  • In the companion paper (I-Problem Statements of the Current Seismic Design Code), the current Korean seismic design code is required to be modified considering site characteristics in Korea for the reliable estimation of site amplification. In this paper, three site classification methods based on the mean shear wave velocity of the top 30m $V_{S30}$, fundamental site periods $(T_G)$ and bedrock depth were investigated and compared with each other to determine the best classification system. Not enough of a difference in the standard deviation of site coefficients $(F_a\;and\;F_v)$ to determine the best system, and neither is the difference between the average spectral accelerations and the design response spectrum of each system. However, the amplification range of RRS values based on $T_G$ were definitely concentrated on a narrow band than other classification system. It means that sites which have a similar behavior during earthquake will be classified as the same site category at the site classification system based on $T_G$. The regression curves between site coefficients and $T_G$ described the effect of soil non linearity well as the rock shaking intensity increases than the current method based on $V_{S30}$. Furthermore, it is unambiguous to determine sue category based on $T_G$ when the site investigation is performed to shallower depth less than 30m, whereas the current $V_{S30}$ is usually calculated fallaciously by extrapolating the $V_s$ of bedrock to 30m. From the results of this study, new site classification system based on $T_G$ was recommended for legions of shallow bedrock depth in Korea.

A Study on Outflow and Pollutant Loading in Nam River Dam Basins (남강댐 유역의 유출량과 오염부하량 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analysis the pollutant loading of Chin yang Reservoir according to the variation of outflow. Regression equation of the pollutant loading and outflow was represented as $L=a\;Q^b$ in which L = pollutant loading(kg/day), a and b = regression coefficient, and Q = outflow($m^3/day$). Regression coefficients ($R^2$) of Sanchung, Sinan and Changchon site was in range of 0.8376 to 0.9818. Therefore the pollutant loading was good correlated with outflow. Changchon site had minimum b value because outflow of pollutant was little compared with rainfall. The SS was the highest b value 1.621~1.7834 among water quality parameters because the pollutant loading of SS was much affected by outflow. Also, the pollutant loadings per area could be calculated and compared in case of the dry season, normal season and flood season. The pollutant loading in the normal and flood season except the dry season were higher in order of Sanchung, Sinan and Changchon site. Pollutant loading per area were higher in order of Sinan, Sanchung and Changchon site. When it compared with pollutant loading per area calculated using pollutant unit loading, T-N was much different each other.

Noise Map Analysis for the Design of Noise Barrier at School Site (학교부지의 방음벽 설계를 위한 소음지도 해석)

  • In this study, the noise mapping simulation is executed to design an effective barrier reducing noise levels of a school site. The geographical features of the ambient site and the school buildings are modelled in detail in order to consider sound propagation, deflection, and absorption phenomena etc. The main sound source, sound power level of expressway, is estimated on the basis of measured noise levels at several points of the site. The noise mapping simulation is performed by using ENPro, environmental noise prediction program based on ISO 9613 to analysis the effectiveness of noise barrier. Consequently, the noise barrier is designed to meet an environmental noise standard and satisfy low cost and safety conditions.

  • 본 연구에서는 새로운 장전자 방출법(DOFEC법)으로 W(210)면의 수소 흡착에 의한 일함수의 변화, heat of desorption에 대하여 연구하였다. 텅스텐(210)면에 수소가 흡착될 때 흡착율에 따라 일함수가 증가하다가 다시 감소하는데 이것은 수소가 처음에는(210)면의 step((100)면)에 흡착되고 dose를 증가시킴에 따라 terrace((110)면)에 흡착되기 때문임을 알았다. 즉, terrace보다 step의 sticking coefficient가 더 크며 zero coverage에서의 그 비는 2.57이며 이는 타 연구 결과와 잘 일치한다. (210)면의 step과 terrace의 수소 흡착에 대한 일함수의 정량적인 변화량 그리고 수소 dose량에 대한 각각의 면에 대한 상대적인 흡착율을 얻었으며, 이 결과는 독립된(110)면 또는 (100)면의 결과와 잘 일치됨을 알았다. 또한 이 결과는 흡착 실험에 있어서 dose량을 흡착률로 환산하는데 사용될 수 있다. 텅스텐(210)면에는 4개의 흡착 site가 존재하며 이 site들 중 $\beta$2과 $\beta$4 state는 second order 탈착 과정을 따르며 $\beta$1과 $\beta$3 state는 first order 탈착과정을 따른다. 따라서 텅스텐(210)면에는 수소가 해리적 흡착을 함과 동시에 비해리적 흡착도 함을 알았으며(210)면의 각 흡착 site를 이에 대응되는 (100)면과 (110)면의 흡착 site와 비교 검토하였다.

