Analysis of pollutant dispersion mechanism by restored canal at Dongbin harnor (수로의 복원으로 인한 동빈내항에서의 오염확산 양상의 해석)

  • The water quality at the Dongbin Harbor at Pohang city, is getting worse due to the sewage and the wastewater from communities. In this syudy, RMA2 and RMA4, which is two-dimensional depth-averaged finite element numerical model, were employed to simulate the improvement of water quality from inflowing water through an inland canal to be planned connecting Dongbin Harbor and the Hyeongsan River. For the comparative result of the numerical model, both the present condition and the restoration condition (after construction of an inland canal) is simulated. The results of these conditions reasonably simulate a real situation at the Dongbin Harbor. After construction of an inland canal, the water quality at the Dongbin Harbor will be compared to the fresh water quality of the Hyeongsan River at the steady state. Futhermore, The result of simulation will be used to decide the most effective dimension of the canal.

COMPARISON OF SHAPING ABILITY OF NICKEL-TITANIUM ROTARY FILES WITH DIFFERENT TAPER IN SIMULATED RESIN CANALS (모형레진 근관에서 엔진 구동용 니켈-타이타늄 파일의 경사도의 차이에 따른 근관성형력의 비교)

  • The aim of this study was to compare shaping ability of nickel-titanium rotary files with different taper in simulated resin canals. The instruments used in this study were GT with .04 taper ProFile with ISO-sized tip, .04 taper ProFile with ISO-sized tip alone, and .02 taper Naviflex file and all canals were prepared by crown-down technique. A total of 30 composite images were made from pre- and post-canal scanned images using Scanjet 4C scanner and Corel photopaint 8.0 and then, prevalence of canal aberrations was measured. The amount of coronal substance the instruments removed was also calculated two-dimensionally on digitized images with the Brain C software to compare the relative enlarging efficiency. Finally, the prepared internal canal form was evaluated three-dimensionally with impression technique. The results were as follows; 1. The incidence of zipping in Naviflex group was significantly high compared to the other two groups(P<.05). 2. The amount of coronal substance the GT combined group removed was significantly larger than the other two groups(P<.05). 3. The GT combined group produced canals with good taper and flow. Under the conditionas of this study, the combined use of larger tapered nickel-titanium rotary files prepared simulated canals safely, efficiently and with good three-dimensional form.

Shaping ability of Ni-Ti Rotary files in combination with GT Rotary Ni-Ti file (GT Rotary Ni-Ti file과 함께 사용한 구동용 Ni-Ti file의 근관 성형력 비교에 대한 연구)

  • 본 연구는 근관의 치관부는 GT Rotary file을 이용하여 성형하고, 근단부는 K-Flexofile, ProFile .04, Lightspeed, HERO642 file로 성형하여 근관용 file의 근관성형력을 비교하는 것이다. 실험 표본으로는 resin simulated root canal blocks(Dentsply, Swiss)를 이용하였고 4개의 군으로 분류하여 실험을 실시하였다. 모든 resin block을 GT Rotary file(Dentsply, Swiss)을 이용하여 치관부를 형성한 후 근단부는 K-Flexofile(Dentsply, Swiss), ProFile .04 taper file(Denstply. Swiss), Lightspeed file(Lightspeed Tech., USA), HERO642 file(Micromega, France)로 ISO size #35까지 형성하였다. 성형 후 preparation time과 instrument failure를 측정하였고 최종 사용한 file을 resin block 내에 재위치시켜 working length의 변화량을 0.5mm 단위로 측정하였다. Resin debris에 의한 canal blockage를 조사하였으며, 근관 내의 인상을 채득하여 canal form을 평가하였다. 성형 전과 성형 후의 사진을 촬영하고 computer software를 이용하여 중첩시킨 후 canal aberration, canal transportation을 평가하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. Preparation time, working length의 변화량, canal blockage, canal aberration, canal transportation에 있어서 Ni-Ti file이 stainless steel file에 비하여 우수하였다(p<0.05). 반면에 근관성형력에 있어서 canal form과 canal transportation을 제외하고는 세 Ni-Ti file 사이에는 유의차가 없었다(p>0.05). 2. Canal form 중 taper에 있어서 Lightspeed는 적절하지 못한 taper를 보여주었다(p<0.05). 3. Canal transportation에 있어서 Lightspeed 군과 HER0642 군이 K-Flexofile 군과 ProFile .04 군에 비해 적게 나타났고(p<0.05), 특히 만곡의 끝 부분에서는 Lightspeed 군이 가장 적게 나타났다(p<0.05). 이상과 같은 연구결과로 보아 부적절한 taper를 지니고 있던 Lightspeed fie과 HERO642 file 중 HERO642 file은 GT Rotary file과 함께 사용함으로써 적절한 taper로 형성할 수 있었으나 Lightspeed file은 효과적이지 못하였으므로 적절한 taper를 형성하기 위한 file이 치근의 중간부를 형성하기 위해 필요함이 확인되었다.

