In this paper, we introduce the positioning methods using the grid sensor network. The basic operational principle of grid sensor network can be the wireless communication using the sensor node attached on the objects. Sink node receives the environmental information (e.g., temperature, humidity and so on), and transmits the information to the core database. Since the grid sensor network basically uses wireless communication, it is necessary to observe the place where grid sensor nodes to be installed. In this sense, we carried out the practical measurement on the wireless propagation in an applicable field. In addition, link budget study and SNR estimation works were done in accordance with the results from the measurement.
In early 1970s, Electronic Manometers were researched and developed for modernization and objectification of pulse diagnosis. Method of finger pressing, also known as cuffs pressing, is essential for sensing a pulse wave. I think comprehension and deduction of problem from the existing Hi-soo type electronic manometer, will be important for making a better one. The Hi-soo type electronic manometer is constructed of cuff pressing type sensor, differential amplifier, transmitter and recorder. Pulse movement and pulse wave, gauging blood flow, is analyzed by pulse image of "Yixuerumen(醫學入門)". At standard of pulse wave, huanmai(緩脈) is distinguish from chishu(slow and fast, 遲數), fushen(float and sink, 浮沈), interference wave, modificated wave, and phase angel. The Hi-soo type electronic manometer had no explanation of formational mechanism, significantly different with pulse wave which is early known and reported. The strength of Hi-soo type electric manometer is use of cuff pressing type sensor. Above all, the importance of electric manometer is reading the pulse movement accurately then expressing it as pulse wave. From now on the improvement of precise sensor should make a progress.
The concentrations of aldehydes were measured in downtown area of Buchun and Kwanghwamoon of Seoul from October 1997 to August 1998 using 2-series impingers. The data have been analysed to identify the seasonal pattern of aldehyde sources in metropolitan areas. The measured concentration (in ppbv) of aldehydes were 8.86 $\pm$ 7.28 HCHO (formaldehyde) and 7.79$\pm$7.29 $CH_3$CHO (acetaldehyde) in Buchun, while recording 10.13$\pm$8.58 (HCHO) and 7.64$\pm$6.65 ($CH_3$CHO) in Kwanghwamoon. Their diurnal variation patterns showed significant increase of HCHO and $CH_3$CHO concentration in early afternoon, indicating an increase in secondary sources. Their concentrations however decreased in the nighttime, regardless of seasons. The strength of correlations between certain pairs such as (1) HCHO and CO and (2) $CH_3$CHO and CO were generally high during the winter months (0.64< r < 0.84), suggesting the possibility of similar source processes for HCHO, $CH_3$CHO and CO. On the other hand during the summer months, their correlations are frequently lower than winter months. We suggested that the complexity of source/sink processes during the summer period may reduce the correlations between aldehyde and CO.

In autobody assembly, thin-wall, tubular connections have been used for the frame structure. Recent interest in light materials, such as aluminum or magnesium alloys, has been rapidly growing for weight reduction and fuel efficiency. Due to higher thermal expansion coefficient, low stiffness/strength, and low softening temperature of aluminum and magnesium alloys, control of welding-induced distortion in these connections becomes a critical issue. In this study, the material sensitivity to welding distortion was investigated using a T-tubular connection of three types materials; low carbon steel (A500 Gr. A), aluminum alloy (5456-H116) and magnesium alloy (AZ91C-T6). An uncoupled thermal and mechanical finite element analysis scheme using the ABAQUS software program was developed to model and simulate the welding process, welding procedure and material behaviors. The predicted angular distortions were correlated to the cumulative plastic strains. A unique relationship between distortion and plastic strains exists for all three materials studied. The amount of distortion is proportional to the magnitude and distribution of the cumulative plastic strains in the weldment. The magnesium alloy has the highest distortion sensitivity, followed by the other two materials with the steel connection having the least distortion. Results from studies of thin-aluminum plates show that welding distortion can be minimized by reducing the cumulative plastic strains by preventing heat diffusion into the base metal using a strong heat sink placed directly beneath the weld. A rapid cooling method is recommended to reduce welding distortion of magnesium tubular connections.

