Real-time Fall Detection with a Smartphone (스마트폰을 이용한 실시간 낙상 감지)

  • In this study, a real-time fall detection system based on a smartphone equipped with three-axis accelerometer and magnetometer was proposed and evaluated. The proposed system provides a service that detects falls in real time, triggers alarm sound, and sends emergency SMS(Short Message Service) if the alarm is not deactivated within a predefined time. When both of the acceleration magnitude and angle displacement of the smartphone attached to waist belt are greater than predefined thresholds, it is detected as a fall. The proposed system was evaluated against activities of daily living(walking, jogging, sitting down, standing up, ascending stairs, and descending stairs) and unintended falls induced by a proprietary pneumatic-powered mattress. With the thresholds of acceleration magnitude 1.7g and angle displacement $80^{\circ}$, it showed 96.5% accuracy to detect the falls while all the activities of daily living were not detected as fall.

  • 네트워크 사용자들의 다양한 요구를 수용하고 신뢰성이 있는 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 많은 통신 사업자들은 SLA(Service Level Agreement)를 제공하고자 하고 있다. 통신 사업자들은 다양한 네트워크 서비스를 제공하고 있으며 각 네트워크 서비스에 대한 SLA 를 제공하기 위한 SLA 시스템은 유연한 구조를 가져야 한다. SLA 서비스는 계속적인 상황 감시를 통해 서비스 이용자와 계약 상황이 지켜질 수 있도록 해야 한다. 이를 위해서는 SLA 시스템 운용자의 부재시에 운용자에게 긴급 상황을 알려 주는 SMS(Short Message Service) 제공이 필요하다. SLA 시스템 운용자는 여러 등급이 존재하며 관리해야 하는 사항과 서비스도 다양하다. 이런 경우를 고려하여 효과적인 SMS 기능을 SLA 시스템 운용자에게 제공하는 SMS 기능을 본 논문에서 설계하고 구현하였다.

  • 지난 7.7 DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service), 3.3 DDoS 대란을 통해서 보여주듯 DDoS 공격이 네트워크 주요 위협요소로 매우 부각되고 있으나, 공격에 대해서 실시간으로 감지하고 대응하기에 어렵다. 그리고 현재 여러 분야에서 매우 많은 용도로 사용되는 SMS(Short Message Service)도 DDoS 공격 수단으로 사용되어 이동전화 시스템에 큰 혼란을 야기할 수 있다. 기존의 Bloom Filter 탐지 기법은 구조가 간단하고 실시간 탐지가 가능한 장점을 갖지만 오탐지율에 대한 문제점을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 목적지 기반의 다중의 해시함수를 사용한 Counting Bloom Filter 기법을 이용하여 임계치 이상 카운트된 동일한 목적지로 발송되는 SMS에 대하여 공격으로 탐지하고 SMSC에 통보하여 차단시키는 시스템을 제안한다.

  • The KEPRI has been developing the medium/small scale Distribution Automation System(DAS) that adopts wireless transmission media for exchanging information between master and remote terminals. It was concluded that Short Message Service(SMS) of Personal Communication Service(PCS) was the best wireless transmission media for the medium/small scale DAS in the last year. However. we had problem that PCS had long transmission delay. Therefore. SMS phones will be substituted with Radio Link Protocol(RLP) modems having transmission delay less than 5 seconds. This paper describes wireless networks for DAS, practical experience.

  • In this paper, a remote submersion warning system based on multi-mode optical fiber(MMF) sensors and a wireless sensor network(WSN) are proposed. To improve the reliability and stability of the sensors, the dual optical fiber sensors combined to the optical coupler are demonstrated. A slave zigbee as a wireless sensor module was used as a platform to monitor and record the signal from the MMF sensors and then transmits these information to a master zigbee wirelessly. The monitoring system running the $LabVIEW^{(R)}$ software was connected to the internet to support the short message service(SMS) through extensible markup language(XML) web service. No matter where the managers are, they can always receive the real-time remote-monitoring data for safety check.