  • ;A new root canal instrument and instrumentation technique: a preliminary report. Cleaning and shaping the root canal system has been and continues to be a challenge for even the most experienced endodontist. Curved. narrow canals. in particular. cause difficulties for the beginner as well as the specialist. A new instrument designed to incorporate new concepts was developed to ameliorate the problems in cleaning and shaping root canal systems. This new instrument has been given the name of SW (Senia and Wildey). The new SW instrument uses controlled right and left rotational forces. This motion was used to clean and shape simulated root canals in plastic blocks and root canals in extracted teeth. Instrumentation appeared to be easier. faster. and more precise than with conventional instruments. especially in curved canals where there was remarkable reduction of canal transportation. A mechanical version of the SW instrument was also developed. It was used to flare the coronal portion of the root canal system. Wildey WL. Various factors must be considered in an analysis of instrumentation of the root canal system: the dentin that is cut: the technique used to cut it: the design of the instruments: the material and manufacturing process used to make the instruments: the irrigant used during the procedure: and the anatomic configuration of the root canal system. An analysis of these factors clearly indicates that existing root canal instruments and techniques are less than ideal and. in fact. do not accomplish what is expected of them. Root canals must be properly. but. at the same time. destructive and unnecessary removal of dentin should be kept to a minimum. The Flex-R and Canal Master instruments were developed to address some of the shortcomings of existing instruments and techniques. A micro-computed tomographic evaluation of root canal filling with a single gutta-percha cone and calcium silicate sealer

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the void of root canal filling over time when a calcium silicate sealer was used in the single gutta-percha cone technique. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four J-shaped simulated root canals and twenty-four palatal root canals from extracted human maxillary molars were instrumented with ProFile Ni-Ti rotary instruments up to size 35/0.06 or size 40/0.06, respectively. Half of the canals were filled with Endoseal MTA and the other half were with AH Plus Jet using the single gutta-percha cone technique. Immediately after and 4 weeks after the root canal filling, the samples were scanned using micro-computed tomography at a resolution of 12.8 ㎛. The scanned images were reconstructed using the NRecon software and the void percentages were calculated using the CTan software, and statistically analyzed by 1-way analysis of variance, paired t-test and Tukey post hoc test. Results: After 4 weeks, there were no significant changes in the void percentages at all levels in both material groups (p > 0.05), except at the apical level of the AH Plus Jet group (p < 0.05) in the simulated root canal showing more void percentage compared to other groups. Immediately after filling the extracted human root canals, the Endoseal MTA group showed significantly less void percentage compared to the AH Plus Jet group (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Under the limitations of this study, the Endoseal MTA does not seem to reduce the voids over time.

