects of age estimation with the passage of times is still insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the age estimation cases in the social aspects and to investigate the changes of age estimation cases in Jeollabuk-do. Methods: From January 2008 to December 2015, 76 cases of age estimation were collected. The collected data were organized and analyzed. The distribution of patients by age and year, the difference between alleged and registered age, the purpose of age estimation, and regional distribution were examined. In addition, we compared the previous study which analyzed the age estimation cases in Jeollabuk-do from 2000 to 2007. Results: According to the distribution by age, the age distribution was the largest in the 50s and 60s, with 69.8%. The most reason to correct age was related to welfare benefits (38.2%), and most of the people who corrected for welfare benefits were over 50 years old. The age correction for purpose of welfare benefits existed every year during the study period. As the result of comparison with previous study, total number of age estimation cases was decreased very sharply, and distribution by age group was also changed. Conclusions: Changes in age estimation cases were observed when compared to the previous study. A significant decrease in the total number of age estimation cases was observed, but the number of age estimation in the 50s did not decrease. Although the total number of age estimation requests decreases, age estimation in the elderly are likely to persist. Thus, it is necessary to study new age estimation methods suitable for the elderly.
Patients diagnosed with cancer face mental problems such as alienation, isolation, anxiety about death and fear, recovering from psychological difficulties. In this study, a forest healing program was provided for cancer patients to recover from psychological stress, depression, social isolation and self-esteem caused by cancer and changes in salivary cortisol through psychological and emotional recovery were measured. From September 19 to November 28, 2017, a forest healing program composed of a total of 10 sessions, two hours per session was provided for 12 cancer patients in the Forest of Taegyo located in Yongin. Psychological tests were performed with Social Adaptation Self-evaluation Scale (SASS), Korean-version Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 18.0. The salivary cortisol level was measured along with the psychological tests and were analyzed by a specialized testing agency. The results of the analysis showed that the pre- and post-assessment score of SASS was 29.17 and 25.92, respectively, and that the pre- and post-assessment score of PSS was 30.50 and 23.92, respectively. The pre- and post-assessment score of BDI was 41.00 and 34.83, respectively, which showed significant differences. In addition, the pre- and post-assessment level of saliva cortisol was 3.13 and 1.68, respectively, showing a significant decrease. In short, the forest healing program was found to be effective in reducing physiological changes caused by social isolation and stress due to the emotional and psychological difficulties that the subjects who were diagnosed with cancer and were recovering from it have. In the future, it will be necessary to develop and implement a forest healing program by conducting a forest healing requirement survey on cancer patients.
In response to recent changes in gender equality and social awareness among female college students, we sought to investigate whether there were corresponding changes in their preferred fashion styles and items. A survey was conducted with 200 women in their twenties to determine whether they were aware of gender equality and social change, as well as their preferred fashion styles and items at both the time of college admission and the current time. Awareness of gender equality was divided into two factors: feminism and a perceived increase in women's social power. A significant difference was observed in the fashion styles of female college students in their twenties between the time of admission and the current time. Compared with the past, the preferred style has changed to gender-neutral rather than feminine, useful rather than aesthetics, character rather than fashion, sporty rather than elegance, and casual rather than formal. Preferred items included pants rather than skirts, sneakers rather than shoes, socks rather than stockings, long skirts rather than short skirts, and backpacks rather than handbags. The level of attention paid to campus attire per week decreased over time. No correlation was found between gender equality awareness and preferred fashion style, while feminism was correlated with preferred fashion items. The degree to which attention was paid to campus attire per week was correlated with feminism, but was not correlated with a perceived increase in womens' social power.
The purpose of this study is to perform an analysis on the design methods of the "UR Housing Stock Renewal Design Competition" for Hanahata No.27 Housing by the UR Renaissance Agency in Japan. The analysis is done by looking at the aspects of lifestyle, demographics, environment, and community changes. The results are as follows: 1) Since demographic changes are caused by low fertility, aging populations need the support of locally-based social welfare facilities of which the architectural aspect can be examined. 2) Changes in lifestyle, such as diversity of family composition, flexibility of work, and improvement of leisurely activities require residents to have public spaces and facilities 3) Since environmental changes caused by deteriorated housing need the conversion of awareness about housing estates as a social asset. 4) To revitalize the community, houses, public facilities, and communal outdoor spaces must be connected. The results of this study are expected to serve as clues to the future direction of sustainable conversion in Korea.
The purpose of this study is to investigate a causal relationship between the mode of production and change of rural society. While dominant theories of social change have stressed variation of contingencies and periodical contexts, this theoretical paper drives a new insight paralleling diverse theoretical arguments of each mode of production with rural and urban changes. Investigating the drifts of intellectual ideologies of the mode of production, we get through diverse paradigm shifts of the production accumulation and its trigger effects on rural change. More specifically, the present study investigates change of rural society by way of investigating such fluctuations of societal changes as ancient society, slavery society, feudal society, industrial society, post-industrial society, and information society. We find that transportation and communication technologies have had a key role in the changes, however, the effects of the technologies on social changes have been different between rural- and urban-society. While we take it for granted that flexible accumulation in post-industrial society and time-space compression and informatization in information society will reduce developmental gap between rural- and urban-society, we also found that there have been big differences of actual application of the technologies between theory and reality in each era of mode of production.
Posttraumatic growth (PTG) is the experience of positive change that occurs as a result of the struggle with highly challenging life crises. The need to understand PTG in relation to actual changes in an individual's life has recently been raised. Little is known about the role of social support in the experience of positive outcomes. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of perceived social support in enhancing PTG in cancer patients. This study involved 105 cancer patients. The data were collected using a questionnaire that determined the socio-demographic features, posttraumatic growth inventory (PTGI) and perceived social support. Participants reported relatively high levels of PTG and social support. Total perceived social support, support from family, and friends were significantly positive associated with the development of PTG among cancer patients. Accordingly, the social surroundings of the patient should be informed about the importance of social support and how it helps the patient; they should be made aware of necessity of social support.

With the rapid development of the Internet and the Mobile Internet, social communication based on the network has become a life style for many people. WeChat is an online social platform, for about one billion users, therefore, it is meaningful to study the spreading and evolution mechanism of the rumor on the WeChat social circle. The Rumor was injected into the WeChat social circle by certain individuals, and the communication and the evolution occur among the nodes within the circle; after the refuting-rumor-information injected into the circle, subsequently, the density of four types of nodes, including the Susceptible, the Latent, the Infective, and the Recovery changes, which results in evolving the WeChat social circle system. In the study, the evolution characteristics of the four node types are analyzed, through construction of the evolution equation. The evolution process of the rumor injection and the refuting-rumor-information injection is simulated through the structure of the virtual social network, and the evolution laws of the four states are depicted by figures. The significant results from this study suggest that the spreading and evolving of the rumors are closely related to the nodes degree on the WeChat social circle.
