The influence of smartphone use on the sexual behaviors in middle school male students (중학교 남학생의 스마트폰 사용이 성행동에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: This study is to investigate the sexual behaviors among smartphone users of middle school male students. Methods: Data was collected on all students in one middle school of seoul city using a structured questionnaire that is consisted of the detailed fifty-one questions for the five variables, the general characteristics, the features of smartphone obscenity use, sexual knowledge, sexual attitudes and sexual behaviors from Sep. 24 to Oct. 25 in 2015. The responded 480 questionnaires were analyzed by using the SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Science) WIN 21.0 Program. Results: The results from this study showed that the variables which affected sexual behaviors were school record(high), watching frequency(2-8 times/month, more than 9 times/month), watching reason(solving sexual desire), sexual attitudes, of which sexual attitude was a most influential variable. Therefore, to establish healthy sexual behaviors, it is required to raise correct sexual attitudes. and means that school sex education should make a way of establishing correct sexual attitudes. Conclusions: Professional and systematical sexual education is needed to increase responsible sexual attitude on sexual behaviors.

A Study on the Clothing Involvement and Clothing Consumption Behavior of Female University Students according to Gender Role Attitude (여대생의 성역할 태도에 따른 의복관여와 의복소비행동에 대한 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how gender role attitudes affect clothing involvement and clothing consumption behaviors in young female generation by changing the traditional sex role stereotype. For the research, the survey was conducted for a month from June 15 to July 15, 2009. Data was collected a total of 368 questionnaires from 20's female university students and analyzed 301 questionnaires with SPSS 12.0. The results were as follows. First, the results of factor analysis on gender role attitudes confirmed the multifactorial theory of gender schema: modern masculinity, conservative gender roles, modern feminity based on emotion, gender role openness, and traditional feminity. Second, gender role attitude of female university students was a little conservative but flexible to accommodate masculinity and active in the emotion expression. Third, gender role attitudes had important effects on clothing involvement which was identified into 4 different factors; fashion involvement, clothing interest, performance risk, and social psychological risk. Fourth, gender role attitudes were related with clothing consumption behaviors as like shopping orientation, on-going information search behavior and brand loyalty because of needs for innovation, exhibition and differentiation. Therefore, it was concluded that not only 'androgynous' from modern feminity based on emotion but also 'masculinity' was applied to important fashion marketing strategic tools by statically affecting female consumer's clothing involvement and clothing behaviors.

A Study on Financial Attitudes, Spending Behaviors and the Financial Satisfaction of Adolescent Consumers (청소년의 재정적 태도와 소비행동 및 재정만족도)

  • This paper investigates the causal relationships between financial attitudes, spending behaviors and the financial satisfaction of adolescent consumers. The study used Cronbach' $\alpha$, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, multiple regression and path analysis for statistical analysis and applied it to 1,252 questionnaires. The results are summarized as follows: Path analysis revealed that the financial satisfaction of adolescents had a direct linear relationship with variables such as grade, sex, financial attitudes. (financial situation compared to past and financial situation compared to others) and types of spending behaviors (planned, conspicuous and excessive). Planned spending behavior was the most influential variable on financial satisfaction. Planned spending behavior had positive linear relationship with the attitude toward the past financial situation. Conspicuous spending behavior had positive linear relationships with the attitudes toward the past financial situation and the financial situation compared to others. However, it showed negative relationship with the attitude toward a future financial situation. Impulsive spending behavior had a positive relationship with the attitude toward others' financial situation. Excessive spending had a positive relationship with the attitude toward a past financial situation but showed a negative relationship to the attitude toward others' financial situation.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate by questionnaire method the guardian's mental attitudes and self-esteem toward their children with muscular dystrophy according to the sex, the age, the academic background, the family budget monthly income, the children's grade, the body ability, the muscular dystrophy recognition lapse, and religion. The guardian's mental attitudes toward their children with muscular dystrophy regarding the consultation hope, the basic recognition, the child custody, the personnel relationship and the childcare, the view of the future are very closely connected with each category and they are various from the whole categories.

The Personal Characteristics and Clothing Attitude on High School Students (남·녀 고등학생의 성격특성과 의복태도)

  • The young casual wear market has been recently increased by the great buying power of the target consumers, although they don't have their own discretionary income. The purpose of this study was to investigate clothing attitudes of the adolescent consumers of the young casual wear market according to the groups of personality types. The questions on introversion/extroversion of MBTI test were adopted to measure introversion/extroversion in personal characteristics. The questions in "The personality diagnosis of high school students" developed by Lee, Chongseung and Chung, Bummo were adopted to measure stability, dominance, sociability and autonomy. Variables of clothing attitudes were composed with attentiveness, modesty and conformity. A total 488 high school students in Seoul participated in the survey. SPSS Win 10 statistical package was used to analyze the data: frequency, t-test, ANOVA and factor analysis. After statistical analysis, the following results were found. Groups of introversion and extroversion, and groups of low, medium and high degree of stability, dominance, sociability and autonomy showed no significant difference based on sex difference and school types. Students who has a high extroversion showed a high degree of attentiveness in clothing attitudes. Students who has the lowest sociability and the lowest autonomy showed a high degree of attentiveness. Students with the lowest autonomy showed a high degree of conformity. The younger the students were, the higher their attentiveness and modesty in clothing attitudes.

