  • Currently, there are many efforts underway to provide Internet service on integrated wireless and wired networks. Supporting IP mobility is one of the major issues to construct IP based wireless network. Mobile IP has been proposed to solve the IP Mobility problem. But, in processing frequent handoffs in cellular based wireless access network, Micro mobility protocols have been proposed to solve these problems. Micro mobility protocols proposed the Cellular IP, HAWII, and Hierarchical Mobile IP. Cellular IP attracts special attention for it's seamless mobility support in limited geographical areas. New BS must be known to occur begging of handoff in Cellular IP indirect handoff. Therefore during perceiving of hanoff, packet loss or packet duplication still can occur in Cellular IP indirect handoff, which results in the degradation of UDP and TCP performance. In this paper, we propose a enhanced indirect handoff scheme for Cellular IP. Proposed handoff scheme is using a crossover node to minimize the signalling procedure and using a buffering to minimize the packet loss or packet duplication.

  • This paper proposes a new fast vertical handover mechanism to optimize and enhance the existing fast vertical handover HMIPv6(FV-HMIP) mechanism in heterogeneous wireless access networks. The proposed mechanism ad opts the IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover Function(MIHF), and thus is called the "MFV-HMIP". The Media Independent Handover Service (MIIS) in the IEEE 802.21 MIHF is extended by including new L3 inform ation to provide domain prefixes of heterogeneous neighbouring mobility anchor points(MAPs). This can eliminate the heterogeneous neighbouring MAP discovery phase in the existing FV-HMIP. Thus, the proposed MFV-HMIP can reduce the signalling traffic over wireless link and increase the possibility of predictive mode operation. Therefore, the proposed MFV-HMIP mechanism can be superior to the existing FV-HMIP mechanism for wireless resource efficiency, handover latency, and packet loss. Through analytic performance evaluations and computer si mulations, the proposed mechanism can be shown to optimize and enhance the existing mechanism.

  • Mobile radio technologies have evolved in the railway industry offering seamless connectivity and various functionalities to improve railway service. Recently, advanced mobile communication technologies have enabled a new level of railway customer services with more efficient railway operation. Since the LTE mobile communication technology offers many benefits and better performance for new railway services, it is considered to be a strong candidate for the future railway mobile telecommunication. However, communication networks in the railway sector are critical for secure operation and have stringent requirements for reliability and safety. In this paper, we explain the requirements for the future railway mobile telecommunication. The LTE, which would be the future railway mobile technology, is analyzed against these requirements. We also introduce the current state of standardization for the future railway mobile telecommunication and its implementation plan.

  • Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is designed to provide a network-based localized mobility management protocol, but it does not handle the global mobility of hosts. In this paper, we propose a location management scheme based on Domain Name System (DNS) for PMIPv6. In this proposed scheme, DNS as a location manager provides PMIPv6 for global mobility. In addition, a paging extension scheme is introduced to PMIPv6 in order to support large numbers of mobile terminals and enhance network scalability. To evaluate the proposed location management scheme, we establish an analytical model, formulate the location update and the paging cost, and analyse the influence of the different factors on the total signalling cost. The performance results show how the total signal cost changes under various parameters.

  • A Next Generation Network (NGN) is a packet-based network able to provide services including Telecommunication Services and able to make use of multiple broadband, QoS-enabled transport technologies and in which service-related functions are independent from underlying transport-related technologies. It offers unrestricted access by users to different service providers. It supports generalized mobility which will allow consistent and ubiquitous provision of services to users In this paper, we explain the trend of standardization activity related with open services in ITU-T SG13(Study Group 13). ITU-T SG13 is responsible for studies .elating to the architecture, evolution and convergence of next generation networks including frameworks and functional architectures, signalling requirements for NGN.

  • In this paper,we propose applicable methodology using simple scenarios for the architecture and its procedure of sibnalling at the NNI for B-ISDN in Korea.By the recent technologies, the flexible and intergrated networks of the future are designed, and the infrastructure hardware and software of those networks are sdsigned based on the modular concepts. Also the ATM-based B-ISDN must be able to support the broadband transmission function for providing various services with diverse bandwidths such as multimedia serivce and the function for controlling services and bandwidth is necessaty.Currently, the trquirements at the NNI for B-ISDN in korea atr based on the network mode connection type which is connection setup strucuture. They must show the upper/lower layer conformance to have the flexibility in new services and guarantee the interoperability between the network functions. But,network functions and protocol specifications described in this paper are limity to the first stage target system in korea. Therefore,we present the modular architecture which is corresponding to the B-ISUP of HAN/B-ISDN with those characteristics.Currently applicable architecture and procedure for B-ISUP and the functions of expandable modular architecture are also proposed.

  • DMB provides various kinds of data services such as BWS and TPEG service in addition to audio and video services. But recently the necessity of new business models creating profit has been on the rise due to the saturation of DMB receiver market and break-down of market barrier between mobile IPTV and DMB services. This paper introduces DMB filecasting service technology, which can be expected a new profit-creative business model. The purpose of DMB filecasting service is to transmit non-real time multimedia contents based on DMB AF format to the users through DMB channels. It makes possible to consume DMB contents with any DMB-installed device anytime, anywhere and share them with others. Also DMB filecasting service makes consumption and request of DMB contents possible to be extented to a variety of networks as well as DMB channels. The paper explains the standardization status of DMB filecasting service and various DMB filecasting service scenarios. And also it proposes a signalling methode, a transmission and reception protocol and a receiver structure using DMB broadcasting program guide information.