Estimation of amplification of slope via 1-D site response analysis (1차원 지반응답해석을 통한 사면의 증폭특성 규명)

  • The seismic slope stability is most often evaluated by the pseudo-static limit analysis, in which the earthquake loading is simplified as static inertial loads acting in horizontal and/or vertical directions. The transient loading is represented by constant acceleration via the pseudostatic coefficients. The result of a pseudostatic analysis is governed by the selection of the value of the pseudostatic coefficient. However, selection of the value is very difficult and often done in an ad hoc manner without a sound physical reasoning. In addition, the maximum acceleration is commonly estimated from the design guideline, which cannot accurately estimate the dynamic response of a slope. There is a need to perform a 2D dynamic analysis to properly define the dynamic response characteristics. This paper develops the modified one-dimensional seismic site response analysis. The modified site response analysis adjusts the density of the layers to simulate the change in mass and weight of the layers of the slope with depth. Multiple analyses are performed at various locations within the slope to estimate the change in seismic response of the slope. The calculated peak acceleration profiles with depth from the developed procedure are compared to those by the two-dimensional analyses. Comparisons show that the two methods result in remarkable match.

Estimation of Horizontal Coefficient of Consolidation for Soft Clay by Flat DMT (Flat DMT를 이용한 연약지반의 수평 압밀계수 산정)

  • The flat Dilatometer test(flat DMT) has been known as an in-situ testing method which is simple and robust to use, and reliable for site stratification and evaluation of soil properties. It was designed and proposed by Marchetti in 1975 to characterize the properties of soils. There are many researches that have been done to evaluate the horizontal coefficient of consolidation from the dissipation test results of flat DMT on normally consolidated and slightly overconsolidated clays. The representative estimation methods of estimating the horizontal consolidation coefficient are DMT-C method which uses a C-reading dissipation curve and DMT-A method which uses a A-reading dissipation curve. This paper represents a comparison analysis of those two methods in obtaining the horizontal coefficients of consolidation. The reference values are also obtained by CPTU and other laboratory tests. The applicability of using flat DMT to characterize the consolidation behavior is also reviewed for two sites. According to the results, DMT-A method is not suitable for silty clays possibly because of the compressibility characteristics. As for the normally consolidated and slightly overconsolidated clays, the results obtained from the two methods are comparable with each other as well as with the laboratory test results.

Consolidation Behavior of Soft Ground by prefabricated Vertical Drains (연직드레인 공법에 의한 연약지반의 압밀거동)

  • A large scale field test of prefabricated vertical drains was performed to anayze the effect of parameters of the very soft clay at a test site. compression index and the coefficient of horizontal consolidation obtained by back-analysis of settlement data were compared with those obtained by means of laboratory tests. Hyperbolic method, Asaoka meoth and curve fitting method were used to compute final settlement of coefficient of consolidation. The relationships of settlement measurement(Sm) versus design settlement(St) and the measurement consolidation ratio(Um) versus design consolidation (Ut) were shown as Sm=(1.0~1.1) St , Um=(1.13~1.17) Ut at 1.0m spacing of drain and Sm=(0.7~0.8)St, Um= (0.92~0.99) Ut at 1.5 m spacing of drain, respectively . The relationships of the field compression index(CcField) and virgin compression index(vcc lab) were shown as Ccfield =(1.0~1.2)vcc lab . But it was nearly within the same range when considering the error factor with the determination method of virgin compression index and the prediction back-analysis of the settlement data was larger than the coefficient of vertical consolidation, and the ratio of consolidation coefficient (Ch/Cv) was Ch =(2.4~2.9) Cv , Ch=(3.4~4.2) Cv at 1.0m and 1.5m spacing of drain, respectively.

