  • Nitrous oxide, which is used as an anesthetic gas, has been shown to be a chronic health hazard. It is necessary to monitor and control the nitrous oxide exposure of the operating theaters staff. In this study, N2O exposure level of the operating nurses is assessed with a GC-ECD. The nitrous oxide gas is collected on a molecular sieve 5A contained in a glass tube and desorbed for 12 hours at $100^{\circ}C$ in heating block. As a result of the test using GC-ECD, calibration curve's $R^2$ of $N_2O$ is 0.9992, LOD is $0.96{\mu}g$/injection, LOQ is $3.21{\mu}g$/injection, desorption efficiency is 94.78 4.50% in average and break through is within 10% compared with the concentration. The average concentration before operation is 5.12ppm and it is 42.3ppm during operation. There are a significant difference showing that the P value is lower than 0.05. Assessing exposure level to nitrous oxide based on nurses' working positions, the exposure levels do not show significant difference( P>0.005). And $N_2O$ in active sampling method is higher than passive sampling method(P<0.05).

  • Grain size distributions of sediment samples were analyzed by the different methods, and the results were compared. Reported data of the bottom sediments from the Korean seas show significant deviations among the institutes, and the inter-lab comparison and calibration procedures are considered to be necessary. Grain size data by different methods show different results. Laser diffraction method provides good precision in replicate analysis, but underestimates the amounts of finer (smaller than 2-3 ${\mu}m$) fraction. Data from particle settling method, on the other hand, represent significant errors in the coarse silt (5-6 ${\phi}$) fraction, and slightly overestimate the clay fraction. In the sieve and pipette methods, best results were taken in 0.5 ${\phi}$ interval of analysis. Especially in the coarse silt fraction, pipette analysis is suggested to be made with 0.5 ${\phi}$ interval. During the dry sieving procedure in 1 ${\phi}$ interval, serious errors occur when large amounts of sample materials were concentrated in a particular sieve.

  • The effect of soil grinding on total As and Pb concentrations determined by aqua regia method was examined. Among six field-collected, air-dried soil samples tested, soils A, B, C, and E were directly sieved through a $150-{\mu}m$ sieve without grinding and showed 2.18 to 3.03 times higher total As concentrations and 2.62 to 3.45 times higher total Pb concentrations than those of the soil samples prepared to allow all soil particles to pass through the $150-{\mu}m$ sieve by grinding. The reason can be ascribed to the fact that those soils contain fine particles (i.e., < $150{\mu}m$ in diameter) only 4.6 to 6.8% of the total soil weights. On the other hand, for D and F soils, fine particles smaller than $150{\mu}m$ accounted for 57 and 46%, respectively, so that the effect of grinding on As and Pb concentrations were relatively low (As: 1.15 and 1.23 times, Pb: 1.36 and 1.49 times, respectively). The result demonstrates that grinding prior to $150-{\mu}m$ sieving is necessary to ensure the homogeneity of soil samples and hence to obtain more accurate heavy metal concentrations in soils. This is especially true for soil samples with less fine soil particles and/or microaggregates (i.e., below $150{\mu}m$).

  • We report an easy and efficient method for separating zircon grains using a gold pan and disposable sieve together with the tap water. Samples powdered to less than $230{\mu}m$ in grain size are placed on the water-filled pan tilted at about $10^{\circ}$. The outflowing water flooded with low-density particles is screened by a ${\sim}70{\mu}m$ sieve. The most efficient rate of water outflow is estimated to be 0.1 L/sec, when the distance between the tap and the surface of water-filled pan is kept at 20-25 cm. After 20-30 minutes of water outflow, heavy mineral fractions are ready for zircon collection using a hand magnet (and heavy liquid when necessary) or simply hand-picking. This procedure is most likely applicable for the separation of other heavy minerals including monazite.

  • RSA cryptosystem is one of the most widely used public key cryptosystem. The security of RSA cryptosystem is based on hardness of factoring large number and hence there are ongoing attempt to factor RSA modulus. General Number Field Sieve (GNFS) is currently the fastest known method for factoring large numbers so that CADO-NFS - publicly well-known software that was used to factor RSA-704 - is also based on GNFS. However, one disadvantage is that CADO-NFS could not always select the optimal polynomial for given parameters. In this paper, we analyze CADO-NFS's polynomial selection stage. We propose modified polynomial selection using Chinese Remainder Theorem and Euclidean Distance. In this way, we can always select polynomial better than original version of CADO-NFS and expected to use for factoring RSA-1024.

