Compliance effect consideration method for real-time multibody vehicle dynamics is proposed using quasi-static analysis. The multibody vehicle model without bush elements is used based on the subsystem synthesis method which provides real-time computation on the multibody vehicle model. Reaction forces are computed in the suspension subsystem. According to deformation from the quasi-static analysis using reaction forces and bush stiffness, suspension hardpoint locations and suspension linkage orientation are changed. To validate the proposed method, quarter car simulations of McPherson strut and multilink suspension subsystems are performed. Full car bump run simulations and fish hook handling test simulations are also carried out comparing with the ADAMS vehicle model with bush elements. CPU times are also measured to see the real-time capabilities of the proposed method.
This paper deals with the analysis of a DC servo motel speed control system with PI-controller using the SPICE, which was developed as n simulation program for electronic circuits. The system including PI-controller is needed to be modelled for SPICE analysis. The system is divided to motor part, power conversion part, and control part for effective simulations. The overall system is reconstructed by using the above models and the steady-state and transient state are analyzed through SPICE simulations. The simulation results are verified by comparing with the results obtained by conventional simulations.

The authors present a more accurate analysis of the bit error rate (BER) performance for multicode code division multiple access (CDMA) systems equipped with a multipath interference canceler (MPIC) over multipath fading channels. At first, we consider the problem of previous researches. It is that the previous analyses do not match with simulations even in the case without MPIC. This mismatch also causes the difference between the analysis and simulations when an MPIC is applied. Therefore, what is needed is to verify the reason of this mismatch at the initial stage. Numerical results obtained from the proposed analytical method indicate that the performance mismatch between the previous analysis and simulations is caused by not fie Gaussian approximation which is generally used at the performance analysis of CDMA systems but the additional Gaussian approximation (AGA) for multipath interferences. Based on this effect, we propose a more accurate performance analysis not using AGA and its accuracy is verified by simulations. Furthermore, it is confirmed that the proposed analysis presents an analytical lower bound which can be achieved by MPIC.
A framework for multi-platform analytical and multi-component hybrid (testing-analysis) simulations is described in this paper and illustrated with several application examples. The framework allows the integration of various analytical platforms and geographically distributed experimental facilities into a comprehensive pseudo-dynamic hybrid simulation. The object-oriented architecture of the framework enables easy inclusion of new analysis platforms or experimental models, and the addition of a multitude of auxiliary components, such as data acquisition and camera control. Four application examples are given, namely; (i) multi-platform analysis of a bridge with soil and structural models, (ii) multiplatform, multi-resolution analysis of a high-rise building, (iii) three-site small scale frame hybrid simulation, and (iv) three-site large scale bridge hybrid simulation. These simulations serve as illustrative examples of collaborative research among geographically distributed researchers employing different analysis platforms and testing equipment. The versatility of the framework, ease of including additional modules and the wide application potential demonstrated in the paper provide a rich research environment for structural and geotechnical engineering.

Drop simulations of the board level in the flip chips with solder joints have been highlighted for years, recently. Also, through the study on the life prediction of thermal fatigue in the flip chips considering underfill, its importance has been issued greatly. In this paper, dynamic analysis using the implicit method in the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is carried out to assess the factors effecting on flip chips considering underfill. The design parameters are size and thickness of chip, and size, pitch and array of solder ball with composition of Sn1.0Ag0.5Cu. The board systems by JEDEC standard is modeled with various design parameter combinations, and through these simulations, maximum yield stress and strain at each chip are shown at the solder balls. Modal analysis is simulated to find out the relation between drop impact and vibration of the board system.
Purpose: Sensitivity analysis offers a good guideline for designing energy conscious buildings, which is fitted to a specific building configuration. Sensitivity analysis is, however, still too expensive to be a part of regular design process. The One-at-a-time (OAT) is the most common and simplest sensitivity analysis method. This study aims to propose a reasonable ground that the OAT can be an alternative method for the variance-based method in some early design scenarios, while the variance-based method is known adequate for dealing with nonlinear response and the effect of interactions between input variables, which are most cases in building energy simulations. Method: A test model representing the early design phase is built in the DOE2 energy simulations. Then sensitivity ranks between the OAT and the Variance-based methods are compared at three U.S. sites. Result: Parameters in the upper rank by the OAT do not much differ from those by the Main effect index. Considering design practices that designers would chose the most energy saving design option first, this rank similarity between two methods seems to be acceptable in the early design phase.

