A study on two dimensions of achievement motivation for job design (직무설계를 위한 성취동기의 이차원성에 관한 연구)

  • This study analyzes jow reciprocal relations between the temperament and motivation of managers interact. To know the relationships between achievement motivation and affiliation motivation, this study examines whether or not affiliation-achievement motivation and nonaffiliation-achievement motivation mani- fested in manager group of Jpapn are present in this tested group. Data were obtained by testing 578 male- managers employed in domestic enterprise with Y-G Character and Motivation Test. Structure Vector obtained and applied Canonical Correlation Analysis method is applied as a means to interpret it. From the study, the following results are obtained: First, the affiliation and nonaffiliation-achievement motivation appear in domestic sampled group. Second, the manager with affiliation-achievement motivation is shown to have extroversive character, high-social accommodation, high-emotional stability, whereas the one with nona- ffiliation-achievement motiviation to have introversive character, somewhat low-social accommodation and low- emotional stability. Whether or not these results reappear in the bilingual group remains to be studied further.

Group-affiliated Firms and Corporate Social Responsibility Activities

  • Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is one of the strategies for managing firms' business activities but may have heterogeneity depending on ownership structures. This study investigates the association between group-affiliation and CSR activities. Drawing on a theory from the prior research, this study predicts that group-affiliated firms are less likely to invest on CSR activities. For instance, prior research finds that controlling shareholders expropriate the values of minority shareholders. As one of the motivations of investing on CSR activities is the harmonization among the stakeholders, it leads to the prediction that firms controlled by large shareholders are less likely to engage in CSR activities. Second, group-affiliated firms under poor financial performance benefit from other group members through sharing their financial resources. Thus, there is less incentive for managers of group-affiliated firms to increase their financial performance by conducting CSR. By leveraging firms listed in Korean stock market and CSR score from Korea Economic Justice Institute, the result shows that the group-affiliation is negatively related to CSR activities. The result is consistent in case of applying propensity score-matched sample. Based on the findings of this study, this paper contributes to the related literature by showing the significant association between group-affiliation and CSR decisions.

  • This paper formalizes a special type of social networking knowledge, which is called "workflow performer-role affiliation networking knowledge." A workflow model specifies execution sequences of the associated activities and their affiliated relationships with roles, performers, invoked-applications, and relevant data. In Particular, these affiliated relationships exhibit a stream of organizational work-sharing knowledge and utilize business process intelligence to explore resources allotting and planning knowledge concealed in the corresponding workflow model. In this paper, we particularly focus on the performer-role affiliation relationships and their implications as organizational and business process intelligence in workflow-driven organizations. We elaborate a series of theoretical formalisms and practical implementation for modeling, discovering, and visualizing workflow performer-role affiliation networking knowledge, and practical details as workflow performer-role affiliation knowledge representation, discovery, and visualization techniques. These theoretical concepts and practical algorithms are based upon information control net methodology for formally describing workflow models, and the affiliated knowledge eventually represents the various degrees of involvements and participations between a group of performers and a group of roles in a corresponding workflow model. Finally, we summarily describe the implications of the proposed affiliation networking knowledge as business process intelligence, and how worthwhile it is in discovering and visualizing the knowledge in workflow-driven organizations and enterprises that produce massively parallel interactions and large-scaled operational data collections through deploying and enacting massively parallel and large-scale workflow models.

Effect of Personality and Social Motive on Franchise Customers' Citizenship Behavior

  • Purpose - This study focuses on the voluntary performance of franchise customers as a result of inherent social motives. It examines the interplay between traits and motives, and their influence on customer citizenship behavior (CCB). Research design, data, and methodology - Empirical evidence from the responses of 288 university students, validates that individual traits are related to social motives, which provides a basis for CCB. The results suggest that social motives do influence an individual's intention to provide feedback, advocate, help, or tolerate. Structural Equation Modeling using AMOS 22 was employed to test the concept. Results - This research illustrates that extraversion has a dominant influence on affiliation motive, and agreeableness is a strong predictor of the altruism motive among franchise customers. Conclusion - All three traits have positive influence on the power motive. Power and altruism motives were found to be the main determinants of CCB in a social setting. The power motive was a better predictor of advocacy and tolerance. The altruism motive significantly predicted helping and tolerance. Feedback was only positively predicted by the affiliation motive.

