This study was considered to occur the local wall thinning at elbow which is flowing the steam and high-pressure water of high-temperature. The angle of elbow is ${\Theta}=45^{\circ}$ and $67.545^{\circ}$. The damage behaviors of inner or outer wall thinning elbow under internal pressure were calculated by FEA(finite element analysis). We compared the simulated results by FEA with experimental data. The FEA results are as follows: In the FEA results of three types of wall thinning ratio, the circumferential and longitudinal stresses show the similar values regardless of the angle of elbow, respectively. The circumferential strain was greater at elbow of small angle, but the longitudinal strain was nearly same. The FEM stress of outer wall thinning elbow was slightly higher than that of the inner wall thinning elbow, and strain was also slightly higher. In the experiments, the circumferential strain was increased with the increase in the internal pressure, and increased rapidly on about 0.2% of strain. The longitudinal strain was small. The strain at break was much smaller than 0.2%. In the relation between pressure and eroded ratio, the criteria that can be used safely under operating pressure and design pressure were obtained. The results of FEA were in relatively good agreement with those of the experiment.
Anisotropy of stiffiness, from extremely small strains to post-failure strains, of isotropically consolidated air-pulviated sands in plane strain compression was studied by using the newly developed instrumentation for small strain measurements. Seven types of sand of the world-wide origins were tested, which have been extensively used for research purposes. Stress-strain relationships for a wide range of strain from about 0.0001% to 10% were obtained with measuring axial and lateral strains locally free from the effects of bedding and membrane penetration errors at the specimen boundaries. It was found that the maximum shear modulus Gmax was irrespective of the angle $\delta$of the $\sigma$1 direction relative to the bedding plane. However, the normalized Gmax was varied with the types of sand. Furthermore, the dependency of the strain and stress level on the stiffness increased as decreased.
In the present article, functionally graded small-scaled plates based on modified strain gradient theory (MSGT) are studied for analyzing the nonlinear bending and post-buckling responses. Von-Karman's assumptions are applied to incorporate geometric nonlinearity and the first-order shear deformation theory is used to model the plates. Modified strain gradient theory includes three length scale parameters and is reduced to the modified couple stress theory (MCST) and the classical theory (CT) if two or all three length scale parameters become zero, respectively. The Ritz method with Legendre polynomials are used to approximate the unknown displacement fields. The solution is found by the minimization of the total potential energy and the well-known Newton-Raphson technique is used to solve the nonlinear system of equations. In addition, numerical results for the functionally graded small-scaled plates are obtained and the effects of different boundary conditions, material gradient index, thickness to length scale parameter and length to thickness ratio of the plates on nonlinear bending and post-buckling responses are investigated and discussed.
The possible protective effects of highly zinc-containing yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, FF-10 strain, isolated from tropical fruit rambutan on acute alcoholic liver injury in rats were evaluated. Zinc concentration in this strain was 30.6mg%. The activities of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and $\gamma$-glutamyl transpeptidase ($\gamma$-GTP) were highly increased when alcohol was treated, relative to the normal rats. Also, a highly significant increase in the blood alcohol and acetaldehyde levels by alcohol treatment was observed. Administration of FF-10 strain markedly prevented alcohol-induced elevation of the activities of serum ALT, AST, and $\gamma$-GTP, and the levels of blood alcohol and acetaldehyde, and these reduced levels reached to that of normal rats. As compared with alcohol treated control rats, the FF-10 strain supplementation showed highly decreased the triglyceride concentration in serum. Alcohol treatment induced the marked accumulation of small lipid droplets, hepatocytes necrosis, and inflammation, but FF-10 strain administration attenuated to alcohol-induced accumulation of small lipid droplets and hepatocyte necrosis in the liver. Therefore, the current finding suggests that zinc-enriched yeast FF-10 strain isolated from tropical fruit rambutan may have protective effect against alcohol-induced hepatotoxicity.