Warm lateral condensation using the Endotec II was then accomplished on the same 15 blocks. Another 15 resin blocks were obturated using the System B.(omitted)

  • The numerical simulation using LES-WASS-3D is developed to investigate the wave run-up on the revetment along the canal. Interaction of ocean wave, current, and Kelvin wave is investigated on 40 conditions varying the number of ship, cruising direction, and relative cruising location of ships, when a 650TEU container cruises in the canal. The mean wave run-up heights on the revetment are compared for every simulated conditions. The largest height of wave run-up is generated at the C-pair condition and the wave run-up generated at the canal entrance is larger than that at the inside canal. When Kelvin waves is interacted with the current, the mean wave run-up height is increased approximate 10% compared with no current condition.

EFFECT OF VARIOUS CANAL PREPARATION TECHNIQUES USING ROTARY NICKEL-TITANIUM FILES ON THE MAINTENANCE OF CANAL CURVATURE (수종의 엔진구동형 Nickel-Titanium file을 이용한 근관형성 방법이 근관만곡도 유지능력에 미치는 영향)

  • There are increasing usage of Nickel-Titanium rotary files in modern clinical endodontic treatment because it is effective and faster than hand filing due to reduced step. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of canal preparations using 3 different rotary Nickel-Titanium files that has different cross sectional shape and taper on the maintenance of canal curvature. Simulated resin block were instrumented with Profile(Dentsply, USA), GT rotary files(Dentsply, USA), Hero 642(Micro-Mega France), and Pro-Taper(Dentsply, USA). The image of Pre-instrumentation and Post-instrumentation were acquired using digital camera and overspreaded in the computer. Then the total differences of canal diameter, deviation at the outer portion of curvature, deviation at the inner portion of curvature, movement of center of the canal and the centering ratio at the pre-determined level from the apex were measured. Results were statistically analyzed by means of ANOVA, followed by Scheffe test at a significance level of 0.05. The results were as follows; 1. Deviation at the outer portion of curvature, deviation at the inner portion of curvature were showed largest in Pro-Taper so also did in the total differences of canal diameter(p<0.05). 2. All the groups showed movements of center Profile combined with GT rotary files and Hero 642 has no difference but Pro-Taper showed the most deviation(p<0.05). 3. At the 1, 2, 3mm level from the apex movements of center directed toward the outer portion of curvature, but in 4, 5 mm level directed toward the inner portion of curvature(p<0.05). As a results of this study, it could be concluded that combined use of other Nickel-Titanium rotary files is strongly recommended when use Pro-Taper file because it could be remove too much canal structure and also made more deviation of canal curvature than others.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the root canal shaping ability of four nickel-titanium rotary instruments. Forty eight simulated curved root canals were instrumented in plastic with the Crown-down technique using the $ProTaper^{TM}$ , the ProFile, the $GT^{TM}$, and the Quantec. Canals were instrumented until apical canal were up to size 30 by one operator. Each instrument was used only once and instrumentation time was measured.(omitted)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the two warm gutta-percha filling techniques by measuring the weight changes of resin blocks before and after canal filling in ribbon shaped canal. Simulated ribbon shaped root canals in 30 transparent resin blocks were instrumented to #40 using .06 taper Profile. 15 resin blocks were obturated with gutta-percha using cold lateral condensation. Warm lateral condensation using the Endotec II was then accomplished on the same 15 blocks. Another 15 resin blocks were obturated using the System B. All canals were obturated without sealer. The resin blocks were weighed after canal preparation and after each subsequent obturation, and then weight changes of the resin blocks were calculated The results were as follows. 1. Warm lateral condensation using Endotec II and continuous wave of condensation using System B produced a denser obturation of gutta-percha compared with conventional cold lateral condensation (p<0.01). 2. There was no significant difference between warm lateral condensation and continuous wave condensation. In conclusion, the warm gutta-percha condensation techniques like warm lateral condensation and continuous wave condensation can be expected to bring favorable canal obturation results in ribbon shaped canals.
