Skip-k Storage Policy (Skip-k 저장방식)

  • We address a new storage policy, called Skip-k storage, which gives storing priority to the items with relatively higher turnover rates. Applying the policy in storage systems such as AS/RS will reduce expected travel distance considerably. We analyze system behavior and find an appropriate skip size expressed by the system parameters in case arrival rates become larger enough.

A Study on the Feature Extraction of Pattern Recognition for Weld Defects Evaluation of Titanium Weld Zone (티타늄 용접부의 용접결함평가를 위한 형상인식 특징추출에 관한 연구)

  • This study proposes feature extraction method of pattern recognition by evaluation of weld defects in weld zone of titanium. For this purpose, analysis objectives in this study are features of attractor quadrant and fractal dimension. Trajectory changes in the attractor indicated a substantial difference in fractal characteristics resulting from distance shifts such as porosity of weld zone. These differences in characteristics of weld defects enables the evaluation of unique characteristics of defects in the weld zone. In quantitative fractal feature extraction, feature values of 0.87 and 1.00 in the case of part of 0.5 skip distance and 0.72 and 0.93 in the case of part of 1.0 skip distance were proposed on the basis of fractal dimensions. Attractor quadrant point, feature values of 1.322 and 1.172 in the case of ${\phi}1{\times}3mm$ porosity and 2.264 and 307 in the case of ${\phi}3{\times}3mm$ porosity were proposed on the basis of distribution value. The Proposed feature extraction of pattern recognition in this study can be used for safety evaluation of weld zone in titanium.

  • In real time rendering of fetus the empty space leaping while traversing a ray is most frequently used accelerating technique. The main idea is to skip empty voxel samples which do not contribute the result image and it speeds up the rendering time by avoiding sampling data while traversing a ray in the empty region, saving a substantial number of interpolations. Calculating the distance from the nearest object boundary for every yokel can reduce the sampling operation. Among widely-well-known distance maps, those estimates the true distance, such as euclidean distance, takes a long time to compute because of the complicated floating-point operations, and others which uses approximated distance functions, such as city-block and chessboard, provides faster computation time but sampling error may can occur. In this paper, therefore, we analyze the characteristics of several distance maps and compare the number of samples and rendering time. And we aim to suggest the most appropriate distance map for rendering of fetus in ultrasound image.

  • In order to implement virtual endoscopy, high-speed rendering algorithm that generates accurate perspective projection images and efficient collision detection method are essential. In this paper we propose an efficient virtual endoscopy system based on volume rendering technique. It is possible to skip over empty (transparent) space using the distance value produced in preprocessing time, and it does not deteriorate image quality since it is an extension of ray-casting. It also accelerates rendering speed with minimal loss of image quality by adjusting sampling interval along a ray according to direction of the ray. Using the distance information, we can simplify the collision detection of volumetric objects.

Features extracted from time series data using the chaos time series signal analyze quantitatively weld defects. For this purpose, analysis objective in this study is fractal dimension and Lyapunov exponent. Trajectory changes in the strange attractor indicated that even same type of defects carried substantial difference in chaosity resulting from distance shifts such as 0.5 and 1.0 skip distance. Such differences in chaosity enables the evaluation of unique features of defects in the weld zone. In quantitative chaos feature extraction, feature values of 4.511 and 0.091 in the case of side hole and 4.539 and 0.115 in the case of vertical hole were proposed on the basis of fractal dimension and Lyapunov exponent. Proposed chaos feature extraction in this study can enhances ultrasonic pattern recognition results from defect signals of weld zone such as side hole and vertical hole.

In experiment fractal(correlation) dimension and Lyapunov exponent extracted from 6dB ultrasonic defect signals of weld zone showed chaoticity. In quantitative chaotic feature extraction, feature values(mean values) of 4.2690 and 0.0907 in the case of porosity and 4.2432 and 0.0888 in the case of incomplete penetration were proposed on the basis of fractal dimension and Lyapunov exponent. Proposed chaotic feature extraction in this study enhances ultrasonic pattern recognition results from defect signals of weld zone such as vertical hole.

Chaos features extracted from time series data for analysis quantitatively weld defects For this purpose, feature extraction objectives in this study are fractal dimension, Lyapunov exponent, shape of strange attrator. Trajectory changes in the strange attractor indicated that even same type of defects carried substantial difference in chaoticity resulting from distance shifts such as nearby 0.5, 1.0 skip distance. Such difference in chaoticity enables the evaluation of unique features of defects in the weld zone. In quantitative chaos fenture extraction, feature values of 0.835 and 0.823 in the case of slag inclusion and 0.609 and 0.573 in the case of crack were suggested on the basis of fractal dimension and Lyapunov exponent. Proposed chaoral post-process system in this study can enhances precision rate of ultrasonic pattern recognition results from defect signals of weld zone, such as slag inclusion and crack.

  • As design a network system that should command and response to do tasks by PLC, to make factory automation for being distributed facilities which are not guaranteed procedure, through polling method, commands are send orderly by PLC and responses are answered by each sub-unit. It make a guarantee of sequence and drive a master-slave operation in network. This method help to distribute procedure systems and make possible dividing tasks to each unit. To make this method, network protocol's format have Master or Slave ID and tasking data and Master's command or Slave unit's report. In network interpret algorithm, skip algorithm are included and it make guarantee of protecting data though network are in noise. Data that are made by this method are send to PC to transmit long-distance user by internet.

  • This paper proposes an updating policy of indoor moving object databases (IMODB) for location-based services. our method applies the Ka1man filter on the recently collected measured positions to estimate the moving object's position and velocity at the moment of the most recent measurement, and extrapolate the current position with the estimated position and velocity. If the distance between the extrapolated current position and the measured current position is within the threshold, in other words if they are close then we skip updating the IMODB. When the IMODB needs to know the moving object's position at a certain moment T, it applies the Kalman filter on the series of the measurements received before T and extrapolates the position at T with the estimations obtained by the Kalman filter. In order to verify the efficiency of our updating method, we performed the experiments of applying our method on the series of measured positions obtained by applying the fingerprinting indoor positioning method while we are actually walking through the test bed. In the analysis of the test results, we estimated the communication saving rate of our method and the error increment rate caused by the communication saving.

Real-Time Rendering of a Displacement Map using an Image Pyramid (이미지 피라미드를 이용한 변위 맵의 실시간 렌더링)

  • displacement mapping enables us to add realistic details to polygonal meshes without changing geometry. We present a real-time artifacts-free inverse displacement mapping method. In each pixel, we construct a ray and trace the ray through the displacement map to find an intersection. To skip empty regions safely, we traverse the image pyramid of displacement map in top-down order. Furthermore, when the displacement map is enlarged, intersection with bilinear interpolated displacement map can be found. When the displacement map is at distance, our method supports mipmap-like prefiltering to enhance image quality and speed. Experimental results show that our method can produce correct images even at grazing view angles. Rendering speed of a test scene is over hundreds of frames per second and the influence of resolution of displacement map to rendering speed is little. Our method is simple enough to be added to existing virtual reality systems easily.