In conventional SCC susceptibility test, there are constant strain test, constant load test, slow strain rate test(SSRT) and K$_{ISCC}$ test. Among them, the SSRT method is much more aggressive in producing SCC than the other tests, so that the test time of it is considerably reduced. But this SSRT method has mostly been worked using the uniaxial tensile specimen untill now. Therefore, the SSRT method using the tensile specimen(Ten-SSRT) has much difficulty in SCC susceptibility evaluation of a localized region like weldment and the advantage material of high order. Recentely, the small punch(SP) test method using miniaturized small specimen is the very effective test method for fracture strength evaluation of a localized region like weldment and fusion reactor wall irradiated in the nuclear power plant. This paper investigated the possibility of SCC susceptibility evaluation by the SP-SSRT method using the miniaturized small specimen. Therefore, we obtained the result that the SP-SSRT had the possibility for the evaluations of SCC susceptibility for shorter time to corrosive environment compare to Ten-SSRT which was conventional method.
The conventional SCC(stress corrosion cracking) test methods have much difficulty in evaluating the SCC behaviors of the localized zone like HAZ, bond line and weld metal because of the specimen size. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to develop the new SCC test method of the welded zone by evaluating the SCC susceptibility on parent metal and various microstructures of the welded zone by SP(small punch) test method using miniaturized small specimen and SSRT(slow strain rate test) method(SP-SSRT). Besides, this study is to verify the efficiency of the SP-SSRT results through AE(acoustic emission) test which is a useful technique to monitor the microfracture processes of the material. From the results of SCC susceptibility, SEM observation and AE test, it can be concluded that the SP-SSRT test using miniaturized small specimen(10mm*10mm*0.5mm) will be a good test method to evaluate the SCC susceptibility on the local zone such as the welded zone.
This study focuses on wave propagation analysis in the curved nanobeam exposed to different thermal loadings based on the Nonlocal Strain Gradient Theory (NSGT). Mechanical properties of the constitutive materials are assumed to be temperature-dependent and functionally graded. For modeling, the governing equations are derived using Hamilton's principle. Using the proposed model, the effects of small-scale, geometrical, and thermo-mechanical parameters on the dynamic behavior of the curved nanobeam are studied. A small-scale parameter, Z, is taken into account that collectively represents the strain gradient and the nonlocal parameters. When Z<1 or Z>1, the phase velocity decreases/increases, and the stiffness-softening/hardening phenomenon occurs in the curved nanobeam. Accordingly, the phase velocity depends more on the strain gradient parameter rather than the nonlocal parameter. As the arc angle increases, more variations in the phase velocity emerge in small wavenumbers. Furthermore, an increase of ∆T causes a decrease in the phase velocity, mostly in the case of uniform temperature rise rather than heat conduction. For verification, the results are compared with those available for the straight nanobeam in the previous studies. It is believed that the findings will be helpful for different applications of curved nanostructures used in nano-devices.

This Paper contains the development procedure of Mach small-scaled composite rotor blade for helicopter articulated rotor system. This mach small-scaled composite blade design is conducted by using CORDAS program developed by KARI. The Dynamic analysis for an articulated rotor system with this blade is conducted by using FLIGHTLAB which is commercial software for helicopter analysis. Also the optimizing procedure of iterative design was described. The designed composite blades were manufactured after establishing the effective curing method. For small-scaled rotor test, strain gauges were embedded in composite blade spar to obtain bending & torsion strain value. To verify sectional properties of a blade, the bench test is accomplished. After comparing a designed data and tested data, Dynamic Calculation was repeated using tested data. Through this research, experiences of mach small-scaled composite blade development were accumulated and will be applied to the related research field.

A portable torque and power measurement system for small farm equipment based on instrumented pulley was developed. The prototype pulley was machined from mild steel, with spokes serving as strain beams. Strain gages mounted to the spokes sense the bending strain due to the torque and convert this into millivolt output. Calibration results showed the torque-millivolt relationship was linear, while hysterisis and error were less than 1% fs. For power measurements, an additional tachmeter with dcvoltage output is necessary. With the tachometer , error in power measurement was +-1.03W or 0.2% fs. Field tests showed that for ease of installation, no machine alteration needed and safety, this system had advantage over other methods for small farm equipment.

Whirling vibration in severe cases may result in shaft cracking and typically gap sensors are utilized to confirm its values under the outside underwater of ship. The bending stress value causing whirling vibration on the propulsion shafting system of a 40-ton small vessel was verified by theoretical analysis and its vibration measurement. However, because of underwater condition, the accuracy for this measurement method is presumed low. In this study, the strain gauge basic principle and the bending stress calculation method are considered. The relationships are then applied for obtaining the whirling vibration of the 40-ton small vessel. As a result, a new method in estimation of whirling vibration is reached and suggested.