A Study of the Attitudes of Nursing Students toward Their Clinical Affiliation in a Mental Hospital (정신과간호 실습에 대한 간호 학생들의 태도 조사연구)

  • (Directed by Professor Hong, Shin Yong) Today, over seventy five Percent of the schools of nursing in Korea Provide a psychiatric experience in the basic curriculum. The psychiatric presents numerous major problems of adjustment to the student. The importance of positive attitudes toward the nursing care of psychiatric patients is recognized by the nursing profession. The purpose of this study was to determine the expressed attitudes of fifty-three nursing students toward their psychiatric affiliation. An attempt, also, was made to determine what implications these attitudes revealed relative to future program planning for students during the psychiatric nursing affiliation. A questionnaire, a Korean translation of the "psychiatric Nursing Attitude Questionnaire" by Milder Elizabeth Fletcher, was administered to fifty-three nursing students from three schools of nursing in Seoul, Who had completed a four-week psychiatric affiliation in a large mental hospital during Mar. 19, 1973 to May 19, 1973. The questionnaire of 100 statements was administered in the following way: (1) Part 1, Preconceptions. was. given in individual conferences with each subject, during the first few days of their affiliation, and again during the final week of the affiliation. The responses to Part Ⅰ were oral. (2) Part Ⅱ , Expectations, Part Ⅱ, Personal Relations, Part Ⅳ, Personal Feelings, and Part V , Attitudes and Activities of Patients were given to all of the subjects in a group meeting during the second week of the affiliation, and again. during the fourth week at the termination of the affiliation. Responses to Parts B, B, n, and f, wire written. Each of the 100 statements of the questionnaire was considered to be either Positive or Negative. A favorable response was assigned the Positive value of land an unfavorable response was assigned the Negative value of O. The coefficient of correlation was computed between the two sets of scores for the fifty-three nursing students., The mean score, the standard deviation, and the differences in the means on each of the five parts of the questionnaire were computed and the relationships calculated by a t-test. The results. of the study were as follows: 1. There was no significant correlation between the two sets of scores for the fifty-three nursing students during the four-week psychiatric affiliation. (r=573) 2. There was no significant difference in the mean scores between the first and final tests for any of the five parts of the questionnaire. 3. The Part.1, Preconceptions, data indicated nursing students enter the psychiatric affiliation with certain attitudes and preconceptions toward tile psychiatric affiliation which affect their psychiatric nursing experience, 4. The Part Ⅰ, Expectations, data indicated inappropriate expectations of students related to lack of experience, Lack of pre-psychiatric affiliation orientation, lack of social understanding, and feelings of insecurity. 5. The Part Ⅲ, Personal relations, data indicated some students have negative attitudes in personal relations with normal people in respect to psychological security and social responsibilities. 6. The Part Ⅳ, Personal feelings, data indicated nursing students have psychological insecurity & inappropriateness. 7. The Part Ⅴ, Attitudes and activities of patients, data indicated nursing students have negative attitudes of fear and frustration due to the psychotic behavior of certain patients in certain situations. 8. The data indicated preconceptions are predominate in unfavorable attitudes of students toward psychiatric nursing affiliation. Further researches indicated in the following areas: 1. Because of the limited number of students in this study, similar studies should be performed with larger groups for further validation of the results. 2. Because of the findings concerning the influence of the opinions of people in close contact with the students, similar studies of the attitudes of the staff in nursing schools, attitudes of graduate nurses and attitudes of the public should be done to determine weakness and strengths of present programs.

  • Today, over seventy five percent of nursing in Korea provide a psychiatric experience in the basic curriculum. The psychiatric affiliation presents numerous major problems of adjustment to the student. The Importance of positive attitude toward the nursing care of psychiatric patients is recognized by the nursing profession. I have fined out the unfavorable attitude of non collegiate nursing students toward psychiatric nursing affiliation by previous research. This study was undertaken in response to a felt need to explore the use of several devices which might yield information about attitudes toward psychiatric nursing as a basis for future planning of the program offered at a selected hospital. This study is designed to meet the following objectives; (1) In order to find out the expressed attitudes of fifty·three collegiate nursing students toward their psychiatric affiliation. (2) To compare responses given by selected group of collegiate and non collegiate nursing students to same questionnaire (3) To determine the relationship between the attitudes of nursing students toward psychiatric nursing and the type of instructions where experience was obtained. A questionnaire, a Korean translation of the "Psychiatric Nursing Attitude Questionnaire" by Moldered Elizabeth fletcher, was administered to fifty-three collegiate nursing students who had completed a four-week psychiatric affiliation in a S hospital psychiatric ward during May 7, 1973 to Dec. 16, 1973. - The questionnaire of 100 statements was administered in the following way; (1) Part Ⅰ, Preconceptions, was, given in individual conferences with each subject, during the first few days of their affiliation, and again during the final week of affiliation. The Part Ⅱ, Expectations, data indicated more appropriate expectations of collegiate nursing students related to pre psychiatric affiliation orientation and sufficient theory learning than non-collegiate nursing students. 5. The Part Ⅲ, Personal relations, data indicated some students have negative attitudes in personal relations with normal people in respect to psychological security and social responsibilities. 6. The Part Ⅳ, Personal feelings, data indicated nursing students have psychological insecurity & inappropriateness. 7. The Part V, Attitudes and activities of patients, data indicated collegiate nursing students have more positive attitudes to the psychotic behavior of certain situations due to sufficient theory learning. 8. The data indicated collegiate·nursing students have more positive attitude than non-collegiate nursing students. 5. A Social Motivation-aware Mobility Model for Mobile Opportunistic Networks

