  • In recent years, small mobile devices called personal mobility or smart mobility have attracted attention. Personal mobility refers to electric-driven personal transportation that can travel at close range and medium distance, including small electric vehicles, electric bicycles, electric motorcycles and electric scooters. Most of the electric scooters used in Korea are mainly imported from China. This is due to the fact that the price competitiveness of major components of electric scooters is owned in China. At this point, the domestic research direction is preferable for the composition and design of the electric scooter body rather than cost reduction for the components. In this study, we propose a new model of portable folding structure that is easy to use for electric scooters, which are personal vehicles using electric energy. We also made a prototype for practical use.

  • In this paper, we propose the enhanced network-based mobility management protocol, called enhanced proxy mobile ipv6 (E-PMIPv6), which can provide mobile nodes (MNs) with a fast and efficient mobility service in PMIPv6 domain. The proposed scheme can provide a fast and efficient mobility service to MNs and also the strength of network scalability and stability to an access network by proposing the dynamic virtual hierarchical network architecture. In addition, the pre-authentication procedure for an MN, based on the information of neighbor mobile access gateway (MAG) list in the enhanced-policy server (E-PS), is proposed to support seamless handover by reducing MN's handover latency. Through performance evaluations of numerical analyses and simulations, we have confirmed and verified the superiority of the proposed scheme compared to the conventional proxy mobile ipv6 (PMIPv6).

  • The number of elderly people worldwide is rapidly increasing and the mobility handicapped suffering from inconvenient public transportation service is also increasing. In Korea and abroad, various policies are being implemented to provide high-quality transportation services for the mobility handicapped, and budget support and investment related to mobility facilities are being expanded. The mobility handicapped spends more time for transit transfer than normal users and their satisfaction with transit service is also lower. There exist transfer inconvenience points of the mobility handicapped due to various factors such as long transfer distances, absence of transportation facilities like elevators, escalators, etc. The purpose of this study is to find transfer inconvenience points for convenient transit transfer of the mobility handicapped using Smart card Big data. This study process traffic card transaction data and construct transfer travel data by user groups using smart card big data and analysis of the transfer characteristics for each user group ; normal, children, elderly, etc. Finally, find transfer inconveniences points by comparing transfer patterns between normal users and the mobility handicapped. This study is significant in that it can find transfer inconvenience points for convenient transit transfer of the mobility handicapped using Smart card Big data. In addition, it can be applicated of Smart card Big data for developing public transportation polices in the future. It is expected that the result of this study be used to improve the accessibility of transit transportation for mobility handicapped.

  • This study is to explore the factors that may affect the social adoption diffusion of innovative technology, focusing on smart mobility. It reviewed the literature on theory of social acceptance-diffusion and technology adoption model of innovative products, set up structural equation model that includes the causes and effects of perceived usefulness(the nexus among influences, perceived usefulness and purchase intention) and empirically tested the relationship. The survey, covering 534 non-users, was conducted from August 1, 2016 through August 12, 2016. The results show that compatibility and relative advantage significantly positively affect adoption intention through perceived usefulness, and that communication significantly negatively affect. However, complexity and service quality do not have significant positive effects on perceived intention and purchase intention. Some implications to promote social acceptance of smart mobility based on the results of the study are offered.

  • This study examines the mobility of the disadvantaged population groups in terms of public transportation using the 2014 smart card data in Seoul, Korea. Particularly, we focus on the disadvantaged population such as senior group, junior group, and low-income population group. Based on the spatial distributions of public transportation mobility levels and the disadvantaged population groups, we identify specific areas where public transportation service should be improved for the disadvantaged population. As a result, we identify 15 administrative-dongs where the ratio of the disadvantaged population is high while the mobility index of public transit is low. The main contributions of this study are as follows. First, we use the smart card data which contains the information of actual trip made by individuals and develop the evaluation process of urban mobility for the disadvantaged population groups. Second, we identify the specific areas where public transportation service should be improved for the different group of the disadvantaged population. Lastly, we discuss policy implications to improve the urban mobility of the disadvantaged population.

  • In this study, a novel composite was fabricated by adding the Hafnium diboride (HfB2) to conventional WC-Co cemented carbides to enhance the high-temperature properties while retaining the intrinsic high hardness. Using spark plasma sintering, high density (up to 99.4%) WC-6Co-(1, 2.5, 4, and 5.5 wt. %) HfB2 composites were consolidated at 1300℃ (100℃/min) under 60 MPa pressure. The microstructural evolution, oxidation layer, and phase constitution of WC-Co-HfB2 were investigated in the distribution of WC grain and solid solution phases by X-ray diffraction and FE-SEM. The WC-Co-HfB2 composite exhibited improved mechanical properties (approximately 2,180.7 kg/mm2) than those of conventional WC-Co cemented carbides. The high strength of the fabricated composites was caused by the fine-grade HfB2 precipitate and the solid solution, which enabled the tailoring of mechanical properties.

  • International attempts to smuggle narcotics and explosives using ship or aircraft cargoes are on the rise. With the recent increase in the number of detection cases of narcotics and explosives in Korea, it is important to detect dangerous material (narcotics and explosives) through container searches at ports and airports, which are the main routes. This paper proposes a technique to detect dangerous material in cargo containers using the sampled output signal of ion mobility spectroscopy (IMS). The proposed technique estimates parameters such as a threshold, a window length, and a noise level for ion detection of the target dangerous material by using known materials in the initialization stage. The estimated parameters are used to detect the ions of the dangerous target material inside the containers. The proposed technique can be applied when the peak value of the IMS signal and the ion mobility are varying due to container environments.

  • With the recent emergence of smart tourist cities, premium mobility is being considered an important means of transportation in the tourism. However, there has been insufficient research conducted on the experience of premium mobility among its users. Accordingly, this study used CIT to analyze the components of the user experience of customers who used premium mobility. In order to specifically identify the factors that make up the premium mobility experience, 366 cases of satisfaction and 13 cases of dissatisfaction were collected through a total of 273 online surveys. As a result of the study, based on the customer's experience using premium mobility, CIT was applied to derive 6 categories and 9 sub-factors that constitute the perception of premium mobility. In particular, this study is different from existing studies in that convenience was added as a new category out of the 6 categories, and wide ride comfort and high price were derived as new sub-factors among the 9 sub-factors. Because of this, it has academic significance. Therefore, if scales suitable for quantitative research are developed based on the derived constructs, they could be widely applied to various topics related to premium mobility in the tourism field.
