  • Development of a rapid method possessing the requisite sensitivity and specificity for virus monitoring is necessary for protection of the shellfish-consuming public. Oysters tissue usually contains virus particles in relatively small concentrations along with various other substances that can interfere with detection steps. Therefore, the critical point concerning the detection of viruses in shellfish tissues resides in the processing of samples. The current study demonstrated the possibility of purifying small amounts of virus particles at the interface of a 10/50% sucrose gradient after a single round of sucrose gradient ultracentrifugation. We could detect HAV and poliovirus simultaneously from oyster tissues by using two different sets of primer. Furthermore, the method showed a high level of virus recovery rate (>95%) as determined by plaque assays of the final samples. Taken the advantages of the simple and sensitive methods, it was possible to detect 2 pfu of HAV in 5 g of oyster digestive tissues within 24h.

  • No educational provision for the gifted and talented works in a cultural vacuum, and this is as true for out-of-school activities as for what happens in school itself. There is evidence that excellence in children's achievements can come from widely differing special provision or from no special provision at all. Cultural influences affect attitudes as to who might be gifted and talented and what might be done for them. Whatever the size and influence of special centres anywhere, there is always overlap between in-school and out-of-school activities. For all styles of provision, cooperation between the two is a vital aspect of success. The major cultural dichotomy in this field is between the perception, usually found in the Far East that 'most children have gifted potential' and the largely Western view that 'few children have gifted potential'. It is safe to say that children who are selected for aptitude and ability, and who are keen to learn, will get more from special enrichment than those who of equal potential who have not had that experience. But this does not necessarily show the provision as the best possible method for enhancing gifts and talents. In fact, I do not know of a single scientific investigation, either cross-culturally or within one country, which compares any aspect of an out-of-school programme with another. As a result it is hard to say what type of provision would be most appropriate and effective in any given situation. Outcomes are also dependent on the enthusiasm, organisation and money put into any scheme - as well as the way youngsters are chosen for it. Some of the largest and most influential out-of-school American institutions were founded on the psychological understanding of human abilities that was current in the 1920s. These early influences of seeking an IQ cut-off point (or equivalent) to identify the gifted still affect their practice. in addition, the big American Talent Searches so often select youngsters for summer-schools not only by their high-level achievements, but also by their parent's ability to pay the sometimes high fees. Opinions about the identification of the brightest children and consequential educational practice underlie all provision for their education, whether in or outside school hours. Because of cross-cultural differences, it would not seem wise to copy any action directly from one culture to another without recognising these influences and possibly modifying the model. The growing trend around the world is to offer high-level opportunities to as many youngsters as possible, so that no keen learner is turned away without even a change of sampling them.

  • Urban sewer systems has a limitation of capacity of rainwater storage and problem of occurrence of untreated sewage, so adopting a storage facility for sewer flooding prevention and urban non-point pollution reduction has a big attention. The Korea Ministry of Environment has recently introduced a new concept of "multi-functional storage facility", which is crucial not only in preventive stormwater management but also in dealing with combined sewer overflow and sanitary sewer discharge, and also has been promoting its adoption. However, reserving a space for a single large-scale storage facility might be difficult especially in urban areas. Thus, decentralized construction of small- and midium-sized storage facilities and its operation have been introduced as an alternative way. In this paper, we propose a model predictive control scheme for an optimized operation of distributed storage facilities and sewer networks. To this aim, we first describe the mathematical model of each component of networks system which enables us to analyze its detailed dynamic behavior. Second, overflow locations and volumes will be predicted based on the developed network model with data on the external inflow occurred at specific locations of the network. MPC scheme based on the introduced particle swarm optimization technique then produces the optimized the gate setting for sewer network flow control, which minimizes sewer flooding and maximizes the potential storage capacity. Finally, the operational efficacy of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated by simulation study with virtual rainstorm event.

  • The objective of this study is to examine the re cent trend of the interpretation of the Principle of the Provenance in today s new environment of Archives Management and to identify the effective way of the application of the Principle of Provenance to Archives Management. Because of the continued change and the flexibility of the administrative organization and the development of information network, the traditional concept of the Principle of Provenance which put emphasis on a single creator and the physical entity of the archives has been gradually modified to a rather conceptual, abstract and realistic one. A method to apply the recent concept of the Principle of Provenance is to separate the descriptions of the record entity, the creators and the context and use the organic linkage of the separated description areas. Also we can control the provenance from the current stage or even from the pre-current stage by utilizing the classification scheme and the retention schedule. In case of the electronic records, we can manage the provenance and the context by using metadata inherent in the computerized information system. Above all it is critical that we need to structure and control the provenance by building the Korean rules for archival description corresponding to the international standards. And it is another an essential point that we have to develop a guideline for constructing the fond and maintaining its consistency.

  • The Internet of Things is a huge group of devices communicating each other and the interconnection of objects in the network is a basic requirement. Choosing a reliable device is critical because malicious devices can compromise networks and services. However, it is difficult to create a trust management model due to the mobility and resource constraints of IoT devices. For the centralized approach, there are issues of single point of failure and resource expansion and for the distributed approach, it allows to expand network without additional equipment by interconnecting each other, but it has limitations in data exchange and storage with limited resources and is difficult to ensure consistency. Recently, trust management models using fog nodes and blockchain have been proposed. However, blockchain has problems of low throughput and delay. Therefore, in this paper, a trust management model for selecting reliable devices in a fog-based IoT environment is proposed by applying IOTA, a blockchain technology for the Internet of Things. In this model, Directed Acyclic Graph-based ledger structure manages trust data without falsification and improves the low throughput and scalability problems of blockchain.