  • In mobile opportunistic networks (MONs), human-carried mobile devices such as PDAs and smartphones, with the capability of short range wireless communications, could form various intermittent contacts due to the mobility of humans, and then could use the contact opportunity to communicate with each other. The dynamic changes of the network topology are closely related to the human mobility patterns. In this paper, we propose a social motivation-aware mobility model for MONs, which explains the basic laws of human mobility from the psychological point of view. We analyze and model social motivations of human mobility mainly in terms of expectancy value theory and affiliation motivation. Furthermore, we introduce a new concept of geographic functional cells, which not only incorporates the influence of geographical constraints on human mobility but also simplifies the complicated configuration of simulation areas. Lastly, we validate our model by simulating three real scenarios and comparing it with reality traces and other synthetic traces. The simulation results show that our model has a better match in the performance evaluation when applying social-based forwarding protocols like BUBBULE.

An Estimated Closeness Centrality Ranking Algorithm for Large-Scale Workflow Affiliation Networks (대규모 워크플로우 소속성 네트워크를 위한 근접 중심도 랭킹 알고리즘)

  • A type of workflow affiliation network is one of the specialized social network types, which represents the associative relation between actors and activities. There are many methods on a workflow affiliation network measuring centralities such as degree centrality, closeness centrality, betweenness centrality, eigenvector centrality. In particular, we are interested in the closeness centrality measurements on a workflow affiliation network discovered from enterprise workflow models, and we know that the time complexity problem is raised according to increasing the size of the workflow affiliation network. This paper proposes an estimated ranking algorithm and analyzes the accuracy and average computation time of the proposed algorithm. As a result, we show that the accuracy improves 47.5%, 29.44% in the sizes of network and the rates of samples, respectively. Also the estimated ranking algorithm's average computation time improves more than 82.40%, comparison with the original algorithm, when the network size is 2400, sampling rate is 30%.

An Activity-Performer Bipartite Matrix Generation Algorithm for Analyzing Workflow-supported Human-Resource Affiliations (워크플로우 기반 인적 자원 소속성 분석을 위한 업무-수행자 이분 행렬 생성 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose an activity-performer bipartite matrix generation algorithm for analyzing workflow-supported human-resource affiliations in a workflow model. The workflow-supported human-resource means that all performers of the organization managed by a workflow management system have to be affiliated with a certain set of activities in enacting the corresponding workflow model. We define an activity-performer affiliation network model that is a special type of social networks representing affiliation relationships between a group of performers and a group of activities in workflow models. The algorithm proposed in this paper generates a bipartite matrix from the activity-performer affiliation network model(APANM). Eventually, the generated activity-performer bipartite matrix can be used to analyze social network properties such as, centrality, density, and correlation, and to enable the organization to obtain the workflow-supported human-resource affiliations knowledge.

The Effect of Ethnic Identification and Social Group Affiliation on Body Image Satisfaction among Asian-American College Students

  • This study focuses on the relationship between ethnic identity of Asian-Americans and their appreciation of their ethnic body features, based on reference group theory. A convenience sample of 60 male and 52 female students from various Asian ethnicities attending a mid-western university was used for the study. A 2 (gender) by 2 (ethnic identification) by 2 (socializing group) analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) on body image satisfaction as dependent variable and Body Mass Index score as a covariate was conducted. A significant main effect of ethnic identification was found, which indicates the more respondents identified with their ethnic group, the more likely they were to be satisfied with their appearance. The social group affiliation main effect was not significant. The impact of ethnic identification was significant only for those respondents who socialize more with Americans than with Asians. The results support the idea that one's ethnic group functions as a reference group, which influences body image appraisals.
