Effect of Shape Magnetic Anisotropy of Amorphous Fe-B-P Nanoparticles on Permeability

  • Many electronic applications require magnetic materials with high permeability and frequency properties. We improve the magnetic permeability of soft magnetic powder by controlling the shape magnetic anisotropy of the powders and through the preparation of amorphous nanoparticles. For this purpose, the effect of the shape magnetic anisotropy of amorphous Fe-B-P nanoparticles is observed through a magnetic field and the frequency characteristics and permeability of these amorphous nanoparticles are observed. These characteristics are investigated by analyzing the composition of particles, crystal structure, microstructure, magnetic properties, and permeability of particles. The composition, crystal structure, and microstructure of the particles are analyzed using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry-, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and focused ion beam analysis. The saturation magnetization and permeability are measured using a vibrating sample magnetometer and an LCR meter, respectively. It is confirmed that the shape magnetic anisotropy of the particles influences the permeability. Finally, the permeability and frequency characteristics of the amorphous Fe-B-P nanoparticles are improved.

Anisotropy Coupling in Patterned Thin Films with Mixed Uniaxial Anisotropies

  • Anisotropy coupling in thin films with mixed induced and shape anisotropies is investigated. A 200-nm-thick Co-Fe-Pd-B thin film with a large induced anisotropy of 57 Oe is fabricated and then patterned into micron-sized cells to provide shape anisotropy, whose strength has a similar magnitude to that of the induced anisotropy for enhancing the anisotropy coupling. The angles between the two mixed anisotropies considered are $0^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, and $110^{\circ}$. Hysteresis loops measured under in-plane magnetic fields along various directions indicate no anisotropy coupling behaviour for all the three angles examined in this study.

Induced Magnetic Anisotropy of Sputtered FeN Films Due to Substrate Tilting

  • FeN thin films were deposited by RF-reactive diode sputtering to investigate magnetic characteristics variation due to substrate tilt during the film deposition, and their magnetic properties were measured by VSM, SEM and AFM. When the substrate tilt pivot edges were parallel to the applied field, the magnetic anisotropy was increased When the substrate tilt pivot edges were perpendicular to the applied field, the easy magnetization axis became the hard magnetization axis, and the hard axis became the easy axis as the tilt angles were increased. The reason is believed to be due to the fact that the tilt induced shape magnetic anisotropy became larger than the field induced magnetic anisotropy by DC magnetic field as the crystal grains are enlongated along the substrate tilt pivot edges due to "oblique incidence anisotropy" commonly found in eveporated thin films.

Shape anisotropy and magnetic properties of Co/Ni anti-dot arrays

  • Recently, patterned magnetic films and elements attract a wide interest due to their technological potentials in ultrahigh-density magnetic recording and spintronic devices. Among those patterned magnetic structures, magnetic anti-dot patterning induces a strong shape anisotropy in the film, which can control the magnetic properties such as coercivity, permeability, magnetization reversal process, and magneto-resistance. While majority of the previous works have been concentrated on anti-dot arrays with a single magnetic layer, there has been little work on multilayered anti-dot arrays. In this work, we report on study of the magnetic properties of bilayered anti-dot system consisting of upper perforated Co layer of 40 nm and lower continuous Ni layer of 5 nm thick, fabricated by photolithography and wet-etching processes. The magnetic hysteresis (M-H) loops were measured with a superconducting-quantum-interference-device (SQUID) magnetometer (Quantum Design: MPMS). For comparison, investigations on continuous Co thin film and single-layer Co anti-dot arrays were also performed. The magnetic-domain configuration has been measured by using a magnetic force microscope (PSIA: XE-100) equipped with magnetic tips (Nanosensors). An external electromagnet was employed while obtaining the MFM images. The MFM images revealed well-defined periodic domain networks which arise owing to the anisotropies such as magnetic uniaxial anisotropy, configurational anisotropy, etc. The inclusion of holes in a uniform magnetic film and the insertion of a uniform thin Ni layer, drastically affected the coercivity as compared with single Co anti-dot array, without severely affecting the saturation magnetization ($M_s$). The observed changes in the magnetic properties are closely related to the patterning that hinders the domain-wall motion as well as to the magneto-anisotropic bilayer structure.

철 및 코발트-철합금석출 양극산화피막의 초기석출부가 자기특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Bottom Extremity on the Magnetic Properties of Iron and Cobalt-Iron Electrodeposited Anodic Oxided Films.)

  • 양극산화피막에 철이온 및 코발트-철혼합이온 등을 전해석출하여 얻어지는 자성막의 입자는, 입자의 크기 Dp에 따라 모양이 크게 달라진다. Dp가 $300\AA$ 이상일때 나무가지모양의 초기석출부가 반드시 생성된다. 이것은 초기석출부의 형상만을 고려할때 자성막의 국부적충진율을 증가시킴으로, 철석출막의 경우와 같이 항자력 Hc 및 수직자 기이방성 Ku의 감소효과를 가져온다. 코발트-철합금 석출막의 경우, 일부조성에서 초기석출부의 형상효과보다는 여기에 석출한 FeC의 결정배향이 더 크게 작용하여, Hc의 감소와 -Ku를 나타내었다. 이러한 초기석출부의 영향이 규명됨에 따라 코발트-철합금 자성막의 제작시 초기석출부의 FeC석출을 억제시키는 방법을 사용, 임의의 조성에서 수직자기이방성을 갖게하는 것이 가능하였다.