  • The CRM(Customer Relationship Management) is the business strategy model for higher profits and competitive power of the enterprise in a new business environment. The large-scale customer response service technique uses internet, e-mail, SMS (Short Message Service), Telephony service, DM(Direct Mail) by customer channel point. Recently, business model diversify for new contract and retaining existing customer to the effort for a profitable model of business. This paper is based on Avaya PDS(Predictive Dialing System) model for CRM bond center. If the number of "available" agents are less than the number of inbound channels, then there may be real-time response problems in PDS system implemented. The Organization cannot afford to have many agents in available mode because of the high cost of manpower. This paper provides two contributions to the study. First, we present Call Object Management Mechanism of Customer Channel integration for reduce outbound consulting and reduce CallBack data in the PDS. Second, we design and implement the proposed system. Our simulation results show analysis of old model and proposed model. The proposed model can be efficiently used in Large-scale CRM.

  • This research presents development of real-time service primitive in MHS(Message Hanling system) supporting desk-top conferencing system. Desk-top conferencing system is one of the real-time GC(Group Communication) services. The complexity of modem society has led to the consequent need for real-time GC between a number of people in order to jointly handle tasks in business, government and other forms of organization. Despite the many different form of desk-top conferencing systems developed to date, there are still few systems in widespred no. One of the biggest hurdle preventing the widespred adoption of real-time GC is the lack of agreement on user-friendly interchange environments. In distributed office environments, the MHS is one of the most widely used service for information interchange. It is a standard of electronic mail system which is concerned mostly with asynchronous exchange of short notes. It is clear that additional functions on MHS are necessary in order to allow users to properly process their real-time group messages and provide them with important facilities as a communication infrastructure for real-time GC.

  • We show a new scheme and implementation of maritime data communication systems for GMDSS ship which performs e-Navigation and removes the functional limitation of those systems through comparing to service fee, call processing reliability, and bit rates of all of those systems within communication range at sea. We confirmed available each frequency band communication and application services at sea by experimental result with proposed new system, MF/HF band being useful to a short text message service, VHF band to 9600bps email service, Fleet Broadband Maritime Satellite system to one or more Mbps multimedia service each.

  • This dissertation proposes method for development technology of voice and SMS(Short Message Service) alarming system based on modbus protocol. The proposed technology is composed of the following 3 stages; hardware development based on microprocessor, development of input and output driver for modem, mp3 decoder, making modbus protocol stack. In the stage of hardware development based on microprocessor, we develop hardware which receives alarm from modbus master and transmit sms message, play mp3. In the stage of development of input / ouput device driver such as modem, mp3 decoder, we develop program which control each devices. In the stage of making modbus protocol stack, voice and sms alarm system is made for receiving alarm via modbus protocol. To evaluate performance of proposed technology, we issued alarm to voice and sms alarming system on purpose. As a result, response speed of detecting alarm was 10.7ms, communication distance was 1.2Km, operating temperature was from $-25^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$, we confirmed supporting modbus protocol. And we verified that proposed voice and sms alarming system in the thesis has a performance to be used as an industrial building alarming system.

Effects of Self-care Program Using SMS, E-mail, or Telephone Call on Self-care Compliance and Nutritional Status in Hemodialysis Patients (혈액투석환자에서 문자메시지(SMS), 이메일 및 전화를 이용한 자가간호 프로그램이 자가간호 이행과 영양 상태에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of self-care program using Short message service (SMS), e-mail, or telephone call on self-care compliance and nutritional status in maintenance of hemodialysis patient. Methods: Nonequivalent pretest-posttest control experimental design was used. Ninety-six patients were allocated to control (n=24), SMS (n=24), e-mail (n=24), or telephone (n=24) group from four hospitals. Experimental groups received self-care program about hemodialysis diet, drug administration, exercise, and fistula care by SMS, e-mail, or telephone call respectively at 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Results: Subjective self-care compliance, and objective self-care compliance including interdialytic weight of SMS and telephone groups were significantly increased than those of control groups. However, nutritional status of SMS and e-mail groups were significantly improved than those of control groups in albumin and protein level. Conclusion: Self-care program using SMS and telephone call were effective on promoting self-care compliance, while SMS and e-mail were effective on improving nutritional status. The pop-up remaining effect and easy accessible effect of SMS message in busy daily life was considered as an alarm to control fluid and diet.
