항공용 가스터빈 연소기에서의 혼합기 노즐 형상의 단순화가 음향장 해석 결과에 미치는 영향 (Effects of a Simplified Mixture Nozzle Geometry on the Acoustic Field in an Aero Gas Turbine Combustor)

  • A 3D FEM (Finite Element Method) based Helmholtz solver has been commonly used to characterize fundamental acoustic behavior and investigate dynamic instability features in many combustion systems. In this approach, a geometrical simplification of the target system has been generally made in order to reduce computational time and cost because a real combustor and fuel nozzle have a very complicated flow passage. The feasibility of these simplifications is quantitatively investigated in a small aero gas turbine nozzle in term of acoustic characteristics. It is found that the simplification in a nozzle geometry during the 3D FEM analysis process has no great influence on the acoustic modeling results, while the calculation complexity can be improved for a similar modeling accuracy.

이중 연소 램제트 엔진에서 연소기 형상에 따른 초음속 난류 부상 화염의 안정성 연구 (Effects of Combustor Configuration on the Stability of Supersonic Turbulent Lifted Flame in a DCR Engine)

  • 이중 연소 램제트(DCR) 엔진의 주 연소기에서 초음속 연소 현상을 수치해석을 동하여 연구하였다. 초음속 연소 유동은 유동의 압축성 효과에 연소 안정성이 크게 영향 받으므로, 일정 단면적 부분의 길이 및 확산 각에 대한 영향을 살펴보았다. 동일한 입구 조건에서의 해석의 결과 이중 연소 램제트 엔진 연소기의 연소 유동은 기본적으로 난류 부상 화염의 특징을 가짐을 알 수 있었으며, 부상 화염의 높이는 초음속 확산각이 작고 일정 단면적 부분이 긴 경우, 분사기 가까이 유지되만, 확산각의 변화에 심하게 영향 받아 작은 변화에도 부상화염의 높이가 크게 증가하거나 연소기 밖으로 blow-out 되므로, DCR 연소기의 설계에는 화염의 안정성이 충분히 고려되어야 함을 알 수 있었다.

플라즈마를 이용한 FGR 기반 저 NOx 연소 타당성 연구 (Feasibility Study of Low NOx Combustion based on FGR using Plasma Reformer)

  • A combined hydrogen generator of plasma and catalytic reformer was developed, and was applied to stabilize unstable flame of 200,000 Kcal/hr LPG combustor. The role of the plasma reformer was to generate hydrogen in a short period and to heat-up the catalytic reformer during the start-up time. After the start-up period, the catalytic reformer generates hydrogen through steam reforming with oxygen (SRO) reactions. The maximum capacity of the hydrogen generator was enough 100 lpm to stabilize the flame of the present combustor. In order to reduce NOx and CO emissions simultaneously, 1) FGR (Flue Gas Recirculation) technique has been adopted and 2) the hydrogen was added into the fuel supplied to the combustor. Test results showed that the addition of 25% hydrogen and 30% FGR rate lead to simultaneous decrease of CO and NOx emissions. The technique developed in the present study showed good potential to replace $NH_3$ SCR technique, especially in the small-scale combustor applications.

둔체를 갖는 연소기에서 자려 연소 진동에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation of Self-excited Combustion Oscillation in a Dump Combustor with Bluff-body)

  • Combustion instability has been considered as very important issue for developing gas turbine and rocket engine. There is a need for fundamental understanding of combustion instability. In this study, combustion instability was numerically and experimentally investigated in a dump combustor with bluff body. The fuel and air mixture had overall equivalence ratio of 0.9 and was injected toward dump combustor. The pressure oscillation with approximately 256Hz was experimentally obtained. For numerical simulation, the standard k-$\varepsilon$ model was used for turbulence and the hybrid combustion model (eddy dissipation model and kinetically controlled model) was applied. After calculating steady solution, unsteady calculation was performed with forcing small perturbation on initial that solution. Pressure amplitude and frequency measured by pressure sensor is nearly the same as those predicted by numerical simulation. Furthermore, it is clear that a combustion instability involving vortex shedding is affected by acoustic-vortex-combustion interaction. The phase difference between the pressure and velocity is $\pi$/2, and that between the pressure and heat release rate is in excitation range described by Rayleigh, which is obvious that combustion instability for the bluff body combustor meets thermoacoustic instability criterion.