Since the discovery over a decade ago, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been attracting considerable attentions both from scientists and engineers. Because of the excellent field emission properties, such as high aspect ratio, extremely small diameter, and high emission current, CNTs become a potential candidate as field emitter for field emission display (FED) and lighting (FEL) as backlight for LCD. Due to the exceptional physical properties, such as superior thermal and electrical conductivities, as well as high stiffness and strength, the CNT-based composites can be as light-weight heat-sink or thermal spreader materials used for power electronic devices, such as power LED for general illumination. The CNTs for above applications will be reviewed, and related materials and devices will be demonstrated in this paper.
In discharge machining, material is removed by electrical discharge between the electrode and the workpiece. An important consideration in EDM is that the wear of the electrodes decreases the final precision of the workpiece. The edge wear of the electrodes proceeds very quickly because sparks occur more frequently at the edges with high local electrical strength. In this study, mold steel was discharged with a wedge-shaped graphite electrode to measure the edge wear of the electrode according to the depth. The electrode edge wear increased with depth during EDM and a wear model was developed. The model predicted that the edge wear can be reduced by approximately 70% using two electrodes instead of a single electrode. The model was supported by the experimental comparison of the dual electrode method and the single electrode method.
This study attempts to address the buckling and free vibration characteristics of an isotropic cylindrical panel subjected to non-uniform temperature rise using numerical approach. Finite element analysis has been used in the present study. The approach involves three parts, in the first part non-uniform temperature field is obtained using heat transfer analysis, in the second part, the stress field is computed under the thermal load using static condition and, the last part, the buckling and pre-stressed modal analysis are carried out to compute critical buckling temperature as well as natural frequencies and associated mode shapes. In the present study, the effect of non-uniform temperature field, heat sink temperatures and in-plane boundary constraints are considered. The relation between buckling temperature under uniform and non-uniform temperature fields has been established. Results revealed that decrease (Case (ii)) type temperature variation field influences the fundamental buckling mode shape significantly. Further, it is observed that natural frequencies under free vibration state, decreases as temperature increases. However, the reduction is significantly higher for the lowest natural frequency. It is also found that, with an increase in temperature, nodal and anti-nodal positions of free vibration mode shapes is shifting towards the location where the intensity of the heat source is high and structural stiffness is low.
Mo-Cu alloys have been widely used for heat sink materials, vacuum technology, automobile, and many other applications due to their excellent physical and electric properties. Especially, Mo-Cu composites with 5 ~ 20 wt.% copper are widely used for the heavy duty service contacts due to their excellent properties like low coefficient of thermal expansion, wear resistance, high temperature strength, and prominent electrical and thermal conductivity. In most of the applications, highly-dense Mo-Cu materials with homogeneous microstructure are required for better performance. In this study, Mo-Cu alloys were prepared by PBM (planetary ball milling) and SPS (spark plasma sintering). The effect of Cu with contents of 5~20 wt.% on the microstructure and thermal properties of Mo-Cu alloys was investigated.

In most of the applications, high dense Mo-Cu materials with homogeneous microstructure are required for high performance, which has led in turn to attempts to prepare ultra-fine and well-dispersed Mo-Cu powders in different ways, such as spray drying and reduction process, electroless plating technique, mechanical alloying process and gelatification-reduction process. However, most of these methods were accomplished at high temperature (typically degree), resulting in undesirable growth of large Cu phases; furthermore, these methods usually require complicated experimental facilities and procedure. In this study, Mo-Cu alloying were prepared by planetary ball milling (PBM) and spark plasma sintering (SPS) and the effect of Cu with contents of 5~20 wt% on the microstructure and properties of Mo-Cu alloy has been investigated.