  • An overview will be given on recent Mossbauer and magnetization investigation of the applied field dependence of the magnetic properties of typical systems without strong magnetic anisotropy and showing the absence of magnetic saturation in high fields (including iron-rich spin glass (amorphous $Fe_{93}Zr_{7}$, soft ferromagnets (amorphous $Fe_{88}Zr_{12}$, $Fe_{70}Ni_{20}Zr_{10}$ and $Fe_{88}B_{12}$) and pure Fe). The results emphasize that shape anisotropy due to surface irregularities causes misalignment between the magnetization and the applied field in the otherwise collinear magnetic structure.

NiFe/Cu/NiFe/IrMn 스핀밸브 박막소자의 자화 용이축에 따른 형상 자기이방성 (Shape Magnetic Anisotropy on Magnetic Easy Axis of NiFe/Cu/NiFe/IrMn Spin Valve Thin Film)

  • NiFe/Cu/NiFe/IrMn 스핀밸브 박막소자에 대해 자화 용이축에 의존하는 형상 자기이방성을 조사하였다. Ta(5 nm)/NiFe(8 nm)/Cu(2.3 nm)/NiFe(4 nm)/IrMn(8 nm)/Ta(2.5 nm) 다층박막을 증착할 때 350 Oe의 자기장으로 인가한 자화 용이축을 폭 방향 또는 길이 방향으로 설정하여 $1\;{\mu}m\;{\times}\;18\;{\mu}m$의 소자를 제작하였다. 2단자 방법으로 소자의 자기저항 곡선으로부터 자장감응도를 측정하고 자화 용이축에 따른 형상 자기이방성을 비교하였다. 측정한 소자 길이 방향의 센싱전류와 고정층의 자화 용이축이 소자 폭방향 각도가 GMR-SV 소자를 바이오센서로 활용하는데 중요한 요인임을 확인하였다.

Uniaxial Magnetic Anistotropy of a NiO-Spin Valve Device

  • The shape anisotropy effect of a giant magnetoresistance-spin valves (GMR-SV) device with a glass/NiO/NiFe/CoFe/Cu/CoFe/NiFe layered structure for use in the detection of magnetic property of molecules within a cell was investigated. The patterned device was given uniaxial anisotropy during the sputtering deposition and vacuum post-annealing, which was performed at $200^{\circ}C$ under a 300 Oe magnetic field. The pattern size of the device, which was prepared through the photolithography process, was $2{\times}15\;{\mu}m^2$. The experimental results confirmed that the best design for a GMR-SV device to be used as a biosensor is to have both the axis sensing current and the easy axis of the pinned NiO/NiFe/CoFe triple layer oriented in the direction of the device's width, while the easy axis of the free CoFe/NiFe bilayer should be pointed along the long axis of the device.

경상분지 쇄설성 퇴적암의 대자율 이방성 연구 (A Study on Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility of Clastic Sedimentary Rocks in the Gyeongsang Basin)

  • 쇄설성 퇴적암의 입자 크기는 암석을 구분하는 기준인 동시에 이방성의 원인이 된다. 이방성은 암석의 강도와 풍화에 영향을 미치는 주 원인 중 하나이다. 경상분지의 영주, 대구, 부산 지역에 분포하는 쇄설성 퇴적암과 화성암을 대상으로 대자율타원체를 결정하고 이방성정도와 모양지수를 통해 이방성을 분석하였다. 외력의 영향이 거의 없는 호성환경에서 퇴적된 사암의 이방성정도는 1.03 이하였다. 단층의 영향을 받은 암석은 1.06, 단층암은 1.14 이상의 이방성 정도를 보였다. 암석의 자기적 이방성은 단층으로부터 거리가 멀어질수록 이방성 정도가 감소하였다. 세립질의 입자로 구성된 이암과 셰일은 일차퇴적구조인 층리가 박층으로 발달하며 이로 인해 단층암과 유사한 크기의 이방성을 보였고 대자율타원체의 모양지수도 편원형을 보였다. 실험 결과로부터 쇄설성퇴적암 중 신선한 이암과 셰일은 단층암과 유사한 이방성을 가지므로 이들 암반과 관련된 구조물의 설계, 시공, 유지관리에서 주의가 필요하다.

  • 전기용량법에 의한 자기이방성 측정장치를 설계 제작하였다. 균이자기장 속에서 원판 또는 구형의 시료가 자기이방성에 의해 받는 토오크를 평행판 축전기의 미소용량 변화로 변환하여, 그것을 변압기 부리지 로 검출하였다. 3% Si-Fe 단결정의(100)면에 대한 입방 이방성 $K_{1}$$3.3{\times}10^{4}\;J/m^{3}$가 얻어졌으며, 교정에는 Ni선의 형상이방성을 이용하였다. 기타 수종의 시료에 대한 결과도 기존치와 좋은 일치를 보였다.
