  • Breakup models are evaluated using the experimental drop trajectory ill this study. The experimental conditions corespond to Weber # 56, 260, 463. Computations are carried out using a modified KIVA-II program with 2 different breakup submodel(TAB and Wave breakup model) and dynamic drag model which the drag coefficient changes dynamically with distortion parameter. Results show that computation with wave breakup model represents the experimental drop trajectory better than that with TAB submodel. And result with wave breakup model shows similar breakup pattern to experimental breakup process. It is thought that in wave breakup model the small drops are shed from the parent drop throughout parcel lifetime such thai this modelling represents the real breakup process well.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to estimate the trajectory of depressive symptoms among aged 20 years adults and examine the direct and indirect pathway linking socioeconomic status(education attainment, household income, occupation), alcohol use and depressive symptoms. It particularly focused on whether alcohol use would mediate the relationship between socioeconomic status and depressive symptoms. Methods: This study analysed 13,763 households of Korean Welfare Panel Study 1st, 2nd, 3rd data using Latent Growth Curve Modeling. Results: The results showed that study participants tend to decrease depressive symptoms with years. Similar to the findings of the previous studies, education attainment and household income among the socioeconomic status factors effected directly depressive symptoms and indirectly by mediating alcohol volume controlling sex and age. Conclusions: Based on findings of this study, the policy and practical implications were discussed.

  • The robotic shoe testing system that mechanically simulates human motion was proposed to overcome the problems associated with human subject tests. The objective of this study is to predict new motion trajectory for robot that will produce similar force and moment of particular human motion. In order to solve this problem, it is imperative to understand the dynamics of robot for shoe testing. The methodology using parameter estimation technique was proposed for this problem. Since the dynamics of robot is certainly different from that of human, it is necessary to adapt/modify the robot's trajectory for future analysis, which is currently under investigation.

  • In this paper, an optimal trunk trajectory for stable walking of biped robots is expressed as a simple differential equation, which is then solved by numerical methods. We used ZMP (Zero Moment Point), the virtual total ground reaction point within the region of the supporting food, as the criterion of stability of biped robot walking. If the ZMP is located outside of the stable region in dynamic walking, biped robots fall down. The biped robot considered in this paper consists of two legs and a trunk. The trajectories of the two legs and the ZMP of the biped robot are determined such that they are similar ti those of a human. Based upon those trajectories, the trunk trajectory is solved by numerically integrating differential dynamic equations. Leg motions are controlled by the computed torque control method. The effectiveness of control algorithm as well as the trajectories is confirmed by computer simulations.

  • As people's living standard is being improved, human works are being replaced by robots. However, because roost robots are used in process industry, fixed on the ground, we need to develop human robots that have wide applications. Currently many researches are being conducted on human robots with the object of replacing human works, but because of lack of relevant hardware, such robots are being applied limitedly to very simple tasks. To overcome the limitation, the present study developed a kinematical mechanism and a controller. Based on human kinematics, the shoulders and the arms were composed of master arms with 3 degree of freedom, and we reproduced motions similar to human ones through the characteristics of joint variables and experiment on the trajectory of the end effector.

  • This paper deals with the biped robot gait on changing the initial postures. Gait of a biped robot depends on the constraints of mechanical kinematics and initial posture. Also biped robot's dynamic walking stability is investigated by ZMP(Zero Moment Point). The path trajectory. with the knee joint bent like a human, is generated and applied with the above considerations. To decrease trajectory tracking error, in this paper, a new initial posture similar to bird's case is proposed and realized with the real robot.

  • Autonomous navigation of an indoor mobile robot using the global ultrasonic system is presented in this paper. Since the trajectory error of the dead-reckoning navigation grows with time and distance, the autonomous navigation of a mobile robot requires to localize the current position of the robot, so that to compensate the trajectory error. The global ultrasonic system consisting of four ultrasonic generators fixed at a priori known positions in the work space and two receivers on the mobile robot has the similar structure with the well-known satellite GPS(Global Positioning System), and it is useful for the self-localization of an indoor mobile robot. The EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) algorithm for the self-localization is proposed and the autonomous navigation based on the self-localization is verified by experiments.

  • This paper shows that a system with two-link arm can obtain hand reaching movement to a target object projected on a visual sensor by reinforcement learning using a layered neural network. The reinforcement signal, which is an only signal from the environment, is given to the system only when the hand reaches the target object. The neural network computes two joint torques from visual sensory signals, joint angles, and joint angular velocities considering the urn dynamics. It is known that the trajectory of the voluntary movement o( human hand reaching is almost straight, and the hand velocity changes like bell-shape. Although there are some exceptions, the properties of the trajectories obtained by the reinforcement learning are somewhat similar to the experimental result of the human hand reaching movement.

  • One of the biggest problems of skeletonization is the occurrence of distortions at the junction point of the final binary image. At the junction area, a single point usually becomes a small stroke, and the corresponding trajectory task, as well as the OCR, consequently becomes more complicated. We therefore propose an adaptive post-processing method that uses an adaptive threshold technique to correct the distortions. Our proposed method transforms the distorted segments into a single point so that they are as similar to the original image as possible, and this improves the static handwriting images after the skeletonization process. Further, we attained promising results regarding the usage of the enhanced skeletonized images in other applications, thereby proving the expediency and efficiency of the proposed method.

  • This paper newly proposes a modular type dynamic encoding algorithm for searches (DEAS) which partitions the whole parameters into several modules and carries out exhaustive DEAS for each module. uDEAS is used to measure parameter sensitivities to the cost function, and the variables whose sensitivities are similar are grouped to make a module. The proposed optimization method is applied to optimal trajectory generation for biped walking of a humanoid. and the optimization result is compared with those of the former versions of DEAS.