The Effects of AIDS Education on Knowledge and Attitude in College Freshman (에이즈교육이 대학생의 에이즈에 관한 지식과 태도에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate the effects of AIDS education for college freshman. Method: This study was conducted using a pretest-posttest experimental design for one group. Subjects were selected from G college freshman(n=89) in I city. Data were collected from November 5 to December 3, 2004. An educational session took 50 minutes and was conducted once a week. Subjects were given a total of four-session AIDS education. Knowledge and attitude on AIDS was measured before and after the AIDS education using questionnaires. Results: There was a significant difference in the levels of knowledge and attitudes towards AIDS before and after the education. In particular, there was also a significant difference in the attitude subscales(personal and social attitudes). There was a significant positive correlation between the knowledge and attitude. In particular, there was also a significant positive correlation between the knowledge and attitude subscales(personal and social attitudes). Conclusion: The findings indicated that AIDS education is effective in order to encourage correct knowledge and attitudes towards AIDS for college freshman. Therefore, it is necessary to systematically and continuously AIDS education programs to keep healthy sex.

Dynamics of Welfare Attitudes Change in Korea: Longitudinal Study of Korean's Welfare Attitudes Change (한국사회 복지태도 변화의 역동성 : 개인 복지태도 변화에 대한 종단자료 분석)

  • Changes in the public welfare attitudes are very important to the welfare politics and policy. Considering that variability of public welfare attitudes has been ignored in previous studies, we analyzed welfare attitudes changes at individual level in Korea. Using the longitudinal data from the Additional Survey of 2010/2013/2016 Korea Welfare Panel Survey, we analyzed the changes in public welfare attitudes during 2010th-2016th years. Major findings are as follows. First, one of the findings from analysis is that the public welfare attitudes are very active and dynamic in Korea. This finding is contradiction to the results of the previous researches that are point to the stability or inertia of the public welfare attitudes in western welfare states and also in Korea. Second, occurrences of the welfare attitudes change are related with various individual characteristics; income status, occupation status, age, region, sex, political ideology, etc. These results from this study on the welfare attitudes change suggest that dynamics of the Korea welfare politics in recent years reflected the dynamic changes in public welfare attitudes. And, they suggest that Korea welfare politics are transformed from the traditional classes welfare politics to the new welfare politics which are influenced by various interests of the socio-demographic groups.

Consumers' knowledge and attitudes toward antibiotic resistance (항생제 내성에 대한 소비자의 지식 및 태도)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the association between socio-demographic factors and attitudes toward antibiotic resistance and consumer's knowledge on antibiotic use for common cold. Telephone survey was conducted between June 24 and July 2, 2009, among 1,015 adults who were randomly stratified by age, sex and area. A total of 921 respondents were included in the analysis. Logistic regression was used to analyze the influence of socio-demographic factors on knowledge and attitudes. A total of 452 respondents(49.1%) recognised that they knew about antibiotic resistance and 769 respondents(83.5%) worried that antibiotic resistance is a serious problem in Korea. A total of 577 respondents(62.7%) had adequate knowledge on antibiotic use and resistance. Multiple logistic regression showed that younger age and higher education level were associated with adequate knowledge. The odds ratio of appropriate knowledge among persons with college degrees was 5.25(95% CI, 2.78-9.90) compared to those with elementary or less education. Sex and income variable were not predictors of adequate knowledge on antibiotic use and resistance. This study showed that consumers with less education had inadequate knowledge on antibiotic use for common cold. Even though consumers in their 40s and 50s thought they knew about antibiotic resistance, there is a need to improve their knowledge. Education campaigns for appropriate antibiotic use have to be differentiated among consumers with different socio-demographic characteristics.

Sexual Maturation, Attitudes towards Sexual Maturity, and Body Esteem in Elementary-School Children (초등학생의 성 성숙, 성 성숙 태도 및 신체 자존감)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate sexual maturation, attitudes toward sexual maturity, and body esteem in the sexual development of Korean elementary-school boys and girls. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 399 fifth and sixth graders (192 boys and 207 girls). The data were analysed with a $x^2$ test, t-test, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: Among the 207 girls, 70.5% had pubic hair growth, 68.1% had breast development, and 56.0% had a menstrual period. In boys, 59.4% of the 192 subjects experienced the development of external genitalia and 52.6% had pubic hair growth. Sexual maturation was related to grade (boys, t=7.07, p=.008; girls, t=12.76, p<.001), age (t=-2.20, p=.030; t=-4.11, p<.001), height (t=-5.16, p<.001; t=-7.52, p<.001), and weight (t=-2.89, p=.004; t=-5.19, p<.001) in both boys and girls. Girls were more likely to have sexual maturity than boys ($x^2=22.29$, p<.001). Boys showed more positive attitudes toward sexual maturity (t=2.10, p=.036) and higher body esteem (t=2.12, p=.035) than girls. Conclusion: This study shows that sexual maturation, attitude toward sexual maturity, and body esteem in sexual development differ between boys and girls. The findings indicate that it is necessary to develop a tailored sex-education program according to the sex of elementary-school children.

Attitudes and Opinions toward Psychiatry of Students and Professionals for Social Welfare : A Preliminary Study (사회복지학 전공자의 정신과에 대한 인식과 태도 : 예비적 연구)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes and opinions toward psychiatry of students and professionals for social welfare. Methods : 67 students and 34 social workers joined to this study completed the attitudes and opinions scale and the quality of life scale successfully. Results : On the attitude scale, in factor 'overall merits of field of psychiatry' and factor 'possible abuses and social criticisms', and factor 'career and personal rewards', the social workers have more positive attitude than other group, in factor 'role definition and functioning of psychiatrists', the female sex have more positive attitude than the other sex. It showed significant correlation between activity factor in quality of life scale and possible abuses and social criticisms in attitude scale. Conclusion : The contact with patients with psychiatric disorders will have a good impact on the personal attitude toward patients. It is important that the students for social welfare would receive appropriate psychiatric education program.
