  • A method of modeling the Smart Power IC is presented in this paper, which is based on the IC's typical operation characteristics and small signal frequency response data. Using the least square identification, the IC's dynamic mathematical model, which is expressed as transfer function, can be synthesized from the experimentally obtained gain and phase data. The practicability and effectiveness of the method are verified by means of experiments.

  • This paper presents the framework for analysis of small-signal stabili1ty. In this framework the equilibrium points of system DAE model are traced using continuation method and instability points are determined on the solution path. Especially Implicit shift QR-modified ARnoldi method is utilized to calculated the rightmost eigenvalues. ISPS measure is utilized to determine critical parameters.

  • In this paper, a three level duty cycle controlled half bridge LLC converter for EV charger application is presented. The topology and operating regions of the converter are discussed. The equations of the converter are derived in time domain. A small signal model of the converter is developed by perturbation and linearization of the steady state model about their operating point using Extended Describing function.

  • Currently in Japan, the use of the small wind turbine is an upward trend. There are already many well established small wind turbine generators in use and their various failures have been reported. The most commonly sighted failure is blade damage. Thus the research purpose was set to develop a simple failure diagnostic system, where an Acoustic Emission (AE) signal was produced from the failure part of a blade which was measured by AE sensor. The failure diagnostic technique was thoroughly examined. Concurrently, the damage part of the blade was imitated, the AE signal was measured, and a FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) analysis was carried out, and was compared with the output characteristic. When one sheet of a blade was damaged 40mm or more, the level was computed at which failure could be diagnosed.

  • In Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A), small cell enhancement(SCE) has been developed as a cost-effective way of supporting exponentially increasing demand of wireless data services and satisfying the user quality of service(QoS). However, there are many problems such as the transmission rate and transmission quality degradation due to the dense and irregular distribution of a large number of small cells. In this paper, we propose a clustering based interference management scheme in dense small cell network. We divide the small cells into different clusters according to the reference signal received power(RSRP) from user equipment(UE). Within a cluster, an almost blank subframe(ABS) is implemented to mitigate interference between the small cells. In addition, we apply the power control to reduce the interference between the clusters. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio(SINR), throughput, and spectral efficiency of small cell users. Eventually, proposed scheme can improve overall cell performance.

  • It is shown that the SSB modulated signal has smaller chromatic-dispersion induced penalty than the DSB modulated signal only when the accumulated dispersion is large. When the accumulated dispersion is small, the SSB modulated signal has larger dispersion penalty than the DSB modulated signal. Therefore, if one builds a system with very low dispersion penalty, SSB modulation may end up with a larger dispersion penalty.

  • In ultra-dense heterogeneous networks, the amount of interference from small-cell base stations(SBS) to macro-cell user equipments (MUEs) increases significantly as the number of SBSs increases and it causes the MUEs to decrease the signal-to-interference and noise ratio(SINR) and system capacity. In this paper, we propose a small-cell based cooperative multi-point(CoMP) communication scheme that can guarantee the performance of MUEs even when the number of SBSs increases. In the proposed scheme, MUEs first find SBSs that give signal strength equal to or greater than a given SINR threshold and then they are served by different numbers of the selected SBSs using CoMP to improve the performance of MUEs. Simulation results show that the proposed small-cell based CoMP scheme outperforms other interference management or CoMP schemes in terms of the SINR and system capacity of MUEs.

  • We report amplification of a small signal in a diode-pumped Cs vapor cell with 500 torr of ethane buffer gas, in the low-pump-power regime of 200 mW or less. For efficient amplifier operation, the pump and signal beams were coupled to a single-mode optical fiber, and completely overlapped in the Cs vapor cell. We investigated the amplification of the small signal according to cell temperature, signal power, and pump power. An amplification factor of 56 was achieved under the conditions of cell temperature of $115^{\circ}C$, signal power of 0.1 mW, and pump power of 200 mW.

  • The paper presents the effects of output-coupling power and small signal gain of selenium vapour multiline laser by discharge of either to $^4$He or $^3$He. The purity of the He gas was improved with a special He-fille.. The result shows that compared with those of $^4$He, the output-coupling power and small-signal gain of $^3$He increase in the most of the lines. Especially, the small-signal gain of $^3$He for the strong lines (497.6 nm, 499.3 nm, 506.9 nm, 517.6 nm, 522.8 nm, 530.5 nm) lies about 30% higher than that of $^4$He, and the output-coupling power from doubles to triples.

  • The small signal analyzer for the stationary drift-diffusion equation is developed. The slotboom variables of the potential, electron and hole concentrations for the response of applied small signal are defined and the stationary drift-diffusion equation is linearlized on DC operation point by $S^3A$ method. Frontal solver, which is used to solve the global matrix, progresses the accuracy of the solution in high frequency and minimizes the requirement of the memory. The simulations are executed on the structure of 3 dimensional N'P junction diode and 2 dimensional n-MOSFET to verify the proposed algorithm. The average relative errors of the conductance and the capacitance compared with MEDICI are about 26% and 0.67 for N'P junction diode and 7.75% and 2.24% for n-MOSFET. The simulation by the proposed algorithm can analyze the stationary drift-diffusion equation for applied small signal in high frequency region about 100GHz.