  • The human auricle is the first part to receive sound from the outside. In this part, the frequency range of human recognizable form is divided and organized. In this study, we propose modeling by applying a single sound source to the surface of the human auricle. This means that when the sound pressure of a low frequency (low frequency) sound enters the pinna, the impedance felt at the tip of a part of the non-linear surface of the pinna is mainly due to the tensile force at the end of the part of the non-linear surface of the pinna. By expressing the situation of moving at a very small speed, the characteristic impedance of the pinna was confirmed to be negative infinity, and it was also confirmed that the speed at the tip of a part of the non-linear surface of the pinna was 0 in the anti-resonance state. It was found that the wave propagation phenomenon that determines the characteristics of the filter is determined by how large the wavelength, kL, is compared to the length of the tip of a part of the non-straight surface of the pinna. Humans first receive sounds from outside through their ears. The auricle is non-linear and has a curved shape, and it is known that it analyzes frequencies while receiving external sounds. The human ear has an audible frequency range of 20Hz - 20,000Hz. Through the study, we applied the characteristics of the notch filter to hypothesize that the human audible frequency range is separated from the auricle, and applied filter theory to analyze it, and as a result, meaningful results were obtained. The curved part and the inner part of the auricle function as a trumpet, collecting sounds, and at the same time amplifying the weak sound of a specific band. The point was found and the shape of the envelope detected in the auricle was found. Selectivity for selecting sounds coming from the outside is the formula of the pinna that implements the function of Q. The function of distinguishing human-recognizable sound from the pinna from low to high through frequency analysis is performed in the pinna, and the 2-3kHz area, where human hearing threshold is the most sensitive, is also the acoustic impedance of the most recessed area of the pinna. It can be seen that starting from.

  • The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has become a public health emergency of global concern. In China, traditional Chinese medicine has been widely administered to COVID-19 patients without sufficient evidence. To evaluate the efficacy of Shenhuang Granule (SHG) for treating critically ill patients with COVID-19, we included in this study 118 patients who were admitted to the ICU of Tongji Hospital between January 28, 2020 and March 28, 2020. Among these patients, 33 (27.9%) received standard care plus SHG (treatment group) and 85 (72.1%) received standard care alone (control group). Enrolled patients had a median (IQR) age of 68 (57-75) years, and most (79 [67.1%]) were men. At end point of this study, 83 (70.3%) had died in ICU, 29 (24.5%) had been discharged from ICU, and 6 patients (5.2%) were still in ICU. Compared with control group, mortality was significantly lower in treatment group (45.4% vs. 80%, p < .001). Patients in treatment group were less likely to develop acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) (12 [36.3%] vs. 54 [63.5%], p = 0.012) and cardiac injury (5 [15.1%] vs. 32 [37.6%], p = 0.026), and less likely to receive mechanical ventilation (22 [66.7%] vs. 72 [84.7%], p = 0.028) than those in control group. The median time from ICU admission to discharge was shorter in treatment group (32 [20-73] days vs. 76 [63-79] days, p = 0.0074). These findings suggest that SHG treatment as a complementary therapy might be effective for critically ill adults with COVID-19 and warrant further clinical trials.

  • Peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.) is one of the major oilseed crops. The peanut oil consists of palmitic, oleic and linoleic acids, which are present at levels of 10%, 36-67% and 15-43%, respectively. High oleate mutant of peanut F435 contains 80% oleate and as little as 2% linoleate in seed oil. Previous study indicated that delta 12 fatty acid desaturase is a major enzyme controlling the oleate content in seeds of oilseed crops. F435 sequence alignment of their coding regions disclosed that an extra A(adenine) was inserted at the position +2,823 bp of delta 12 fatty acid desaturase gene. This study was to develop molecular marker (SNP marker) co-segregating with the high oleate trait. Chopyeong ${\times}$ F435 $F_2$ 41 population were investigated using molecular marker and fatty acid assay (NIR and gas chromatography). Finally, this marker segregates Chopyeong type 26 lines, heterotype 9 lines and F435 type 6 lines. These results in our study suggested that SNP marker conform fatty acid assay.

  • Geological dynamic hazards during coal mining can be caused by the failure of a composite system consisting of roof rock and coal layers, subject to different loading rates due to different advancing velocities in the working face. In this paper, the uniaxial compression test simulations on the composite rock-coal layers were performed using $PFC^{2D}$ software and especially the effects of loading rate on the stress-strain behavior, strength characteristics and crack nucleation, propagation and coalescence in a composite layer were analyzed. In addition, considering the composite layer, the mechanisms for the advanced bore decompression in coal to prevent the geological dynamic hazards at a rapid advancing velocity of working face were explored. The uniaxial compressive strength and peak strain are found to increase with the increase of loading rate. After post-peak point, the stress-strain curve shows a steep stepped drop at a low loading rate, while the stress-strain curve exhibits a slowly progressive decrease at a high loading rate. The cracking mainly occurs within coal, and no apparent cracking is observed for rock. While at a high loading rate, the rock near the bedding plane is damaged by rapid crack propagation in coal. The cracking pattern is not a single shear zone, but exhibits as two simultaneously propagating shear zones in a "X" shape. Following this, the coal breaks into many pieces and the fragment size and number increase with loading rate. Whereas a low loading rate promotes the development of tensile crack, the failure pattern shows a V-shaped hybrid shear and tensile failure. The shear failure becomes dominant with an increasing loading rate. Meanwhile, with the increase of loading rate, the width of the main shear failure zone increases. Moreover, the advanced bore decompression changes the physical property and energy accumulation conditions of the composite layer, which increases the strain energy dissipation, and the occurrence possibility of geological dynamic hazards is reduced at a rapid advancing velocity of working face.
