Risk Management Qualitatively on Railway Signal System

  • Risk management is an important part of system assurance and it is widely used in safety-related system. Railway signal system is one kind of safety-related system and its most important goal is to guarantee the safety of railway system. The method based on risk management can find and solve the security issues of railway signal system more effectively. This paper introduces the basic conception of risk management, studies the whole process of risk management and related tools and techniques and discusses some key points qualitatively combining with the particularity of railway signal system.

  • The function estimation characteristics of neural networks can be used for sensor signal validation of a system. In case of applying the neural networks to signal validation, it is a important problem that the redundant sensor signals used as a input signal of neural networks should be validated. In this paper, we simplify the conventional parity space method in order to input the validated signal to the neural networks and also propose the sensor signal validation method, which estimates the reliable sensor output combining neural networks with the simplified parity space method. The acceptability of the proposed signal validation method is demonstrated by using the simulation data in safety injection accident of nuclear power plants.

A Development of GPS SIS Anomalies Generation Software

  • In this paper, GPS signal anomaly generation software is proposed which can be used for the analysis of GPS signal anomaly effect and the design, verification, and operation test of anomalous signal monitoring technique. For the implementation of anomalous signal generation technique, anomalous signals are generated using a commercial signal generation simulator, and their effects and characteristics are analyzed. An error model equation is proposed from the result of analysis, and the anomalous signal generation software is constructed based on this equation. The proposed anomalous signal generation software has high scalability so that users can easily utilize and apply, and is economical as the additional cost for purchasing equipment is not necessary. Also, it is capable of anomalous signal generation based on real-time signal by comparing with the commercial signal generation simulator.

개선된 SSTDR을 이용한 케이블 고장 검출과 위치 계산 (Detection and Location of Cable Fault Using Improved SSTDR)

  • This paper proposes an improved spread spectrum time domain reflectometry (ISSTDR) using time-frequency correlation and reference signal elimination method in order to have more accurate fault determination and location detection than conventional (SSTDR) despite increased signal attenuation due to the long distance to cable fault location. The proposed method has a two-step process: the first step is to detect a peak location of the reference signal using time-frequency correlation analysis, and the second step is to detect a peak location of the correlation coefficient of the reflected signal by removing the reference signal. The proposed method was validated through comparison with existing SSTDR methods in open-and short-circuit fault detection experiments of low voltage power cables. The experimental results showed that the proposed method can detect correlation coefficients at fault locations accurately despite reflected signal attenuation so that cable faults can be detected more accurately and clearly in comparison to existing methods.

신호기 위치에 따른 딜레마존 안전율 분석 (Analysis of Dilemma Zone Safety Considering Signal Location)

  • 교통신호기의 설치목적 중 하나는 교통신호기를 통해 차량의 이동을 명확히 규제하여 교통사고를 사전에 방지하는데 있다. 하지만, 부적절한 신호기 위치로 인해 교차로에 접근하는 운전자가 안전운행에 필요한 행태를 나타내지 못한다면, 교통 안전도를 높이기 위한 방안으로 현장상황에 적합한 설치기준 또는 권고사항이 현장조사 및 분석을 통해서 제시되어야 할 필요가 있다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구는 도심 신호교차로의 신호기 위치가 교차로에 접근하는 운전자의 운전행태에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석한 결과, 신호기 위치는 딜레마존을 형성하는 운전자의 감속시작지점과 접근속도에 따른 딜레마존 분포에 영향을 미치며, 더욱이 딜레마존 안전율과 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 본 연구는 신호교차로의 교통안전도를 향상하기 위한 대안으로 교통신호기를 정지선 근처로 이설 또는 설치하는 방안을 다룬 신호기 설치운영 권고안을 제안하여 현장 활용도를 제고하고자 하였다.