난류발생기가 장착된 선회기를 이용한 연소기내의 혼합 및 연소 특성 (The Characteristics of Mixing and Combustion in the Combustor with Turbulence Generator)

  • 본 연구에서는 화염의 안정화를 위하여 사용되는 선회류 발생 장치의 베인에 작은 스케일의 난류를 발생시킬 수 있는 난류 발생기를 장착하여 연료와 흡입공기의 혼합을 촉진시키고, 연소와 온도의 균일도를 향상시키기 의한 실험적 검토를 행하였다. 실험에서는 내부 혼합용 이유체 분사노즐 사용하여 등유를 분사시킨 후 연료와 흡입공기의 혼합과 연소 현상을 관측하였다. 난류발생기는 베인 각도에 따른 베인과 베인 사이의 각 단면의 면적을 계산하여 그 유로단면의 면적에 대한 비율로서 난류발생기의 면적을 결정하여 선회기를 통과하는 유로 단면적의 각각 0%, 3%, 7%, 12%에 해당하는 면적의 난류 발생기를 제작하여 선회기 출구 베인의 끝단에 설치하였다. 실용 연소기의 구조를 어느 정도 단순화한 환형 연소기에서의 농도분포, 화염구조 및 온도분포를 조사하여 효과적인 연소기내의 연소제어에 사용하고자 한다.

  • The radial turbine has been successfully applied to the systems which request relatively small output compared with the axial turbine, and has low manufacturing cost due to it's small size and simple structure. Recently, the researches on the development and the efficiency maximization of the radial turbine are in progress corresponding with the trend toward miniaturization in turbo machinery and the development of small dispersed power generation systems. The radial turbine is to be applied to our turbo refrigerator of which engine speed is 26,000 rpm and turbine efficiency is $88\%$. Also, as a heat exchanger is accepted instead of a combustor in our turbo refrigerator, the design of radial turbine has been performed to be appropriate to the circumstance of low temperature air, not high temperature combustor gas, into the turbine inlet . This radial turbine is being developed in consideration with not only the aero-dynamic performance but also the simplification of manufacturing and integration, and the durability at operating condition. This paper refer to the performance evaluation about the radial turbine design by comparison with consulting from Russia and the our evaluation about various design factors which are considered in aero-dynamic design process.

  • 가스터빈 연소기의 스월러와 노즐을 제작하여 스월러 형상 변화에 따른 비연소시 케로신 분무 특성과 연소시에 열유동장의 특성을 조사하였다. 액적의 크기(SMD)와 속도를 파악하기 위해서 위상도플러입자분석기(PDPA)를 이용하였고, 연소 온도를 조사하기 위해서 R-type 열전대(Platinum vs. Platinum-13%rhodium)를 이용하였다. 분무와 화염의 가시화는 스틸 카메라를 이용하였다. 스월러각이 커서 스월수가 큰 경우에 분무 및 화염이 반경방향으로 빠르게 발전하였다. 화염은 스월수가 작을 때는 원추형의 화염이 형성되지만 스월수가 커지면서 스월 모멘텀이 중심축으로 이송되고 혼합이 촉진되어 원통형으로 바뀌었다.

선회 예혼합연소기에서 당량비 변화에 따른 유동구조 및 화염특성에 관한 LES 연구 (LES Studies on Flow Structure and Flame Characteristic with Equivalence Ratios in a Swirling Premixed Combustor)

  • The impacts of equivalence ratio on flow structure and flame dynamic in a model gas turbine combustor are investigated using large eddy simulation(LES). Dynamic k-equation model and G-equation flamelet model are employed as LES subgrid model for flow and combustion, respectively. As a result of mean flow field for each equivalence ratio, the increase of equivalence ratio brings about the decrease of swirl intensity through the modification of thermal effect and viscosity, although the same swirl intensity is imposed at inlet. The changes of vortical structure and turbulent intensity etc. near flame surface are occurred consequently. That is, the decrease of equivalence ratio can leads to the increase of heat release fluctuation by the more increased turbulent intensity and fluctuation of recirculation flow. In addition, the effect of inner vortex generated from vortex breakdown on the heat release fluctuation is increased gradually with the decrease of equivalence ratio. Finally, it can be identified that the variations of vortical structure play an important role in combustion instability, even though the small change of equivalence ratio is occurred.

  • 단위 분사기의 실물형 연소기 적용 시 실물형 연소기의 배열, 구성 분사기 수량, 연소압 등의 이유로 동작환경이나 분사기 형상의 변화를 필요로 한다. Jet-A1과 액체산소를 추진제로 하는 동축 와류형 분사기의 실물형 적용성을 검토하기위해 연소압 증가, 추진제 유량 감소와 분사기 길이 증가 조건에서 연소시험을 수행하였다. 시험결과 연소압 증가와 추진제 유량 감소, 노즐길이 증가 시 특성속도효율이 개선되었으며 이에 반해 압력섭동의 강도는 미미하였고 특정한 주파수 대역을 보이지 않아 실물형 적용성이 우수하였다.
