With scaled technology, timing analysis of circuits becomes more and more difficult. In this paper, we review recently developed circuit simulation techniques created to deal with the cost issues of transistor-level simulations. Various techniques for fast SPICE simulations and Monte Carlo simulations are introduced. Moreover, process and aging variation issues are mentioned, along with promising methodologies.

The performance functions of a suspension must provide often place conflicting demands upon rail bogie design since design parameters which may be altered to improve performance in one area may simultaneously reduce performance in another area. To determine compromised design parameters, it is need to carry out a number of simulations and trade-off studies. The suspension design system based on computer simulations is presented. The system is composed of analysis solvers and GUI which have functions such as modeling, analysis and sensitivity analysis.
The study is to probe a technical alternative to enhance the reliability and accuracy of the results of various landscape simulations. This study to present technical criteria that are necessary in each stage of target site analysis, picture taking, and computer synthesis and, through these to present supplementary plans to enhance the reliability and accuracy of landscape simulations. In order to derive more practical and empirical results in terms of the reliability of the results of landscape simulations, examples that actually passed landscape review were selected. With regard to study process, an analysis was made first to analyze the landscape report data of designs that passed the review to analyze their characteristics, to be followed by an integrated analysis of problems that were revealed in various landscape simulations. Important factors that affect directly the work of landscape simulations such as the specification of camera lenses that were used in picture taking, distance, and angle. Design the work was carried out using Auto CAD, 3DS Max, and Photoshop program in the same way as in actual design. For verification of their accuracy and reliability, the results were entrusted to experts who have implemented similar jobs. To seduce differences from those too landscape simulations that conduct trial experiment of the virtual space that are to be created in the future with accurate numerical values.

In this paper, the inundation simulations were carried out by using GIS tools for the analysis of detention efficiency based on the results of runoff analysis according to location and scale of regional detention facilities. The inundation maps could be drawn by the inundation simulations, and the locations and magnitude of inundation areas could be estimated through the inundation maps. The inundation simulations with GIS tools are approved to be the one of the useful method in designing optimized location and scale of regional detention facilities.

Computer simulations of a pdp discharges provide unique information necessary for their analysis, unavailable otherwise. Statistical instability of the ramp discharge and the role of exoemission, nature of striations during sustain discharge, physical mechanism responsible for the propagation of the cathode ionization wave, and line loading effects are just a few examples when simulations can be successfully used.
Watershed models have been increasingly used to support an integrated management of land and water, non-point source pollutants, and implement total daily maximum load policy. However, these models demand a great amount of input data, process parameters, a proper calibration, and sometimes result in significant uncertainty in the simulation results. For this reason, uncertainty analysis is necessary to minimize the risk in the use of the models for an important decision making. The objectives of this study were to evaluate three different uncertainty analysis algorithms (SUFI-2: Sequential Uncertainty Fitting-Ver.2, GLUE: Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation, ParaSol: Parameter Solution) that used to analyze the sensitivity of the SWAT(Soil and Water Assessment Tool) parameters and auto-calibration in a watershed, evaluate the uncertainties on the simulations of runoff and sediment load, and suggest alternatives to reduce the uncertainty. The results confirmed that the parameters which are most sensitive to runoff and sediment simulations were consistent in three algorithms although the order of importance is slightly different. In addition, there was no significant difference in the performance of auto-calibration results for runoff simulations. On the other hand, sediment calibration results showed less modeling efficiency compared to runoff simulations, which is probably due to the lack of measurement data. It is obvious that the parameter uncertainty in the sediment simulation is much grater than that in the runoff simulation. To decrease the uncertainty of SWAT simulations, it is recommended to estimate feasible ranges of model parameters, and obtain sufficient and reliable measurement data for the study site.
The uncertainty often observed in experimental strengths of masonry constituents makes critical the selection of the appropriate inputs in finite element analysis of complex masonry buildings, as well as requires modelling the building ultimate load as a random variable. On the other hand, the utilization of expensive Monte Carlo simulations to estimate collapse load probability distributions may become computationally impractical when a single analysis of a complex building requires hours of computer calculations. To reduce the computational cost of Monte Carlo simulations, direct computer calculations can be replaced with inexpensive Response Surface (RS) models. This work investigates the use of RS models in Monte Carlo analysis of complex masonry buildings with random input parameters. The accuracy of the estimated RS models, as well as the good estimations of the collapse load cumulative distributions obtained via polynomial RS models, show how the proposed approach could be a useful tool in problems of technical interest.
The analysis of a certian example and simulations given in the previous sections show that the modified FKA is more stable than the standard FKA without loss of the performance of it. The general analysis of modified FKA's numerical stability is the open problem with more simulations in order to prove the stability of it.
Mechanical behavior in nano-sized structures differs from those in macro sized structures due to surface effect. As the ratio of surface to volume increases, surface effect is not negligible and causes size-dependent mechanical behavior. In order to identify this size effect, atomistic simulations are required; however, it has many limitations because too much computational resource and time are needed. To overcome the restrictions of the atomistic simulations and graft the well-established continuum theories, the continuum model considering surface effect, which is based on the bridging technique between atomistic and continuum simulations, is introduced. Because it reflects the size effect, it is possible to carry out a variety of analysis which is intractable in the atomistic simulations. As a part of the application examples, the homogenization method is applied to micro/nano thin films with porosity and the homogenized elastic coefficients of the nano scale thickness porous films are computed in this paper.

Enantioselectivity of the propranolol on β-cyclodextrin was simulated by molecular modeling. Monte Carlo (MC) docking and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were applied to investigate the molecular mechanism of enantioselective difference of both enantiomeric complexes. An energetic analysis of MC docking simulations coupled to the MD simulations successfully explains the experimental elution order of propranolol enantiomers. Molecular dynamics simulations indicate that average energy difference between the enantiomeric complexes, frequently used as a measure of chiral recognition, depends on the length of the simulation time. We found that, only in case of much longer MD simulations, noticeable chiral separation was observed.
