"Byun Jeung Rok(辨證錄)" is composed of 14 volumes. In relation to the contents, it is organized into 126 gates(門) and 700 remaining syndromes(餘證) where internal medicine, external medicine, pediatrics, gynecology(內科 外科 小兒 婦人), etc. are divided into sub-sections of cold damage, cold stroke, wind stroke(傷寒 中寒 中風), etc. For every syndrome, the symptom, cause of disease, method of treatment, prescription, construction of prescription, instruction of medicine and prognosis.(症狀 病因 治法 處方 處方構成 服用法 預後) were explained thoroughly. This study, as an inquiry of the second volume, deals with wind stroke(中風), impediment disease(痹證), heart pain(心痛), side pain(脇痛), headache(頭痛), abdominal pain(腹痛), lumbago(腰痛) It was written very logically so it is easy to understand. The analysis of the symptoms are brief and appropriate. Also, in the usage of the medicine, the sovereign, minister, assistant and courier(君臣佐使) method was used as the basis for the prescriptions. Therefore, it is considered to have significant clinical value for future generations and is thus being applied by them.

Back pains include pain in one or both side costa portion and lateral abdomen. There are different kinds of flank-related disease such as intercostal nerve pain, chronic gastritis, duodenitis, herpes zoster, pepticulcer, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis and so on. Back pain arises from pathological abnormal activities. On the other hand psychogenic pains are caused by psychogenic factors without pathological abnormal activities. This is similar to KiWol back pain, which resulted from psychogenic factors like stress, anxiety, anger and etc. In oriental medicine, KiWol is the state of depression of Ki, and Shihosogansan used to treat the back pain diagnosed as stagnation of the liver Ki. So, we decided to apply Shihosogansan to a patient who suffered from back pain diagnosed as stagnation of the liver Ki. Therefore the patient treated with Shihosogansan and improved in consciousness symptoms, so we report it for the better treatment.

Hypochondriac pain include pain in one or both side costa portion and lateral abdomen. There are different kinds of flank-related disease such as Hepatitis, cholecystitis, pleuritis, intercostal nerve pain and so on. Hypochondriac pain due to Phlegm Retention arises from pathological abnormal activities. In oriental medicine, Retention of Phlegm and Fluid is a morbid condition due to fluid retention in the stomach and intestines, and Gungha-tang used to treat the disease diagnosed as Retention of Phlegm and Fluid. So, we decided to apply Gungha-tang-gamibang to a patient who suffered from hypochondriac pain diagnosed as Retention of Phlegm and Fluid. Therefore the patient treated with Gungha-tang-gamibang and improved in consciousness symptoms, so we report it for the better treatment.

This study was performed on the basis of clinical consideration about patient who has hepatocholangiocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancer. Cancer has gradually increased morbidity and mortality all over the world including Korea. Western medicine has treated with surgical therapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy, but has not obtained outstanding results and has a difficulty due to side effects by those therapies. In this study, we recognized that symptom including hypochondriac pain by cancer are rapidly decreased with herbal medication treatment and acupuncture therapy. Oriental medicine treatment is applied throughly on the basis of the oriental medicine principle and the prescriptions were used Naeso-oksultang(內消沃雪湯). According to the above results, we can know this patient has improvement of patient's symptom on administration of oriental medicine treatment, it is helpful in decresing symptoms of patient and in improving quality of life.
