  • As software becomes more complicated and large-scaled, user's demands become more varied and his expectation levels about software products are raised. Therefore it is very important that a software engineer analyzes user's requirements precisely and applies it effectively in the development step. This paper presents a requirements analysis system that reduces and revises errors of requirements specifications analysis effectively. As this system measures the similarity among requirements documents and sentences, it assists users in analyzing the dependency among requirements specifications and finding the traceability, redundancy, inconsistency and incompleteness among requirements sentences. It also extracts sentences that contain ambiguous words. Indexing method for the similarity measurement combines sliding window model and dependency structure model. This method can complement each model's weeknesses. This paper verifies the efficiency of similarity measure techniques through experiments and presents a proccess of the requirements specifications analysis using the embodied system.

  • This paper is aimed at intensively examining the scope of legal protection for fashion designs under the Design Protection Act of Korea. For this purpose, this looked into how the Act defines the concept of design, its requirements, and the prerequisites for acquiring design rights. The study also reviewed statutory interpretations over the judgment of the identity and similarity of designs. For more practical and substantial discussions, this research utilized cases and precedents, which had relevant legal principles. This study also figured out how both the requirements for a design definition - such as merchantability, configuration, visibility, and aesthetics - and the prerequisites for acquiring design rights - like industrial applicability, novelty, and creativity - are interpreted and utilized in actual circumstances. The authors expressed their opinions regarding the criteria of judging the identity and similarity of designs, based on a study of previous cases. Previous rulings show that aesthetics of the exterior design is used as the criteria for determining whether a design is same or similar. So, two designs, which have different specific details, are deemed same or similar, if both designs show similarity in the dominant elements. This is because both designs will produce similar aesthetic qualities. However, if the dominant elements of a design are part of the public domain, and the specific details characterize the design, the latter has to be evaluated in the process. This paper examined scope of legal protection for fashion designs using relevant precedents. The study may serve as academic materials that lead to the establishment of rightful ownership in creative activities.

  • This study is focused on the investigation for similitude the requirements between prototype and scaled models to determine the structural behavior of concrete load bearing systems. The scaling concept has been utilized in many engineering branches, has been assisted to engineers and scientists for obtain the behavior of the prototype by using scaled model. The scaling can be done for two purposes, either scaling up or scaling down depending upon the application. Because, scaled down models are the experimentation on scaled models is cheaper than huge structures. These models also provide facilities for experimental work. Similarity relationships between systems are created either by field equations of the system or by dimensional analysis. Within this study, similarity relationships were obtained by both methods. The similarity relations obtained are applied to different load bearing systems and it is determined that the similarity relation is a general expression. In this study, as an example, column, frame, cantilever beam and simple beam are chosen and 1/2, 1/5 and 1/10 scales are applied. The results are compared with the analytical results which are obtained by creating of the finite element models with SAP2000 software of different scaled load bearing systems. The analysis results of all systems are examined and it is determined that the scale factors are constant depending on the scale types for different load bearing systems.

  • The STELLA program was launched to support the PGSFR development in 2012 and for the 2nd stage, the STELLA-2 facility was designed to investigate the integral effect of safety systems including the comprehensive interaction among PHTS, IHTS and DHRS. In STELLA-2, the long-term transient behavior after accidents can be observed and the overall safety aspect can also be evaluated. In this paper, the basic design concept from engineering basis to specific design is described. The design was aimed to meet similarity criteria and requirements based on various non-dimensional numbers and the result satisfied the key features to explain the reasoning of safety evaluation. The result of this study was used to construct the facility and the experiment is on-going. In general, the final design meets the similarity criteria of the multidimensional physics inside the reactor pool. And also, for the conservation of natural circulation phenomena, the design meets the similarity requirements of geometry and thermo-dynamic behavior.

  • The requirements of knowledge customization have increased as information resources have become more various and the numbers of the resources are increased. Even if the method for collecting the information has improved like Really Simple Syndication (RSS), information users are still struggling for extracting and customizing the required information through the Web. To reduce the burden, we offer the dynamic knowledge customization framework by using ontology-based CBR. The framework consisting of three phases is comprised of the conversion phase of web information as a machine-accessible case, the extraction phase to find a case appropriate for information users' requirements, and the case customization phase to create knowledge depending on information user's requirements. Newly, the dynamic and intensity-based similarity is adopted to support timely dynamic change of users' requirements. The framework has adopted to create traveler's knowledge to the level users wanted.

  • The loss due to caching replacement in the wireless mobile proxy caching structure has a significant effect on streaming QoS. This paper proposes a similarity-based caching loss minimization (SCLM) for minimizing the loss caused by the caching replacement. The proposed scheme divides object segments, and then it performs the similarity relation about them. Segments that perform the similarity relation generates similarity relation tree (SRT). The similarity is an important metric for deciding a relevance feedback, and segments that satisfy these requirements in the cache block for caching replacement. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better performance than the existing prefix caching scheme, segment-based caching scheme, and bi-directional proxy scheme in terms of QoS, average delayed startup ratio, cache throughput, and cache response ratio.

  • Plant engineering companies create or refer to requirements documents for each related field, such as plant process/equipment/piping/instrumentation, in different engineering departments. The process-related requirements document includes not only a description of the process but also the requirements of the equipment or related facilities that will operate it. Since the authors and reviewers of the requirements documents are different, there is a possibility that inconsistencies may occur between equipment or parts design specifications described in different requirement documents. Ensuring consistency in these matters can increase the reliability of the overall plant design information. However, the amount of documents and the scattered nature of requirements for a same equipment and parts across different documents make it challenging for engineers to trace and manage requirements. This paper proposes a method to analyze requirement sentences and calculate the similarity of requirement sentences in order to identify semantically identical sentences. To calculate the similarity of requirement sentences, we propose a named entity recognition method to identify compound words for the parts and properties that are semantically central to the requirements. A method to calculate the similarity of the identified compound words for parts and properties is also proposed. The proposed method is explained using sentences in practical documents, and experimental results are described.

  • In this paper, we propose a semantic similarity measure for reusable software components, which aims to provide the automatic classification process of reusable to be stored in the structure of a software library, and to provide an efficient retrieval method of the software components satisfying the user's requirements. We have identified the facets to represent component characteristics by extracting information from the component descriptions written in a natural language, composed the software component identifiers from the automatically extracted terms corresponding to each facets, and stored them which the components in the nearest locations according to the semantic similarity of the classified components. In order to retrieve components satisfying user's requirements, we measured a semantic similarity between the queries and the stored components in the software library. As a result of using the semantic similarity to retrieve reusable components, we could not only retrieve the set of components satisfying user's queries. but also reduce the retrieval time of components of user's request. And we further improve the overall retrieval efficiency by assigning relevance ranking to the retrieved components according to the degree of query satisfaction.
