에너지 절감형 자동차용 현가장치에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Automotive Suspension System for Energy Efficiency)

  • The main goals of the automotive suspension systems are to isolate roadway unevenness from the tire and to improve vehicle stability. To overcome the performance limitation of the passive systems the active systems which completely replace the passive spring and damper elements with a force generating actuator has been studied. However, application of the system has been limited because it has required a significant amount of power. Recently, alternative systems which retain passive elements but include active elements have been developed to reduce the power required. Those systems are mostly focused on the control system which compresses the spring-damper directly. In this study, a new type of power efficient control system which makes the spring-damper unit slide in side way is studied. After constructing the control system including dynamic modeling and motion control, two types of alternative control systems are compared in view of power consumption and dynamic attitudes such as roll responses as well as heave responses. Also, a half car bond graph model is developed to show clearly the significant differences in performances between two control systems.

Study on the superhydrophilicity of $TiO_2$ films on glasses by thermal CVD

  • Hydrophilic $TiO_2$ films were deposited on slide glasses using titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) as a precursor by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The temperature of substrate was $400^{\circ}C$ and the temperatures of precursor were kept at $75^{\circ}C$ (sample A) and $60^{\circ}C$ (sample B) during the $TiO_2$ film growth. The deposited $TiO_2$ films were characterized by contact angle measurement and uv/vis spectroscopy. The result show that sample B has very low contact angle of almost zero due to superhydrophilic $TiO_2$ surface and transmittance is $76.85%{\pm}1.47%$ at the range of 400 - 700 nm. So, this condition is very optimal for hydrophilic $TiO_2$ film deposition. However, when the temperature of precursor is lower is lower than $50^{\circ}C$ or higher than $75^{\circ}C$, $TiO_2$ could not be deposited on the substrate and cloudy $TiO_2$ film was formed due to low precursor temperature and the increase of surface roughness, respectively.

복합레진의 표면 광택에 대한 평가 (Evaluation of surface gloss of composite resins)

  • Composite resins, commonly used in clinical practice, have been developed to improve aesthetics to obtain smooth surfaces. Although the restored composite resin has a smooth surface, it gradually becomes rough over time. Therefore, this study measured glossiness to evaluate the surface of various composite resins and attempted to evaluate the maintenance of glossiness of composite resins by observing surfaces that change to roughness. Specimens were produced using resin used in clinical practice: Gradia direct anterior (GA), Tetric N-Ceram (TN), Ceram.X Sphere TEC one (CX), Filtek Z350XT (FT), Estelite sigma quick (ES). After creating a smooth surface with slide glass, five locations were randomly selected to measure surface gloss, and the average was the representative value of the specimen. Roughness was applied to the specimen under water pouring at the same speed and pressure using SiC paper #2400, 1200, and 400. The gloss unit of different SiC papers was measured. To evaluate the gloss unit and gloss retention between composite resins, one-way analysis of variance and Tukey multiple comparisons test were used. As a result of the study, there was a difference in gloss unit of specimens produced under the same conditions. Although the degree differed depending on the composite resin, there was also a difference in gloss retention. Based on the findings, composite resins show differences in gloss due to their different characteristics. Ceram.X Sphere TEC one (CX) showing the lowest gloss retention and Estelite sigma quick (ES) showing the highest.

Rolling Test Simulation of Sea Transport of Spent Nuclear Fuel Under Normal Transport Conditions

  • In this study, the impact load resulting from collision with the fuel rods of surrogate spent nuclear fuel (SNF) assemblies was measured during a rolling test based on an analysis of the data from surrogate SNF-loaded sea transportation tests. Unfortunately, during the sea transportation tests, excessive rolling motion occurred on the ship during the test, causing the assemblies to slip and collide with the canister. Hence, we designed and conducted a separate test to simulate rolling in sea transportation to determine whether such impact loads can occur under normal conditions of SNF transport, with the test conditions for the fuel assembly to slide within the basket experimentally determined. Rolling tests were conducted while varying the rolling angle and frequency to determine the angles and frequencies at which the assemblies experienced slippage. The test results show that slippage of SNF assemblies can occur at angles of approximately 14° or greater because of rolling motion, which can generate impact loads. However, this result exceeds the conditions under which a vessel can depart for coastal navigation, thus deviating from the normal conditions required for SNF transport. Consequently, it is not necessary to consider such loads when evaluating the integrity of SNFs under normal transportation conditions.

