  • Several repeater systems are used to enhance the cell coverage to location such as shadow and rural areas in mobile systems. But the general RF repeater solutions are not suitable for high power outdoor environment because it has the weakness such as self oscillation problem With adoption of a adaptive digital filter technology, feedback interference cancellation repeater prevents oscillation by detecting and canceling the unwanted feedback signal between transmission and receiver antenna. In this paper, dual NLMS based interference cancellation method is proposed and the step size adaptation can be implemented by the estimation of the feedback channel Doppler frequency characteristics. The performance of the proposed algorithm is quantified via analysis and simulation for the static and multipath fading feedback channels.

  • Due to the unavailability of global positioning system (GPS) indoors, various indoor pedestrian positioning methods have been designed to estimate the position of the user using received signal strength (RSS) measurements from radio beacons, such as wireless fidelity (WiFi) access points and Bluetooth low energy (BLE) beacons. In indoor environments, radio-frequency (RF) signals are unpredictable and change over space and time because of multipath associated with reflection and refraction, shadow fading caused by obstacles, and interference among different devices using the same frequencies. Therefore, the outliers in the positional information obtained from the indoor positioning method based on RSS measurements occur often. For this reason, the performance of the positioning method can be degraded by the characteristics of the RF signal. To resolve this issue, a map-matching (MM) algorithm based on maximum probability (MP) estimation is applied to the indoor positioning method in this study. The MM algorithm locates the aberrant position of the user estimated by the positioning method within the limits of the adjacent pedestrian passages. Empirical experiments show that the positioning method can achieve higher positioning accuracy by leveraging the MM algorithm.

  • In this paper, we design the radio interface protocols of wideband Wireless Local Loop(WLL) that uses wideband Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA), and propose the random access procedures on access channel and analyze the performance of the channel. The structure of radio interface protocols are designed by three modular parts to meet the requirements of IMT-2000 : radio resource controlling part that depends on the radio resources, connection controlling part that is independent of the radio resources, and application part that supports the interface between different parts and user terminals. In addition, we propose the random access procedures on access channel and analyze the performance of the channel. We assume that both near-far effect and shadow fading can be compensated by open loop power control. We observe that the number of access probes(delay) depend on the initial mobile transmission power and power increment, and the poor estimation of initial mobile transmission power might increase the average number of access probes.

  • In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), blanket (area) coverage analysis is generally carried to find the minimum number of active sensor nodes required to cover a monitoring interest area with the desired fractional coverage-threshold. Normally, the coverage analysis is performed using the stochastic geometry as a tool. The major component of such coverage analysis is the assumed sensing model. Hence, the accuracy of such analysis depends on the underlying assumption of the sensing model: how well the assumed sensing model characterizes the real sensing phenomenon. In this paper, we review the coverage analysis for different deterministic and probabilistic sensing models like Boolean and Shadow-fading model; and extend the analysis for Exponential and hybrid Boolean-Exponential model. From the analytical performance comparison, we demonstrate the redundancy (in terms of number of sensors) that could be resulted due to the coverage analysis based on the detection capability mal-characterizing sensing models.
