The prey-predator system with a single cross-diffusion pressure is known to possess a local solution with the maximal existence time $T\;{\leq}\;{\infty}$. By obtaining the bounds of $W\array_2^1$-norms of the local solution independent of T we establish the global existence of the solution. And the long-time behaviors of the global solution are analyzed when the diffusion rates $d_1\;and\;d_2$ are sufficiently large.

Information security has become increasingly important with the rapid development of mobile devices and internet. An efficient encryption system is a key to this end. In this paper, we propose an image encryption method based on the cross diffusion of two chaotic maps. We use two chaotic sequences, namely the Logistic map and the Chebyshev map, for key generation which has larger security key space than single one. Moreover, we use these two sequences for further image encryption diffusion which decreases the correlation of neighboring pixels significantly. We conduct extensive experiments on several well-known images like Lena, Baboon, Koala, etc. Experimental results show that our algorithm has the characteristics of large key space, fast, robust to statistic attack, etc.

Numerical simulations for the effects of secondary flow and turbulence diffusion on the particle concentration distributions have been carried out for the single stage electrostatic precipitator. The electrohydrodynamic secondary flow, particle concentration distribution and collection efficiency have been evaluated as a function of dimensionless parameters such as Re, $N_{end}$, $P_{e}$ x. The results of simulations show that for increasing secondary flow intensity the concentration distribution is drastically deformed and collection efficiency is decreased which is more than due to turbulent diffusion.n.n.
A novel technique for determining the oxygen tracer diffusion coefficients in oxides was developed. After the 16O-18O solid-gas exchange reactions between 16O in the oxides and 18O in the ambient gas, Raman spectra of the cross sections of oxide samples were measured in a spatial resolution of 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. From thus obtained Raman spectra, depth profiles of 18O concentration in the oxide samples were calculated. The oxygen tracer diffusion coefficients and the surface exchange coefficients were determined under the assumptions that samples are semi-infinite slab and that the surface exchange reactionsare not negligible. The oxygen tracer diffusion coefficient of 2.8 mol% Y2O3-containing tetragonal ZrO2 polycrystals, 8 mol% Y2O3-containing ZrO2 polycrystals, and 10 mol% Y2O3-containing cubic ZrO2 single crystals (along the a axis) are as follows.
A macroscopic cross section generation model was developed for the conceptual horizontal, compact high temperature gas reactor (HC-HTGR). Because there are many sources of spectral effects in the design and analysis of the core, conventional LWR methods have limitations for accurate simulation of the HC-HTGR using a neutron diffusion core neutronics simulator. Several super-cell model configurations were investigated to consider the spectral effect of neighboring cells. A new history variable was introduced for the existing library format to more accurately account for the history effect from neighboring nodes and reactivity control drums. The macroscopic cross section library was validated through comparison with cross sections generated using full core Monte Carlo models and single cell cross section for both 3D core steady-state problems and 2D and 3D depletion problems. Core calculations were then performed with the AGREE HTR neutronics and thermal-fluid core simulator using super-cell cross sections. With the new history variable, the super-cell cross sections were in good agreement with the full core cross sections even for problems with significant spectrum change during fuel shuffling and depletion.
Counter-diffusion of coronene desorbed from alumina with addition of tetra-phenylporphine was studied by spectrophotometry. The counter-diffusion processes of adsorbing and desorbing materials in liquid phase were simulated by counter-diffusion model based on Fritz's binary component isotherm under an assumption of equimass diffusion. The counter-diffusivities of desorbed coronene with addition of tetra-phenylporphine were as ${\sim}10^{-15}m^2/sec$ and that of adsorbed tetra-phenylporphine as ${\sim}10^{-11}m^2/sec$. The counter-diffusivity of coronene determined from desorption process was smaller by ${\sim}10^5$ times than the diffusivity determined from adsorption process of a single species. The reduction of the determined counter-diffusivity of coronene in desorption process was explained by the cross of diffusion fluxes and build-up of high gradient of coronene in pore.
To realize channel cross-connecting in optical communications systems, a high speed optical matrix switch was fabricated using z-cut $LiNbO_3$. For switch fabrication was design bending structure and coupling length and four $2{\times}2$ directional couplers were integrated on one substrate far construction of a $4{\times}4$ switch. Single-mode optical waveguides were formed by Ti-diffusion at a wet $O_2$ atmosphere. Ti-diffusion profile, refractive index variation and waveguide morphology were analyzed by Prism coupler and optical microscopy, respectively.

Like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's Disease(PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative brain disorders. PD results from the deterioration of dopaminergic neurons in the brain region called the substantia nigra. Currently there is no cure for PD, but diagnosing in its early stage is important to provide treatments for relieving the symptoms and maintaining quality of life. Unlike many diagnosis methods of PD which use a single biomarker, we developed a diagnosis method that uses both biochemical biomarkers and imaging biomarkers. Our method uses ${\alpha}$-synuclein protein levels in the cerebrospinal fluid and diffusion tensor images(DTI). It achieved an accuracy over 91.3% in the 10-fold cross validation, and the best accuracy of 72% in an independent testing, which suggests a possibility for early detection of PD. We also analyzed the characteristics of the brain fiber pathways of Parkinson's disease patients and normal elderly people.

In this work was produced and analyzed a z-cut Ti:LiNbO$_{3}$ optical waveguide which applies for various optical devices.A waveguide channel with a thickness 8 .mu.m and a length 66,000.mu.m and a mach-zehnder interferometer type waveguide were fabricated at a diffusion temperature 1050.deg. C for 6-8hours in a wet $O_{2}$ environment. The resulting Ti:LiNbO$_{3}$ optical waveguide was measured to have a Ti-strip thickness of 950.angs. and low loss. Surfaces and cross-sections of a fabricated waveguide were analysed. The mode pattern anaysis revealed that the waveguide showed a single mode at a 1550nm wavelength. The effective dimension of the waveguide was calculated by measuring a gaussian profile; Wx=10.95.mu. and Wy=9.14.mu.m. a propagation loss, of 0.50dB/cm for a TM mode and 0.45dB/cm for a TE mode, was low enough to be accepatable for optical devices.
The temperature variation at a laser rod center induced by high repetetion rate pumping was measured by counting the number of inteference frigne shift and found to be consistent with the theoretical value obtained from heat diffusion equation. The spatial homogeneity and energy transfer rate of flashlamp pumping by the single elliptical reflector plated with gold were evaluated by measuring interference fringes oever the cross section of a Nd:YAG laser rod.
