  • This paper aims to make an artificial arm control strategy. For this, we propose a new feature extraction method and design artificial neural network for the functional classification of myoelectric signal(MES). We first transform the two channel myoelectric signals (MES) for biceps and triceps into frequency domain using fast Fourier transform (FFT). And features were obtained by comparing the magnitudes of ensemble spectrum data and used as inputs to the three-layer neural network for the learning. By changing the number of units in hidden layer of neural network we observed the improvement of classification performance. To observe the effeciency of the proposed scheme we performed experiments for classification of six arm functions to the three subjects. And we obtained on average 94[%] the ratio of classification.

  • Recently, the disturbance caused by an optical disk vibration and the external vibration/shock are more serious problem in an optical disk drives (ODD) as an ODD become small size and rotation speed increases. The conventional controller cannot cope with the mentioned problems properly when the disturbance and vibration are larger than some range. Therefore, we propose a new control scheme using a disturbance observer (DOB) and it can control the aforementioned problems. The designed the controller is applied to a commercial ODD in focusing direction, then its validity is proved by experimental method. By rising the disturbance observer theory, the focusing performance is conspicuously improved in the presence of sinusoidal vibrations or a shock disturbance. This algorithm also applies to a tracking structure also, because focusing structure is very similar to it.

  • This paper presents a rotational motion estimation and correction technique for digital image stabilization. An equivalent rotation model is derived so as to accommodate a combined rotational and the translational motion. Thanks to this simplification, the suggested estimation algorithm can directly find the rotational center using geometric characteristic of local motion vectors instead of using searching method. And we also present recursive version of frame to reference algorithm(FRA) for the real time implementation. The proposed DIS system does not require time consuming parameter searching process, while showing comparatively good performance compared with the previous ones. To show the effectiveness of the DIS scheme, the algorithm has been implemented on the DSP based hardware system and experimental results are also discussed.

  • Optical axis misalignment, which represents the position deviation of the objective lens from the optical axis, is an inevitable assembly error in an optical pick-up. Since the laser power intensity varies with respect to the distance from the optical axis, the misalignment leads to variation of the laser spot power intensity, which is one of the critical factors increasing data bit-error-rate in optical disc drives. In this paper, an auto-adjustment scheme for optical axis alignment is proposed to eliminate the undesirable variation of the laser spot power intensity in optical disc drives. An envelope of the data RF signal is extracted and utilized to detect the optical axis misalignment. Then an adjustment input is added to the driving input of the tracking actuator to shift the objective lens to the optical axis. Finally, the feasibility is verified by experiments.

  • This paper deals with a fault diagnosis algorithm for open faults in the switching devices of PWM inverter-fed IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) drive. The proposed diagnostic algorithm is realized in the controller using the informations of three-phase currents or reference line-to-line voltages, without requiring additional equipments for fault detection. Under switch open fault conditions, the conventional dq model used to control an AC motor cannot directly be applied for the analysis of drive system, since three-phase balanced condition does not hold. To overcome this limitation, a fault model based on the line-to-line voltages is employed for the simulation studies. For comparative performance evaluation through the experiments, the entire control system is implemented using digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F28335. Simulations and experimental results are presented to verify the validity of the proposed diagnosis algorithm.

  • As rotor position is a reference of coordinate in vector control of PMSM, the information of exact rotor position is required. To measure the position of motors, hall-effect sensors, encoders, resolvers, etc. are used. Among these sensors, resolvers have good endurance in the variation of circumstance and can be used in a wide range of temperature, but resolvers are less exact than encoders. In addition, resolvers have a drawback that the output signal contains periodic error components. Thus, this paper proposes a compensation method for the unique position error in resolvers using Kalman filter to achieve high performance control of PMSM. The validity of the proposed scheme is demonstrated through simulation studies.

  • This paper presents a design scheme of the active noise absorber that consists of the feedforward and feedback controller. The feedback controller aims to increase damping for the specific acoustic mode. The feedforward controller synthesizes the input signal coherent with the primary noise source in order to attenuate the noise field in the broad frequency range. The feedforward controller is adapted to the variation of acoustic plants using the proposed algorithm which compensates the effect of feedback link. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective for the active control of band-limited noise fields in the enclosure.

  • In this work, the secrecy of a typical wireless cooperative dual-hop non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)-enabled decode-and-forward (DF) relay network is investigated with the impact of collaborative and non-collaborative eavesdropping. The system model consists of a source that broadcasts the multiplexed signal to two NOMA users via a DF relay, and information security against the eavesdropper nodes is provided by a helpful jammer. The performance metric is secrecy rate and ergodic secrecy capacity is approximated analytically. In addition, a differential evolution algorithm-based power allocation scheme is proposed to find the optimal power allocation factors for relay, jammer, and NOMA users by employing different jamming schemes. Furthermore, the secrecy rate analysis is validated at the NOMA users by adopting different jamming schemes such as without jamming (WJ) or conventional relaying, jamming (J), and with control jamming (CJ). Simulation results demonstrate the superiority of CJ over the J and WJ schemes. Finally, the proposed power allocation outperforms the fixed power allocation under all conditions considered in this work.

  • Tone injection scheme has been known as one of peak to average power ratio (PAPR) reduction methods deployable to multi-carrier system like orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). The basic idea in tone injection scheme is to enforce the constellation size larger so that each of original constellation points is mapped into the preassigned distinct locations. According to the tone injection scheme, it increases symbol power highly induced inherently by expanding constellation to get optimal PAPR reduction. In the other hand, to get optimal power increase, the PAPR would be reduced insufficiently with limited tone injection signal. To withstand these problems, this paper consider the reduction of the PAPR and power increase problem simultaneously, Toward this, the tone injection scheme accomplished by employing the weighted sum genetic algorithm which has been utilized to solve multi-objective optimization problem (MOOP). The simulation results verifies that the proposed scheme can control the effective PAPR performance and alleviation of power increase flexibly by the weight value at the expense of relatively low complexity.

  • IEEE 802.11 WLAN uses CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance) method in MAC(Media Access Control) protocol, and through the carrier sense checks whether other users use the channel during the data transmission to avoid the data collision. Currently, IEEE 802.11 standard recommends the use of a fixed threshold which gives an impact on carrier sensing range. However, the existing scheme using the fixed threshold causes the operation of network to be inefficiency owing to the mobility in MANET(Mobile Ad hoc NETwork). In this paper, we found the better network throughput to be obtained by applying the proposed scheme, which chooses properly the carrier sensing threshold and transmission rate considering SINR(Signal to Interference-plus-Noise Ratio), to the MANET.
