  • Using Bernd H. Schmitt's experiential modules, this study investigated the effect of shopping value on recognizing the importance of customer experience. A survey was conducted with 400 adults aged in their 20s to 50s. To analyze the data, factor analysis, a reliability test, cluster analysis, and ANOVA were conducted. The results were as follows. First, the shopping values exhibited by sportswear consumers were a utilitarian shopping value and a hedonic shopping value. Through these, consumers were classified into four groups: a shopping value-oriented group, a utilitarian shopping value group, a shopping value-unconcern group, and a hedonic shopping value group. Second, the customer experience consisted of five factors: sensory experience, emotional experience, cognitive experience, behavioral experience, and relational experience. Third, a significant difference was observed in customers' perceived experiences according to shopping value type. In the shopping value-oriented group, all customer experiences were generally considered important, followed by the hedonic shopping value group and the shopping value-unconcern group, with the utilitarian shopping value group least likely to perceive customer experiences as important. In addition, cognitive and emotional experiences were rated highest among the five experiences, indicating that these were the most important store experiences among the various customer experience components.

  • Shopping malls in Korea have grown in size and number, and their one-stop convenience has expanded to include various retail stores, service outlets, and entertainment providers. This study closely examines the shoppers' experience in a shopping mall. Using the photo elicitation interview (PEI) method, this study aims to provide deeper understanding of the subjective perceptions and context of shopping mall users. Ten shopping mall users participated in this study. They visited a shopping mall and took photos from their points of view about the shopping experience, and later participated in a personal interview. Convenience, excitement, relaxation, and socialization are the major themes of a pleasant shopping mall experience. Crowdedness and ineffective store design are the major themes of an unpleasant shopping mall experience. Core contents of each pleasant and unpleasant theme are presented. Given the current retail environment where shopping malls are continuously expanding, understanding the behavior and perception of consumers related to shopping malls is important in designing and providing a compelling experience in shopping malls.

To test hypothesis, an experiment was executed a field study on foreign internet shopping(www.landsend.com). Prior to administering the experiment, a pilot test was conduct among 20 undergraduate students to pre-test for computer system trouble and delay problem. The experiment was conducted to 90 studetns. The participants were instructed to answer all the questons based on their experience when using that particular internet shopping mall. The LISREL 8.50 was used for statistical analysis. The results indicate that the virtual model characteristics such as vividness, customization, and interactivity are important factors in affecting consumer's shopping experience. Online shopping experience have a strong positive effect on shopping mall loyalty.

  • Purpose - The present study examines the interrelationship between various components constituting shopping experience in the context of the Indian shopping malls. Research design, data, and methodology - Extracting components of shopping experience from the literature review, the study used Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) to propose a conceptual model. The study adopted a mixed methods research involving theoretical constructs from past research, qualitative assessment of relationship between the constructs and imposing definite order and direction to qualitative relations based on mathematical computations. Results - Proposed model indicates that the five components of shopping experience (ambience, physical infrastructure, convenience, marketing focus and safety and security) do not converge directly into shopping experience. Rather, they operate following a hierarchy of influences in which marketing focus plays the role of the initiator. Conclusions - This model points at the order of preference of different components of shopping experience and can be a useful guide for retail industry, especially mall developers and supermarket/hypermarket, may use the findings in key decisions about development of physical infrastructure, which are based on marketing focus.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among fashion orientation, shopping motivations, shopping flow experience, and purchases of fashion products. Two types of shopping motivations were employed in the study: goal-directed and experiential. A conceptual research model was developed using research variables and structural equational modeling was used to test hypotheses. Empirical results indicated that fashion orientation had a strong positive direct effect on both types of shopping motives. Experiential and goal-directed motivations both had significant influence on shopping flow experience by consumers. During this process the influence of experiential motivation on flow experience was stronger, which implies the importance of experiential motivation on shopping fashion products. In addition, shopping flow experience played an important role in fashion product purchasing. Results of this study suggest that retailers should take into consideration flow in the context of shopping.

The respondents of the study were 300 adult males and females who visited lifestyle shops. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 18.0 for exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis, and AMOS 18.0 for confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis. The results showed that there were four experience elements: entertainment, education, escapist, and esthetic. The experience elements are based on Pine & Gilmore's Experience Economy Theory. The result of path analysis showed that the entertainment experience and escapist experience had significant influences on store identity. Store identity positively influenced shopping satisfaction, but it had no significant influence on behavioral intention. Shopping satisfaction was found to have a significant effect on behavioral intention. The indirect effect analysis showed that the entertainment and escapist experiences have positive influences on shopping satisfaction and behavioral intention mediated by store identity. • The purpose of this study is to provide insights into live streaming consumer purchase intention by drawing on congruence between consumer and influencer factors and live shopping contents factors during the spread of COVID-19. We surveyed 348 individuals who have watched Fresh Hema's live streaming. SPSS and AMOS were used for data analysis. We determined that only actual congruity between influencer and consumer significantly influenced the consumer social experience. On the other hand, both the informativeness and entertainment value of live shopping contents positively impacted the consumer social experience. Additionally, social experience was significantly related to consumer co-experience and purchase intention. Moreover, the significant mediation effect of social experience was found amongst congruence between consumer and influencers, live shopping contents, co-experience, and purchase intention.

"Flow" means the experience with which consumers feel as pleased and satisfied as in playing pleasantly, and the optimal experience they feel when they are indulged in an activity. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among challenges, skills, flow experience, and future behavioral intention in online shopping malls. In addition, a 3D shopping mall and a 2D shopping mall were selected as the stimuli in order to examine the differences in flow experience in accordance with web site types. A survey questionnaire was developed and 700 data(2D group: n=380, 3D group: n=320) were used for analysis. Data were analyzed through structural equation model to explore effects of challenges and skills on flow. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the perception of higher challenges and skills led to positive flow experience and higher time distortion. Second, the higher the level of time distortion was, the higher the flow experience was. This means that a shopping mall will increase flow experience, if it is interesting enough to be unaware of time passing. Third, flow experience had a positive influence on future behavioral intention. Finally, in all variables except skills, the impact of 3D shopping mall is greater than that of 2D shopping mall, which means that web site types affect flow experience.