Mushroom skeleton to create rocking motion in low-rise steel buildings to improve their seismic performance

  • Rocking motion have been used for achieving the 'resilient buildings' against earthquakes in recent studies. Low-rise buildings, unlike the tall ones, because of their small aspect ratio tend to slide rather than move in rocking mode. However, since rocking is more effective in seismic response reduction than sliding, it is desired to create rocking motion in low-rise buildings too. One way for this purpose is making the building's structure rock on its internal bay(s) by reducing the number of bays at the lower part of the building's skeleton, giving it a mushroom form. In this study 'mushroom skeleton' has been used for creating multi-story rocking regular steel buildings with square plan to rock on its one-by-one bay central lowest story. To show if this idea is effective, a set of mushroom buildings have been considered, and their seismic responses have been compared with those of their conventional counterparts, designed based on a conventional code. Also, a set of similar buildings with skeleton stronger than code requirement, to have immediate occupancy (IO) performance level, have been considered for comparison. Seismic responses, obtained by nonlinear time history analyses, using scaled three-dimensional accelerograms of selected earthquakes, show that by using appropriate 'mushroom skeleton' the seismic performance of buildings is upgraded to mostly IO level, while all of the conventional buildings experience collapse prevention (CP) level or beyond. The strong-skeleton buildings mostly present IO performance level as well, however, their base shear and absolute acceleration responses are much higher than the mushroom buildings.

UKF 기반한 동역학 시스템 파라미터의 추정 (Parameter Estimation of Dynamic System Based on UKF)

  • 본 논문은 비선형 시스템의 상태 추정에 널리 사용 되는 Unscented Kalman Filter(UKF)를 활용하여 동역학 시스템의 상태를 추정함과 동시에 파라미터를 추정하였다. 파라미터의 추정은 시스템 제어, 모델링, 성능분석 및 예측 등 다양한 분야에서 매우 중요하다. 공학에서 다루는 대부분의 시스템은 비선형성과 잡음이 존재하므로 파라미터 추정이 매우 어렵다. 이러한 경우에 대하여 본 논문에서는 비선형 필터로서 잡음에 강한 UKF를 이용하여 상태와 파라미터를 추정하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 파라미터 추정은 기존의 상태방정식에 파라미터 항을 추가하여 확장된 비선형 방정식을 사용하였으며, 진자와 슬라이드로 구성된 2-자유도 동역학 시스템에 적용하였으며, 시스템 운동방정식의 측정 잡음으로 가우시안 잡음을 추가하여 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 실시하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 제안한 방법이 LSM보다 좋은 성능을 보였다. 추정 오차는 3%이내이며, 0.1sec 이내의 수렴하는 것을 확인하였다. 결과적으로 UKF는 상태나 측정 데이터에 잡음이 존재하더라도 시스템의 상태 및 파라미터 추정이 가능하다.

