  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of clothing cues(sleeve and skirt width, length) on female impressions. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of stimuli and response scales. The stimuli are 16 pictures manipulated with sleeve and skirt width · length variations by computer drawing. The experimental design consists of 3 factorial design: (1) sleeve shapes(plain, upper expanded, below expanded, all expanded) (2) skirt width (wide, narrow) (3) skirt length(long, short) The 7-point semantic differential response scale designed for visual evaluation of female' s impression formation on sleeve shape and skirt width · length is 27 bipolar adjectives. The results of this study are as follows: 1. When we analize the impressions of female figure by sleeve shape and width · length of skirt, it becomes clear that maturity, modernity, attention, elegance and tenderness are proved to be important. Among these five factors, maturity, modernity and attention are identified as more important ones. 2. Sleeve shape have an effect on all factors except maturity and the effects of sleeve on the four factors are not striking. ' Width of skirt are most influential to the maturity and attention, but it does not have any effect on modernity. However two factor, that is width of skirt and sleeve have an effects on modernity, attention and tenderness. ' The length of skirt has an effects on the tenderness, elegance and modernity, but it dose not have any effect on attention. But width and length of skirt have an effects on attention, tenderness and modernity The length of skirt and sleeve have an effect on tenderness.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the profitable clothes design of middle-aged men by examining visual effects in physical design. The methode of study is experimentation. The sample of this study is people who live in Kwangiu, Korea and 20-50 age's 719. The difference of physical design effect by arrangement, pattern and the shape of body. There are partly resemblance difference in physical design visual effect by the shape of body and clothes design(arrangement and pattern)In weak type, single suit with striped pattern and double suit with check pattern make the upper body look short. Otherwise, double suit with striped pattern have man look tall. In standard type, single arrangement suit with striped pattern make the lower half of body long, so make man look tall. And double arrangement suit with striped pattern have man look tall. The suit without pattern have one's shoulder look wide. In pyknic type, striped pattern make the lower half of one's body look long. But single arrangement with striped pattern have the upper body look big. sing1e suit with striped pattern make lower half of body look long and check pattern make it look short. Totally, arrangement, and pattern are very important clothes due to give an effect on whole visual effect man's suit. Also, these dues were felt differently by each types of body. So, it is confirmed that the type of body is important fluent to make people perceive.

  • Clothing shape is principally described in seven factors that are composed of clothing design, clothing material, clothing size, pattern design, sewing method and body motion etc.. The aims of this study was to measurement out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with somato type by using the image processing. The subjects for direct anthropometric measurements were 248 female college students aged from 19 to 22. The data were statistically analyzed by principal analysis and cluster analysis. The results were obtained three somato type. Also I made skirts in order to analyzed to the out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body. The effect of somato type on the shape of flare skirts was determined by the out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body. The out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body was observed between the node number and amplitudes of clothing wave form and node number was determined at the maxim of space-shape amplitude, and the space-shape amplitudes have related with aspect ratio of cross-sectional shape. Results for flare skirts show changes in amplitude and mean with fabrics, somato type. therefore gray-level histogram are correlated with changes out-line space-shape, differences in drape spacing and related fabric properties and their somato type. • On this study, we improved diaphgram for micro speaker performance using Taguchi method in discrete design space. The design of diaphgram has an effect on performance of micro speaker such as, thickness of diaphgram, shape of diaphgram, etc. Therefore this study carried to decide shape of diaphgram and thickness of diaphgram for minimizing 2nd natural frequency of diaphgram using Taguchi method. we showed improved design factors that minimized 2nd natural frequency of diaphgram. Also, 2nd natural frequency of diaphgram for micro speaker is reduced up to 37 percent maintaining twist mode shape. From the results of ANOVA, 2nd natural frequency of diaphgram for micro speaker have an effect on position of the outer curved shape and thickness of diaphgram.

  • To evaluate the effect of spring shape on the fretting wear of nuclear fuel rod, sliding wear tests were performed using three kinds of space grid springs in room temperature air and water. With increasing slip amplitude, wear volume of each spring gradually increased. It is apparently shown that spring with convex shape had a relatively high wear resistance compared with concave shape springs. It is suggested that the ratio of the wear volume to the worn area can be suggested as an efficient and valid parameter to evaluate the wear resistibility of a fuel grid spring.

  • The strengthening of a metal matrix composite(MMC) by the shape memory effect(SME) of dispersed TiNi particles was theoretically studied. An analytical model was constructed for the prediction of the average residual stress(<$\delta$>m) on the base of the Eshelby's equivalent inclusion method. The analysis was performed on the TiNi particle/Al metal matrix composites with varying volume fractions and prestrains of the particle. The residual stress caused by the shape memory of predeformed fillers has been predicted to contribute significantly to the strengthening of this composite.

  • A rolling speed dependent spread model is proposed for predicting the exit cross sectional shape in oval-round (or round-oval) pass rod rolling process when the rolling speed is very high. The effect of rolling speed on the exit cross sectional shape is measured by performing a four-pass continuous high speed (${\sim}80m/s$) rod rolling test and is described in terms of the spread correction parameter. The validity of the model is examined by applying it to rod rolling process at POSCO No.3 Rod Mill. The cross sectional shapes of workpiece predicted by the proposed model coupled with the surface profile prediction $method^{6}$ are in good agreement with those obtained experimentally.

  • The nickel-titanium shape memory alloy (SMA), referred to as Nitinol, exhibits a superelastic effect that can be restored to its original shape even if a significant amount of deformation is applied at room temperature, without any additional heat treatment after removal of the load. Owing to these unique material characteristics, it has widely used as displacement control devices for seismic retrofitting in civil engineering fields as well as medical, electrical, electronic and mechanical fields. Contrary to ordinarty carbon steel, superelastic SMAs are very resistant to fatigue, and have force-displacement properties depending on loading speed. The change for the mechanical properties of superelastic SMAs are experimentally inviestigated in this study when loading cycle numbers and loading speeds are different. In addition, the standardized force-displacement properties of such superelastic SMAs are proposed with an aim to efficiently design the seismic retrofitting devices made of these materials.

  • A numerical analysis is carried out to study the effect of piston shape on the lubrication characteristics between the cylinder and piston in hydraulic piston pumps. The results showed that the shape of piston affect significantly the pressure distribution in the clearance, the lateral force acting on the piston and leakage flow through the clearance. Partially tapered piston is more effective than any other piston shapes because it reduces the possibility of hydraulic locking and improves the volumetric efficiency of the pump.