Analysis of Spatial Distributions of Rainfall Rate for Satellite Site Diversity in Korea (위성망 이중화를 위한 국내 강우율 공간분포 분석)

  • This paper proposes appropriate locations for site diversity to provide stable satellite communication service in Korea. For this purpose, we analyzed rainfall rate data measured by KMA for 5 years at 88 sites, and the variations of simultaneous occurrence of rainfall rate in pairs of sites using the correlation coefficient. This paper provided contour maps of the spatial ditstribution of rainfall rate correlation, and proposed information on the optimum sites/regions for the operation of muti-uplink satellite systems, in 4 cities which were principal in field of satellite communication in Korea.

Selectivity of Oxomemazine for the $M_1$ Muscarinic Receptors

  • The binding characteristics of pirenzepine and oxomemazine to muscarinic receptor were studied to evaluate the selectivity of oxomemazine for the muscarinic receptor subtypes in rat cerebral microsomes. Equililbrium dissociation constant $(K_D){\;}of{\;}(-)[^3H]$quinuclidinyl benzilate$([^3H)QNB)$ determined from saturation isotherms was 64-pM. Analysis of the pirenzepine inghibition curve of [$^3H$]QNB binding to cerebral microsome indicatd the presence of two receptor subtypes with high $(K_1 = 16 nM, M_1 receptor)$two receptor subypes with about 20-fold difference in the affinity for high $(k_1 = 84nM, {\;} O_H receptor){\;} and {\;}low{\;} (K_1{\;} ={\;} 1.65\muM, {\;} O_L receptor$) affinity sites. The percentage populations of $M_1{\;} and M_3$, /TEX> receptors to the total receptors were 61 : 39, and those of $O_H{\;} and{\;} O_L$ receptors 39 : 61, resepectively. Both pirenzepine and oxomemazine increaed the $K_D$ value for $[^3H]QNB$ without affecting the binding site concentrations and Hii coefficient for the $[^3H]QNB$ without affecting the binding site concentractions and Hill coefficient for the [$^{3}$H]QNB binding. Oxomemazine had a 10-fold higher affinity at $M_1$ receptors than at $M_3$ receptors, and pirenzepine a 8-fold higher affinity at $O_H$ receptors were of $O_H$ receptors and 71% of $M_3$ receptors. However, $M_3$for oxomemazine and $O_H$for pirenzepine were composed of a uniform population. These results suggest that oxomemazine could be classified as a selective drug for $M_1$ receptors and also demonstrate that rat cerebral microsomes contain three different subtypes of $M_1{\;} M_3$ and the other site which is different from $M_1, {\;} M_2$, /TEX> receptors.

Measurement for Coefficient of Thermal Expansion of Concretes Made with Recycled Concrete Aggregates (재생골재를 함유한 콘크리트의 열팽창계수 측정)

  • PURPOSES : This study was performed to determine a systematic approach for measuring the coefficient of thermal expansion (COTE) of concrete specimens. This approach includes the initial calibration of measurement equipment. Test variables include coarse aggregate types such as natural aggregate, job-site produced recycled concrete aggregate, and recycled aggregate processed from an intermediate waste treatment company. METHODS : First, two cylindrical SUS-304 specimens with a known COTE value of $17.3{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$. were used as reference specimens for the calibration of each measurement system. The well-known AASHTO TP-60 COTE apparatus for concrete measurement was utilized in this study. Four different measurement apparatuses were used with each LVDT installed and a calibration value was determined using each measurement apparatus. RESULTS : In the initial experimental stage, calibration values for each measurement apparatus were assumed to be almost identical. However, using the SUS-304 samples as a reference, the calibration values for the four different measurement apparatuses were found to range from 3.49 to $8.86{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$. Using different adjusted values for each measurement apparatuses, COTE values for the three different concrete specimens were obtained. The COTE value of concrete made with natural coarse aggregate was $9.91{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$, that of job-site produced recycled coarse aggregate was $10.45{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$, and that of recycled aggregate processed from the intermediate waste treatment company was $10.82{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$. CONCLUSIONS : We observed that the COTE value of concrete made from recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) was higher than that of concrete made from natural coarse aggregate. This difference is due to the fact that the total volumetric mortar proportion in the RCA mix is higher than that in the concrete mix made with natural coarse aggregate.
