This study was focused on analyse Nonpoint source characteristics from Flat slope field and Steep slope field. We performed Storm-water monitering for obtain flow data and concentration data. Totally, eleven times Event was occurred. We calculated EMC(Event Mean Concentration) and Pollutants Loads using data we obtained. As a result, steep slope field has more discharge than flat field. SS value, one of the water quality contents, has largest variation and T-N has least variation. There is runoff differences even though events has same rainfall. We assume that not only amount of Rainfall, but also Rainfall Duration Times, Intensity, Number of Previous Non-precipitation days can affect to Run-off.

In this work, the changes in the friction force(lateral force) with respect to nanoscale geometric variation were investigated using an Atomic Force Microscope and a Lateral Force Microscope. It could be concluded that the changes in the friction force correspond well to the slope change rather than the surface slope itself, and that the influence of slope change on the frictional behavior is dependent on the magnitude of the slope and the torsional stiffness of the cantilever. Also, the nominal friction force is found to be more significantly affected by the material and the physical-chemical state of the surface rather than by nanoscale geometric steps. However, the change in nanoscale geometric details of the surface cause instantaneous change and slight variation in the friction signal.
Three failure theories were studied to evaluate the wood strength variation with grain slope. Maximum stress theory, Tsai-Hill theory and Hankinson formula were presented to hypothesize the failure of wood according to grain slope to loading direction. Red pine and Japanese larch were used as materials to simulate failure strength prediction with grain slope. Calculation of strength results was that the strength of wood drops rapidly between parallel to grain orientation (0 degree) and 15 degree grain orientation. The strength of wood with grain orientation were somewhat different at small grain angles among failure theories, and this tendency was due to tension and compression distinction, and shear accounting in each theories. For the above 45 degree grain orientation, the predicted failure strength of wood with grain variation were very close in each failure theories and were useful in assessing failure strength of wood. The applicable these theories should be considered that the wood has different behavior in tension and compression, and this lead to different strength at small grain angles in each theories. Furthermore, reconsideration is needed to assess the failure strength of wood at small grain angles in Hankinson formula and further studies are necessary to accounting for shear behavior at small grain angles.

A reliability based slope stability assessment method is proposed and examined considering the variation of matric suction which is measured by a real time slope monitoring system. Mean value first order reliability method and advanced first order reliability method are used to calculate reliability indices of a slope. The applicability of methods is compared by applying them to the range of matric suctions measured by the real-time monitoring system. Sensitivity analysis is also performed to examine the contribution of random variables to the reliability index of slope. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a model slope. The results show that the reliability index of slope can be used for efficient slope management by quantifying the risk of slope in real time.

Shallow failures occur frequently in both engineered and natural slopes in expansive soils. Rainfall infiltration is the most predominant triggering factor that contributes to slope failures in both expansive soils and clayey soils. However, slope failures in expansive soils have some distinct characteristics in comparison to slopes in conventional clayey soils. They typically undergo shallow failures with gentle sliding retrogression characteristics. The shallow sliding mass near the slope surface is typically in a state of unsaturated condition and will exhibit significant volume changes with increasing water content during rainfall periods. Many other properties or characteristics change such as the shear strength, matric suction including stress distribution change with respect to depth and time. All these parameters have a significant contribution to the expansive soil slopes instability and are difficult to take into consideration in slope stability analysis using traditional slope stability analysis methods based on principles of saturated soil mechanics. In this paper, commercial software VADOSE/W that can account for climatic factors is used to predict variation of matric suction with respect to time for an expansive soil cut slope in China, which is reported in the literature. The variation of factor of safety with respect to time for this slope is computed using SLOPE/W by taking account of shear strength reduction associated with loss of matric suction extending state-of-the art understanding of the mechanics of unsaturated soils.

The stability of slope using root-pile like to the reinforcements is affected by the interaction behavior mechanism of soil-reinforcements. Through the studying on the interaction in joint of its, therefore, the control roles can be find out in installed slope. In study, the stress level ratio based on the insert angle of installed reinforcements in soil used to numerical analysis, which was results from the duty direct shear test in Lab. The maximum shear strain variation on the reinforcements was observed at insert angle, which was approximately similar to the calculated angle based on the equation proposed by the Jewell. The elasto-plastic joint model on the contact area of soil-reinforcements was presumed, the reinforced soil assumed non-linear elastic model and the reinforcements supposed elastic model, respectively. The finite element analysis of assumed models was performed. The shear strain variation of non-reinforced state obtained by the FEM analysis including elasto-plastic joint elements were shown the rationality of general limit equilibrium analysis for the slope failure mode on driving zone and resistance zone, which based on the stress level step according to failure ratio. Through the variation of shear strain for the variation of inserting angle of reinforcements, the different mechanism on the bending and the shear resistance of reinforcements was shown fair possibility.
A three-dimensional slope valve component is used for controlling micro volume of liquid on a centrifugal force-based microfluidic disk platform, also called a lab-on-a-disk. The modeling factor of the slope valve component is determined to centrifugal force for liquid passing the crest of a slope valve via variation of slope length and angle as well as the radius to start point of slope valve. The centrifugal force is calculated by the equilibrium equation of the capillary and gravitational forces according to the microchannel surface roughness and the liquid volume, respectively. As a result, the slope valve is analyzed by the minimum angular velocity for liquid passing at crest point and the ratio between the length of micro liquid and slope length to obtain the factors for optimal slope angle modeling.
The unsaturated layers by rainfall infiltration are not properly reflected in construction codes to do slope design. The objective of this paper is to analyze the slope behavior according to the saturation layer increase resulted from the rainfall infiltration, to do that the laboratory slope model apparatus was adopted. From the model apparatus, the variation of water content and strength parameters of the model slope were analyzed. The safety factors of model slope was decreased, if saturation layer was increased from 3.0m to 4.5m, which means ground water level 3m selected from construction codes makes higher safety level. Also, if the ground water level is located in soil surface, the lower safety level will show up. Therefore, to make the proper slope design, the experiments and analysis of variation of saturation layer is needed.

The stability analysis of unsaturated infinite slope under rainfall-induced infiltration condition was performed using the generalized effective stress that unifies both saturated and unsaturated condition recently proposed by Lu and Likos(2004, 2006). The Soil-Water Characteristic Curve (SWCC) of the sand with the relative density of 75% was first measured for both drying and wetting processes. The Hydraulic Conductivity Function (HCF) and Suction Stress Characteristic Curve (SSCC) were subsequently estimated. Also, under the rainfall-induced infiltration condition transient seepage analysis of unsaturated infinite slope was performed using the finite element program, SEEP/W. Based on these results, the stability of unsaturated infinite slope under rainfall-induced infiltration condition was examined considering the suction stress. According to the results, the negative pore water pressure and water content within the soil changed with time due to the infiltration. Also, the variation of those caused the variation of suction stress and then the factor of safety of slope changed consequently during the rainfall period.

In slope stability analysis for landslides, mountains have various slopes and geographical features, and hence it is necessary to estimate stability using rigorous analysis methods. In this study, after the analysis of infiltration behavior through unsaturated layers due to rainfall, the stability of landslide was estimated to account for the variation of pore water pressures. In the analysis of slope stability, a three-dimensional slope analysis was compared with an infinite slope analysis in a case study of terrain in which an actual landslide occurred. In the three-dimensional slope stability analysis, it was found that the location of the failure and the failure area were predicted accurately based on the detailed geological information despite the variation of geographical features.