  • Loose Par Monitoring System(LPMS) is one of the fundamental diagnostic tools installed in the nuclear power plants. In this paper, recovery process algorithm and model for the corrupted impact signal generated by loose parts is presented. The characteristics of this algorithm can obtain a proper burst signal even though background noise is considerably high level comparing with actual impact signal. To verify performance of the proposed algorithm, we evaluate mathematically signal-to-noise ratio of primary output and noise. The performance of this recovery process algorithm is shown through computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we implement a portable bioelectric signal measurement system for the safety of industrial workers. The developed system consists of two parts: the one is boielectric signal measurement unit and the other is signal analyzer system with PDA. The former includes signal processing part, A/D convertor, and 8051 based microprocessor, the latter includes software for signal analysis and display. The developed system detects industrial worker's ECG and displays and stores it to PDA. The ECG data in PDA can be transmitted to PC located in a distance, allowing a doctor to review the ECG and make a treatment decision. A doctor analyzes the ECG data and gives medical treatment to industrial worker.

신호체계와 신호수 교육 개선을 통한 양중 작업 중 타워 크레인 사고 저감 대책 (Measures to Reduce Tower Crane Accidents During Operation by Improving Signal System and Education for Signalmen)

  • As the tower crane accident emerged as a social issue in 2017, various government measures were prepared. Most of the measures are focused on erecting, climbing, and dismantling phases. Analyzes of 84 serious accidents related to tower cranes from 2000 to 2018 and 104 near misses accidents from 2016 to 2018 revealed that 50% of the serious accidents occurred during the operating phase. The main occupation influencing operating phase accidents was signalman(81.6% of serious accidents), whose communication and competency were governing causes. This result was the same in 294 questionnaires to signalmen. Signal systems and education policies for tower crane signalman in Korea and foreign countries were analyzed, and standardization of wireless signal system and improvement of education system were propose.

선박작업 안전을 위한 수신호 통일지침 마련에 관한 연구(1) - 선박의 수신호 체계 표준화 타당성 검증을 중심으로 (A Study on Harmonized Hand Signal Standards for Shipboard Work Safety (1): A Validity Analysis of Ship Hand Signal Standardization)

  • 본 연구는 수신호 통일지침 개발을 위한 사전연구로 선박작업시 의사소통 수단으로서 수신호 체계의 활용가능성과 표준화 타당성을 검토하였다. 실증연구에 앞서 선박안전관리자의 의견을 수렴하여 수신호 활용가능성이 있는 선박작업활동을 분류하고, 이러한 작업활동 하에 작업자의 수신호 활용의사와 제도적 표준화 선호도를 측정하였다. 통계분석(t-검정, 상관관계분석) 결과 응답자들은 근무형태(선원/육상선박 안전관리감독)와 근무환경(갑판부/기관부)에 관계없이 수신호 소통이 가능한 작업활동에서는 표준화된 수신호 체계를 의사소통 수단으로 적극 수용할 의사가 있었다. 또한, 주어진 선박작업활동 종류에 따라 응답자의 수신호 활용빈도는 유의미한 차이가 있으나 표준화 선호도와는 강한 양(+)의 상관관계에 있었다. 따라서 후속연구로 응답자의 수신호 활용빈도가 높은 크레인 운용, 윈드라스 윈치 운용, 삭류 이동/전달, 화물창 운용 등 항만내 작업활동들을 우선순위로 수신호 통일지침을 설계한다면 선박작업자간 의사소통 개선에 효과적일 수 있다는 결론을 얻었다.

잡음 감소를 위한 창 함수의 선택에 관한 연구 (Appropriate Choice of Window Function for Noise Reduction)

  • This paper shows a performance estimation of windowing a single tone with added Gaussian noise and uniform noise. Signal-to-noise ratio can be determined by the ratio of the output noisy signal variance to the input noisy signal variance of a window. Standard deviation of noise is reduced by windowing Signal-to-noise ratio of the noisy signal is reduced by the windowing operation. Thus, performance of window function can be determined by this filtering operation that improved the signal-to-noise ratio.