인체의 영향에 의한 안테나 효율의 변화 (Antenna Efficiency Variation by the Influence of Human Body)

  • 본 논문에서는 PCS(Personal Communication System) 대역에서 동작하는 PIFA(Planar Inverted F Antenna)를 설계하여 특성을 살펴보았다. 설계된 PIFA를 폴더와 바, 슬라이드 타입의 단말기에 장착하여 성능을 확인하였다. 실제 사용자가 사용하는 상태와 가장 유사한 환경을 만들기 위해 헤드 팬텀과 핸드 팬텀을 추가하여 단말기 안테나의 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 인체의 영향으로 인해 방사패턴이 크게 변형되는 모습을 보였으며, 안테나 효율 또한 현저히 저하되는 것을 전산 모의 실험을 통해 확인할 수 있었다. 단말기와 헤드 팬텀과의 위치 관계에 따른 변화를 확인하기 위해 단말기와 헤드 팬텀의 각도가 $0^{\circ}$일 경우를 기준으로 하여, $2^{\circ},\;4^{\circ}$로 변화시켜가며 단말기 안테나의 성능 변화를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 안테나가 헤드 팬텀에서 멀어질수록 지향성을 갖던 특성이 조금씩 줄어들면서 효율이 좋아지는 경향을 보였다. 다만 안테나의 위치가 상대적으로 헤드 팬텀에 가까운 바 타입의 경우, 이 같은 경향이 나타나지 않았다. 단말기의 형태도 성능에 큰 영향을 주는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Acute Testis Toxicity of Bisphenol A Diglycidyl Ether in Sprague-Dawley Rats

  • Objectives: Bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) is a liquid compound obtained by condensation of two molecules of epichlorohydrin with one molecule of bisphenol A. General and reproductive toxicity with BADGE has been reported higher than 1000 mg/kg/day. This study was performed to show the effects of acute exposure to BADGE below 1000 mg/kg/day on the testis in adult male rats. Methods: BADGE was administered by gastric lavage in a single dose of 500, 750, 1000, and 2000 mg/kg/day in 8-week old male SPF Sprague-Dawley rats. The right testis was processed for light microscopic analysis. The left testis was homogenized and spermatids were counted to determine the daily sperm production and daily abnormal sperm production. The sperm count, sperm motility, and incidence of abnormal sperm were estimated in the epididymis. In testicular sections, the seminiferous tubules were observed for qualitative changes. The progression of spermatogenesis was arbitrarily classified as full-matured, maturing, and immature. The specimen slide was observed at 3 points and 10 seminiferous tubules were evaluated at each point. Results: The male rats exposed to single oral dose of BADGE at 750, 1000, and 2000 mg/kg/day were significantly increased the number of immature and maturing sperm on the testis. There were no significant differences with respect to sperm head count, sperm motility, and sperm abnormality in the BADGE treatment groups. Conclusions: These results suggest that single oral exposure of BADGE 750 mg/kg/day can affect adult male testis development.

Effects of Imagery Tennis Training on Cerebral Activity

  • The previous studies showed that the visual imagery activated the occipital and posterior inferior temporal area of the brain, and the damage to the occipital cortex impaired the visual mental imagery. We studied current-source distribution of electroencephalography (EEG) to observe neuronal activity during imagery tennis playing. Eleven healthy volunteers were enrolled. All volunteers were right-handed males and novices for tennis playing. The mean age of them was 24.9 years. The EEGs were recorded on the scalp electrodes located according to the International 10~20 System. The number of electrodes was 25 channels including subtemporal electrodes. The EEG recording session was 13 min including 5 segments: resting-I, scenery-slide show, resting-II, watching tennis-game video, and imagery-tennis playing. The recoding durations were 3, 2, 3, 2, and 3 min respectively. Five 'artifact free 3-sec segments' were selected in each segment of 'imagery-tennis playing' and 'resting-II'. We did the frequency domain analysis with the EEG segments using a distributed model of current-source analysis. The statistical-nonparametric maps (SnPMs) were obtained between the segments of 'imagery-tennis playing' and the segments of 'resting-II' (p<0.01). The significant change of current-source density was observed only in alpha-2 frequency band (10~12 Hz). The current-sourcedensity was increased in the hippocampus, parahippocampus, and occipital fusiform gyrus in the right cerebral hemisphere (p<0.01). Imaginary-tennis playing may activate the hippocampal-occipital alpha networks of nondominant hemisphere.