  • In this work, an intention to synthesize the carbon molecular sieve (CMS) with ideal sieving properties from palm shell has been attempted. The process includes three main stages: carbonization, carbon dioxide activation and polymer deposition using polyfurfuryl alcohols. Palm shell based activated carbon (AC) produced by carbon dioxide activation was used as raw material in synthesis of CMS. After preparing palm shell based AC, optimum concentration ratio of furfuryl alcohols and formaldehyde to AC for CMS synthesis was obtained in this study. Deposition of polyfurfuryl alcohols on the palm shell based AC was then carried out prior to carbonization. These polymer deposited AC was subjected to carbonization at $700-900^{\circ}C$ under inert condition. All the microporous materials were analyzed using micromeritics ASAP/2020. The results show that optimum concentration ratio of furfuryl alcohol and formaldehyde to AC is 1:2.5. The micropore with pore width less than 7 ${\AA}$ was formed on the polymer deposited AC at $700^{\circ}C$, $800^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ for 1.5 hours. Carbonization temperature at $900^{\circ}C$ for 1.5 hours was found to be optimum for CMS synthesis. The CMS produced under this condition has pore width of 5.884 ${\AA}$.

  • Adsorption experiments of carbon dioxide were performed on ZSM5 and Molecular Sieve 13X (MS13X) impregnated with Monoethanol Amine (MEA). Adsorption efficiency of $CO_2$ was investigated in a U type packed column with GC/TCD. The adsorption capacities of adsorbents are estimated in the temperature range of $30-80^{\circ}C$. The modified adsorbents was characterized by BET surface area, $N_2$ adsorption/desorption isotherms, X-ray diffraction and FT-IR. Surface analysis results showed that the impregnation method did not affect the crystallinity of any adsorbents. BET surface area of the MS13X impregnated amine decreased to $19.945m^2/g$ from $718.335m^2/g$. These reults showed that amine molecules were filled with the pore volume in MS13X, as a results restricting access of nitrogen into the pores. The MEA modified MS13X showed improvement in $CO_2$ adsorption capacity over the ZSM5 impregnated with MEA. The MS13X-MEA showed the highest adsorption capacity due to physical adsorption and chemical adsorption by amino-group content. This results also showed that adsorption capacity of MS13X-MEA increases with the temperature range of $60-80^{\circ}C$ compared with pristine MS13X.

  • It has applied the design method of face to face dimension, an MC (Modular Coordination) design method, at design steps of an apartment house for standardization of architecture. But It has been still using center line size. A construction limit isn't specific on these center line size, and dead space occurs with excessive gaps as size matching isn't performed well between structural sieve and parts. And above all, measurement before construction isn't to expect standardization, and to increase custom-made furniture. We investigate manufacture of a preferential domestic system kitchen and construction state, and we derive from a problem in viewpoints of standardization for this. And we utilized a reference plane, and we present construction document and design plan in order to solve these problems. And we analyze an effect got by application of the assembly basis aspect that we presented, and we can raise efficiency of standardization of housing and construction industry, and we light ultimately up.

  • The fragilities of the tobacco has been considered to be one of the most Important factor in determing not only the quality of the tobacco but also the economic effect to cigarettes manufacturing. The three blender methods to determine relative fragilities were compared with the Korea Tabacco & Ginseng Research Institute Standared Fragilities Test in order to established a suitable method for measuring the fragilities of Korea tobacco leaves. Fragilities measurement by the blender methods expressed either sieve aperture or fineness index and a statistical comparison of the three blender methods was made to short the mirror variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, slope, correlation, sensitivity index, etc.

  • The atmospheric concentration of dimethylsulfide (DMS), known as the predominant volatile organic. sulfur compound, is determined at subnanogram level by a combined application of non-cryogenic preconcentration method and gas chromatography with flame photometric detection (GC/FPD). The volatile DMS in air is preconcentrated using a trapping tube containing adsorbent like Molecular Sieve 5A (or gold-coated sands). The tube is then connected to the GC/FPD system via a six-way rotary valve, thermally desorbed at 40$0^{\circ}C$, separated on OV101 column, and detected by a flame photometric detector. The DMS peak elutes at about 2.5 mins and is integrated electronically. The analytical precision, if expressed in terms of relative standard error, is around 5%. The detection limit of our GC/FPD system is ca 1 ng of DMS. Details of our analytical system are presented.
