  • It is the approach of embedded system design that finds 3D scanning technology to analyze a real object or environment to collect data on its shape and appearance. 3D laser scanning developed during the last half of 20th century in an attempt to accurately recreate the surfaces of various objects. 1960s, early scanners used lights, cameras, and projectors to carry out the scanning in the lacks of performance which encountered many difficulties with shiny, mirroring, or transparent objects. The 3D scanning technology has leveled-up with helpful of embedded software platform research and design. In this paper, First we designed the hardware of laser/camera setup and turntable moving part which is the base of object. Second, we introduced the process of scanning 3D data with software and analyzed the resulting scanned image on the web server. Last, we made the 3D scanning embedded device with 3D printing model and experimented the 3D scanning performance with Raspberry Pi.

  • We studied the effect of Dy content on the magnetic properties of cobalt ferrite single crystal. The $CoFe_{1.9}Dy_{0.1}O_4$ single crystals were grown by the flux method by using $Na_2B_4O_{7.}10H_2O$ (Borax) as a solvent (flux). The black and shiny single crystals were obtained as a product. The X-ray diffraction test at room temperature confirmed the spinel cubic symmetry with lattice constant a = $8.42{\AA}$ of the single crystals. The presences of constitute elements (Co, Fe and Dy) was endorsedby EDAX analysis. The saturation magnetization (Ms) of $CoFe_{1.9}Dy_{0.1}O_4$ single crystals was measured and is found to be 72emu/g or equivalently $3.2{\mu}B$/f.u. at 300 K. The observed Ms and coercivity (Hc) is found to be lower than that of pure $CoFe_2O_4$.

  • CMR Materials RE/sub 1-x/Ca/sub x/MnO₃(RE=La, Nd, A=Ca, Sr) were grown using the floating zone image furnace with halogen lamps as heat source. The growth condition was at 2∼10 mm/hr growth rate in air atmosphere, were 445∼50 rpm and 20∼25 rpm of rotation rate of feedrod and growing crystal, respectively. The grown crystals showed shiny black color and annealed at 1500℃ in a box furnace to release the residual stress during cooling. Characterization analyses of the crystal were carried out using XRD and SEM. The crystal structure of Nd/sub 0.7/Ca/sub 0.3/MnO₃ was analyzed with smart CCD XRD was lattice parameter of a=5.425(4)Å, b=5.434(4)Å, and c=7.712(5)Å, an orthorombic system with space group of pbnm.

  • This study evaluated the use of endoscopy to examine jaw cysts during the operation. Fifteen jaw cysts were explored with a endoscope immediately before and after enucleation. Endoscopic findings were evaluated and recorded with video tape. Before enucleation, there were many white fibrous floating materials within the cystic cavity. Cystic lining showed smooth and regular appearance with capillary network. However, there were some fibrous scar tissues and irregular architecture in preoperative infection. After enucleation, there were white shiny bony surfaces with fresh vascular network. In some cases, floating fibrous tissues remained after removal.

  • $SrPd_2Ge_2$ single crystals were grown by self-flux method. Several shiny plate-like single crystals were obtained. The crystal structure and lattice parameters were characterized using the x-ray diffractometor, which indicates the crystals are in a single phase of $ThCr_2Si_2$-type. We confirmed superconducting transition temperature at 2.7 K by measuring magnetization and electrical resistivity.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the transition of luster material after the tweentieth century. This study was conducted by means of designer collection, journal of fashion, museum data, fabric exhibition and Internet data. The results of this study were as follows: Before the synthetic fiber period, the luster materials were used satin, chamuse, gauze, damask brocade and velvet, except cashmere, mohair and rayon. They are made from silk by the way of giving difference surface property. But since 1960s, it has used not only synthetic fiber with smooth surface but also vinyl, latex, natural leather, synthetic leather and metal. Luster material recently has a tendency to natural and soft shiny, example silket finish, chintz finish, silico coating finish with paper touch feel and so forth.

  • As a result of an ongoing systematic study of the genus Phasia Latreille in Korea, we have discovered P. aurigera and P. takanoi for the first time in Korea. We here provide detailed redescriptions and illustrations with their diagnostic characters indicated. Phasia aurigera can be distinguished from other congeners by the combination of the following characteristics: 1) scutum with distinct yellow pruinose spot; 2) male abdominal tergite 5 posteromarginally with V-shaped yellow pruinosity; 3) distiphallus divided into anterior and posterior processes; 4) female sternite 7 short, as long as or slightly longer than sternite 6 (visible part); and 5) female sternite 8 (ovipositor) bent dorsally. Phasia takanoi can also be distinguished by the combination of the following characteristics: 1) abdominal tergites strongly shiny; 2) surstylus strongly bent upward; and 3) posterior margin of female sternite 7 straight in ventral view.

  • Specular reflection appears with metals, plastics, glasses and many other solid objects which are required to be inspected, assembled, moved, or processed automatically. Recongnizing such shiny objects with specular reflections is a hard problem for computer vision, since specular reflections appear, disappear, or change their shapes abruptly, due to tiny movements of the view. Traditionally, such specular reflections are discarded as annoying noise for recongnition purposes. In this paper a technique is represented for obtaining shapes of specular objects. The ring illumin- ation system employes a ring source which is positioned on the axis of the camera. The concept of the proposed method is that if specular objects are illuminated by the ring they show their own dis- tinctive specularity features in surface from which we can infer the shape of the object. A series of experiments are performed to evaluate the performance of this system.

  • Two colonial ascidians, Eudistoma glaucum and Eudistoma purpureum, are reported for the first time in Korean waters through taxonomic study on ascidians collected from a subtidal zone of Jejudo Island. Eudistoma glaucum is distinguished by opaque green color of colony in living, massive colony with large corona, smooth surface of corona, sparse sand only at the peduncle, zooids in circle, about 8-10 stigmata of 3 stigmata rows and test process. Eudistoma purpureum is distinguished by brilliant, opaque, purple color of colony in living, less lobed colony form, smooth shiny surface, sparse sand only at the basal test, absence of symbionts, zooids in circle, no distinct bulging sphincter in siphon, long atrial siphon and about 20 stigmata of 3 stigmata rows. As a result of this study, four species of the genus Eudistoma are now recorded in Korean fauna.

  • In this paper, Power fuzzy graphs is newly introduced by allotting fuzzy values on power graphs in such a way that the newly added edges, has the edge membership values between a closed interval which depends on vertex membership values and the length of the added edges. Power fuzzy subgraphs and total power fuzzy graphs are newly defined with properties and some special cases. It is observed that every power fuzzy graph is a fuzzy graph but the converse need not be true. Edges that are incident to vertices with the least vertex membership values are retained in the least power fuzzy subgraph. Further, the application of these concepts in real life time has been presented and discussed using power fuzzy graph model.
