This research has improved composite joint system of R/C column and steel beam developed at previous study. In this system, the shear force occurred at beam is transmitted by bearing resistance of stiffness and moment is resisted by tension capacity of coupling members. As the preliminary step of stress transfer tests of this system, welding performance test of coupling member such as round bar or square bar which has a role of moment transfer has been carried out. From the test, this element has a good welding performance and enough resistance capacity compared to design force.
The grain structure, dislocation density and second phase particles in various regions including the stir zone(SZ), thermo-mechanically affected zone(TMAZ), and heat affected zone(HAZ) of a friction stir weld 6.35mm thick aluminum 7075-T651 alloy were investigated and compared with the base metal. The microstruectures of nugget zone were compared according to tool rotation speeds and tool transition speeds. The hardness profiles of nugget zone were increased, while decreasing rotation speed and increasing welding speed. The optimal microstructure was gained at the low rotation speed 800rpm and th high welding speed 124mm/min. The nugget microstructures of fracture surface, transgranular dimple and quasicleavage type were showed different fracture type with the HAZ, shear fracture type.
Stress distribution and deformation on the CT-type(Cross Tension type) spot welded lap joint subjected to out of plane tensile load were investigated by finite element method. Using the maximum principal stresses at the nugget edge obtained by FEM analysis, evaluated the fatigue strength of the CT-type spot welded lap joints having various dimensions and materials. and also, the influence of the geometrical parameters of CT-type spot welded lap joints on stress distribution and fatigue strength must be evaluated. thus, in this paper, ${\Delta}P-N_f$ curve were obtained by fatigue tests. Using these results, ${\Delta}P-N_f$ curve were systematically rearranged in the $\Delta\sigma-N_f$ relation with the hot spot stresses at the CT-type spot welded lab joints. It was found that the proposed $\Delta\sigma-N_f$ relation could provide a more reasonable fatigue design criterion for the CT-type spot welded lap joints.
Resistance spot weldability of coated steels for automobile applications was investigated. Test samples were prepared from commercial products of 0.8 mm in thickness. Based on the tensile-shear test, surface quality examination and cracking behavior, it was clear that aluminized steels showed good weldability. Microstructural inspection revealed that the coated materials was piled up at the split zone in the welding of aluminized steels. It was also demonstrated that no weld crack was found in the aluminized steel weld metal even the welding was carried out with higher current. However, through thickness cracks were detected at the weld metal of zinc coated steel. Small particles were found on the crack surface of zinc coated steel weld metal. It was thought that zinc vapor played key role to form the weld crack.
Headed studs welded to steel beams and embedded within the concrete of deck slabs are vital components of modern composite floor systems, where safety and economy depend on the accurate predictions of the stud shear resistance. The multitude of existing deck profiles and the complex behavior of studs in deck slab ribs makes developing accurate and reliable mechanical or empirical design models challenging. The paper addresses this issue by presenting a machine learning (ML) model developed from the natural gradient boosting (NGBoost) algorithm capable of producing probabilistic predictions and a database of 464 push-out tests, which is considerably larger than the databases used for developing existing design models. The proposed model outperforms models based on other ML algorithms and existing descriptive equations, including those in EC4 and AISC 360, while offering probabilistic predictions unavailable from other models and producing higher shear resistances for many cases. The present study also showed that the stud shear resistance is insensitive to the concrete elastic modulus, stud welding type, location of slab reinforcement, and other parameters considered important by existing models. The NGBoost model was interpreted by evaluating the feature importance and dependence determined with the SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) method. The model was calibrated via reliability analyses in accordance with the Eurocodes to ensure that its predictions meet the required reliability level and facilitate its use in design. An interactive open-source web application was created and deployed to the cloud to allow for convenient and rapid stud shear resistance predictions with the developed model.
Titanium and its alloys have been widely using in the various field of industry application due to high corrosion resistant properties and mechanical properties. Titanium is highly reactive in the high temperature state and the formation of titanium oxide and porosities in the nuggets of fusion welding will results in the degradation of the mechanical properties. For this reason the studies of friction stir welding for titanium have been investigated recently. The FSW zones of titanium were classified by the weld nugget (WN), the linear transition boundary (TB) and the heat affected zone (HAZ). The WN along with titanium parent was characterized by the presence of twins and dislocations. The average grain size and hardness of WN has been changed according to heat input. The grain refinement resulted from the FSW increased the hardness in the stir zone. Sound dissimilar joints between SUS 304 and CP-Ti were achieved using an advancing speed of 50 mm/min and rotation speeds in the range of 700-1100 rpm. Aluminum 1060 and titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V plates were lap joined by friction stir welding, hence the ultimate tensile shear strength of joint reached 100% of Al 1060. Mg alloy and Ti were successfully butt joined by inserting a probe into the Mg alloy plate with slightly offsetting. But Ti-Al intermetallic compound layers formed at the interface of these joints.
As increasing demand on marine structures and skyscrapers, a deep shaft pile foundation is more to be used for the place having weak ground strength. Because heavy horizontal force is generally applied on upper part of pile foundation used in civil or architectural construction, steel pile is largely used with its high resistance to shear force and bending moment, and its capability to carry heavy loads. The steel pile has advantage in good constructibility, high applicability on site and easy handing, but has disadvantage in cost, more expensive than other material pile. This study is about the Composite pile that makes economical construction possible by reducing material cost of pile; using steel and PHC pile simultaneously while preserving the advantage of steel pile that large resistance to horizontal force and bending moment. A Non Welding connection method is applied to this composite pile and this method could reduce the cost and period of construction and could increase the quality of construction by solving the problem of current welding method and by improving the workability of pile connection. In this study, characteristics of driveability of non welding composite pile is analyzed prior to main project while the purpose of main project is proving the applicability of Non Welding Composite Pile by conducting various kind of loading test to analyze the characteristics behaviour of Non Welding Composit Pile and by verifying stability of non welding connection pile.