Naval ships are assigned many and varied missions. Their performance is critical for mission success, and depends on the specifications of the components. This is why performance analyses of naval ships are required at the initial design stage. Since the design and construction of naval ships take a very long time and incurs a huge cost, Modeling and Simulation (M & S) is an effective method for performance analyses. Thus in this study, a simulation core is proposed to analyze the performance of naval ships considering their specifications. This simulation core can perform the engineering level of simulations, considering the mathematical models for naval ships, such as maneuvering equations and passive sonar equations. Also, the simulation models of the simulation core follow Discrete EVent system Specification (DEVS) and Discrete Time System Specification (DTSS) formalisms, so that simulations can progress over discrete events and discrete times. In addition, applying DEVS and DTSS formalisms makes the structure of simulation models flexible and reusable. To verify the applicability of this simulation core, such a simulation core was applied to simulations for the performance analyses of a submarine in an Anti-SUrface Warfare (ASUW) mission. These simulations were composed of two scenarios. The first scenario of submarine diving carried out maneuvering performance analysis by analyzing the pitch angle variation and depth variation of the submarine over time. The second scenario of submarine detection carried out detection performance analysis by analyzing how well the sonar of the submarine resolves adjacent targets. The results of these simulations ensure that the simulation core of this study could be applied to the performance analyses of naval ships considering their specifications.

Comparative molecular simulations were performed to establish molecular interaction and inhibitory effect of flavonoid myricetin on formation of amyloid fibris. For computational comparison, the conformational stability of myricetin with amyloid $\beta$ -peptide (A$\beta$ ) and $\beta$ -amyloid fibrils (fA$\beta$) were traced with multiple molecular dynamics simulations (MD) using the CHARMM program from Monte Carlo docked structures. Simulations showed that the inhibition by myricetin involves binding of the flavonoid to fA$\beta$ rather than A$\beta$ . Even in MD simulations over 5 ns at 300 K, myricetin/fA$\beta$ complex remained stable in compact conformation for multiple trajectories. In contrast, myricetin/A$\beta$ complex mostly turned into the dissociated conformation during the MD simulations at 300 K. These multiple MD simulations provide a theoretical basis for the higher inhibitory effect of myricetin on fibrillogenesis of fA$\beta$ relative to A$\beta$ . Significant binding between myricetin and fA$\beta$ observed from the computational simulations clearly reflects the previous experimental results in which only fA$\beta$ had bound to the myricetin molecules.
Purpose: Quasi-steady state simulations have played a pivoting role to expand the user group of simulation to design engineers and architects in Korea. Initially they are introduced in the market as a building energy performance rating tool. In domestic practice, however, quasi-steady state simulations seem to be regarded as a de facto simulation only available for energy retrofit. Selection of ECMs and economic feasibility analysis are being decided through these tools, which implies that running these tools has become a norm step of the Investment-grade Audit. Method: This study aims at identifying issues and problems with the current practice via test cases, analyzing the reasons and opportunities, and then eventually suggesting proper uses of quasi-steady state and dynamic simulations. Result: The functionality of quasi-steady state simulations is more optimized to the rating. If they are to used for energy retrofits, their off-the-shelf functions also need to be expanded for customization and detailed reports. Yet their roles may be limited only to the go/no go decision; because their algorithms are still weak at precisely estimating energy and load savings that are required for making investment decisions compared to detailed simulations.

This paper analyzes, through simulations, GNSS interference mitigation performance against wideband and narrowband interferences by using spatial-temporal adaptive processing(STAP). The mathematical analysis results demonstrate that the array configuration has a considerable effect on the spatial-temporal correlation function. Based on the results, different array configurations are presented to evaluate and observe the effect on interference mitigation. The analysis results are further assessed through simulations.
