  • When notions of numbers are expanded from natural number to complex number, a similar mathematical phenomenon can be observed in each number. As a case study, to complex number, the phenomenon is investigated carefully and teaching materials are created. Then complex number is expressed with matrices and is geometrically treated, so a new number which is an extension of complex number is discovered. Thus, teaching material regarding to complex number and matrices is made for students of ordinary level. Moreover, for talented students, material about an extension of complex number can be added to the previous one.

  • To understand seawater exchange are important to analyze the formation of watermass, material circulation and transfer of pollutant material etc. The purpose of this study is to review the previous studies and to propose new exchange ratio. where,$C_1$ ; average salinity of the water at low water$C_2$ ; average salinity of the water at the next low water$C_0$ ; average salinity of the water passing the bay mouth on the flood tide$V_2$ ; total water volume of the bay on the low water$V_0$ ; the volume of the remaining outer bay water entering during the flood tideSeawater exchange ratio of Dongho Bay calculated by new method are 26.1%, 23.8% respectevely. The average fresh water residence ratio calculated by equation (12) is 2.2 days, that is corresponding 23.5 % of exchange ratio. Thus, it appears similar result as proposed exchange ratio.

  • When a high-power laser beam is irradiated on the surface of material, it is well known that a cavity, called a keyhole induced by the pressure action of the vapor plume, is generated in the molten material. This paper describes the interaction between a pulsed CO$_2$ laser beam and water. The laser-beam is used to generate and maintain a conical depression in the water surface similar to the keyhole created during laser penetration welding. Experimental results show that the depth of laser-beam penetration is limited by hydrodynamic instability. The instability of the surface cavity can be understood by the capillary instability of a hollow jet. Theoretical computation of the steady keyhole shape has been performed. modifying the model suggested by Andrews et al. (1976). The model predicts the qualitative behavior of the keyhole but significantly underestimates the average diameter.

  • To develope output characteristics of GaAs MESFET, which utilized in high frequency ranges, $Al_{0.2}$Ga$_{0.8}$As/GaAs layer was used. In this case, to minimize effects of deep-level in $Al_{0.2}$Ga$_{0.8}$As/GaAs layer, aluminium mole fraction was design to 0.2. HP 4145B was used in measurement, I$_{dss}$ was 25mA when V$_{G}$=0. Maximum transconductance was 168.75mS/mm, electron mobility was 3750 $\textrm{cm}^2$/V-s, therefore, it must be suitable for active device in MMIC. Also, Ideality factor was 1.26, which was similar to that of ideal schottky diode.

  • Stable polyaniline-dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid(PANI-DBSA) fully dissolved in toluene was obtained by a direct one-step emulsion polymerization technique. By using the proper molar ratio of APS/aniline monomer and DBSA/aniline monomer, the highest conductivity(7 S/cm) of PANI was obtained. The UV-Vis absorption spectrum of PANI confirmed PANI is emeraldine salt form. PANI/styrene polymers (polystyrene and styrene-butadiene copolymer) blends were prepared by mixing PANI solution with polymers in toluene. These blends exhibited the conductivity of 10$\^$-4/-10$\^$-3/ S/cm at 1 wt. % of PANI content. The mechanical property of conducting blend was decreased and TGA thermograms of conducting blends were similar to that of PANI. It had been checked that the flatness of coating layers of conducting blends decreased with increasing conducting components. It was also found that the morphology of blends was setting closer to that of PANI at higher conducting component contents.

  • The electrical Properties of ZnO added TiO$_2$were investigated by using the complex impedance measurement and voltage-current source and measurement unit. The electrical conductivity of ZnO added TiO$_2$decrease with increasing the content of ZnO. The frequency-dependent Ac conductivity increase as frequency increase. Also, the trend of capacitances is similar to the AC conductivity. The semicircles of impedance spectrum increase with increasing ZnO contents. The decrease of electrical conductivity seems to be the effect of ZnO acceptor adding.

  • Conducting polymers have band structures similar to those of inorganic semiconductors such as silicon. Several electronic devices have been constructed with conjugated polymers, mainly Schottky diodes and Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors (MISFET's). Organic semiconductor has been reported as active materials in MISFET's.$^{1.4}$ In our laboratory, $\alpha$-Sexithiencyl ($\alpha$-6T) has been synthesized and purified by sublimation method. In this study, thin films of $\alpha$-Sexithienyl were prepared on various substrates in ultra-high vacuum chamber by vacuum evaporation method, so called OMBD(Organic Molocular Beam Deposition).$^{7.9}$ The $\alpha$-Sexithienyl thin films were deposited with various deposition conditions. The crystalline structure, and molecular orientation of these films have being studied by using UV/Vis. spectroscopy and X-Ray Diffractometry.

  • Normal zone propagaton(NZP) properties were investigated on Bi-223/Ag tapes and prototype HTS cable. NZP experiments in tape were conducted in temperatures from 45K to 77K in zero field. Prototype HTS cable was molded using epoxy and the experiments were carried out under adiabatic condition in LN$_2$. NZP velocities in tapes with tow conditions of DC and AC currents were almost same at each temperature. NZP velocity in prototype HTS cable was 1.9-2.4 cm/sec in LN$_2$. Numerical analysis was carried out by a one-dimensional equation of heat balance. The simulation results of NZP velocity in Bi-2223/Ag tapes were similar to the experimental results.

  • Bi-2212 and Bi-2223 thin films are prepared by IBS(ion beam sputtering) technique. Three phases of Bi-2201, Bi-2212 and Bi-2223 appear as stable ones in spite of the conditions for thin film fabrication of Bi-2212 and Bi-2223 compositions, depending on substrate temperature(Tsub) and ozone pressure(PO3). It is found out that these phases show similar Tsub and PO3 dependence, and that the stable regions of these phases are limited within very narrow temperature.

  • SiC had been widely applied for mechanical sealing as a sealing material. SiC sintering is commonly made of reaction sintering, presureless sintering, and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) sintering. In this investigation, however, clay bonded sintering was used to avoide any complications of the special sintering methods as mentioned above. In order to prevent harmful SiC oxidation in the clay bonded sintering, clay and frit were used to form the SiC oxidation protecting layer and graphite was added to provide high solid lubricity. As a result, the material with 6% clay (clay 5.4% and frit 0.6%) and 2~4% graphite (45 mesh) sintered at 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours, showed the following physical properties; porosity 6%, static friction coefficient 0.15, kinematic coefficient 0.1,. and specific wear rate 4.8$\times$10-8 $\textrm{mm}^2$kgf-1. On the other hand, the flexural strength was 900kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. This tribological characteristic properties were similar to those of the reaction sintered SiC except the flexural strength.
