  • Image feature extraction is one of the basic works for biometric analysis. This paper presents the novel concept of application of ridgelets for iris recognition systems. Ridgelet transforms are the combination of Radon transforms and Wavelet transforms. They are suitable for extracting the abundantly present textural data that is in an iris. The technique proposed here uses the ridgelets to form an iris signature and to represent the iris. This paper contributes towards creating an improved iris recognition system. There is a reduction in the feature vector size, which is 1X4 in size. The False Acceptance Rate (FAR) and False Rejection Rate (FRR) were also reduced and the accuracy increased. The proposed method also avoids the iris normalization process that is traditionally used in iris recognition systems. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method achieves an accuracy of 99.82%, 0.1309% FAR, and 0.0434% FRR.

  • The monitoring and the diagnosis of the faults in induction motors starting from the stator current are very interesting, since it is an accessible and measurable quantity. The spectral analysis of the stator current makes it possible to highlight the characteristic frequencies of the faults but in a wide frequency range depending on half the sampling frequency, making it very difficult to monitor on-line the faults. In order to facilitate the use of the relevant frequencies of machine faults we proposed the extraction of the frequency components using two methods, namely, the amplitude and the instantaneous frequency. The theoretical bases of these methods were presented and the results were validated on a test bench with an induction motor of 5.5 kw.

  • Within the paper an approach for the automatic extraction and reconstruction of buildings in urban built-up areas base on fusion of high-resolution satellite image and LIDAR data is presented. The presented data fusion scheme is essentially motivated by the fact that image and range data are quite complementary. Raised urban objects are first segmented from the terrain surface in the LIDAR data by making use of the spectral signature derived from satellite image, afterwards building potential regions are initially detected in a hierarchical scheme. A novel 3D building reconstruction model is also presented based on the assumption that most buildings can be approximately decomposed into polyhedral patches. With the constraints of presented building model, 3D edges are used to generate the hypothesis and follow the verification processes and a subsequent logical processing of the primitive geometric patches leads to 3D reconstruction of buildings with good details of shape. The approach is applied on the test sites and shows a good performance, an evaluation is described as well in the paper.

  • Recently, there are increasing damages by ransomware in the world. Ransomware is a malicious software that infects computer systems and restricts user's access to them by locking the system or encrypting user's files saved in the hard drive. Victims are forced to pay the 'ransom' to recover from the damage and regain access to their personal files. Strong countermeasure is needed due to the extremely vicious way of attack with enormous damage. Malware analysis method can be divided into two approaches: static analysis and dynamic analysis. Recent malwares are usually equipped with elaborate packing techniques which are main obstacles for static analysis of malware. Therefore, this paper suggests a dynamic analysis method to monitor activities of ransomware. The proposed method can analyze ransomwares more accurately. The suggested method is comprised of extracting signatures of benign program, malware, and ransomware, and selecting the most appropriate signatures for ransomware detection.

  • Jet engine modulation(JEM) is a technique used to identify the jet engine type from the radar target signature modulated by periodic rotation of the jet engine mounted on the aircraft target. As a new approach of JEM, this paper proposes an automatic algorithm for extracting the jet engine information. First, the rotation period of the jet engine is yielded from auto-correlation of the JEM signal preprocessed by complex empirical mode decomposition(CEMD). Then, the final blade number is estimated by introducing the DM(Divisor-Multiplier) rule and the 'Scoring' concept into JEM spectral analysis. Application results of the simulated and measured JEM signals demonstrated that the proposed algorithm is effective in accurate and automatic extraction of the jet engine information.

  • A moving object has a various features that its spatial location, shape, and size are changed as time goes. In addition, the moving object has both temporal feature and spatial feature. It is one of the highly interested feature information in video data. In this paper, we propose an efficient content-based multimedia information retrieval system, so tailed ECoMOT which enables user to retrieve video data by using a trajectory information of moving objects in video data. The ECoMOT includes several novel techniques to achieve content-based retrieval using moving objects' trajectories : (1) Muitiple trajectory modeling technique to model the multiple trajectories composed of several moving objects; (2) Multiple similar trajectory retrieval technique to retrieve more similar trajectories by measuring similarity between a given two trajectories composed of several moving objects; (3) Superimposed signature-based trajectory indexing technique to effectively search corresponding trajectories from a large trajectory databases; (4) convenient trajectory extraction, query generation, and retrieval interface based on graphic user interface

  • Various corpus-based approaches, rhetorical roles of discourse structure, and unifications of similar sentences were applied to construct the automatic Ext/Sums(extracts and summaries). Rhetorical roles of sentences like objective, method, background, result, conclusion, etc. for making elastic Ext/Sums were established and extraction engines according to respective role were prepared. The $90\%$ of Success rate in extracting the important sentences of sample articles was accomplished. Rearranging the selected sentences, it used unification of similar sentences using the cosine coefficient equation, deletion of unnecessary modification and insertion clauses, junction of short sentences, and connection of sentences able to link. They suggest the methods applying rhetorical roles of sentences, meaning and signature of noun and verb in clauses, and cue words and location will be researched to construct the more effective Ext/Sums.

  • Without output covariance estimation, one reference-based Stochastic Subspace Technique (SST) for extracting modal parameters and flutter derivatives of bridge deck is developed and programmed. Compared with the covariance-driven SST and the oscillation signals incurred by oncoming or signature turbulence that adopted by previous investigators, the newly-presented identification scheme is less time-consuming in computation and a more desired accuracy should be contributed to high-quality free oscillated signals excited by specific initial displacement. The reliability and identification precision of this technique are confirmed by a numerical example. For the 3-DOF sectional models of Sutong Bridge deck (streamlined) and Suramadu Bridge deck (bluff) in wind tunnel tests, with different wind velocities, the lateral bending, vertical bending, torsional frequencies and damping ratios as well as 18 flutter derivatives are extracted by using SST. The flutter derivatives of two kinds of typical decks are compared with the pseudo-steady theoretical values, and the performance of $H_1{^*}$, $H_3{^*}$, $A_1{^*}$, $A_3{^*}$ is very stable and well-matched with each other, respectively. The lateral direct flutter derivatives $P_5{^*}$, $P_6{^*}$ are comparatively more accurate than other relevant lateral components. Experimental procedure seems to be more critical than identification technique for refining the estimation precision.

  • This paper deals with the method to classify the aircraft target by analyzing its JEM signal. We propose the method to classify the engine model by analyzing JEM spectrum using the harmonic frequency mask generated from the blade information of jet engine. The proposed method does not need the complicated logic algorithm to find the chopping frequency in each rotor stage and the pre-simulated engine spectrum DB used in the previous methods. In addition, we propose the method to estimate the precise spool rate and it reduces the error in estimating the number of blades or in calculating the harmonic frequency of frequency mask.
