The purpose of this study was to investigate the several types of Korean parent's child rearing attitudes perceived by their children and the related variables. The study included the development of a "Children's Report of Korean Parent's Behavior Inventory"(CKPBI). Subjects were 1722 5th and 6th grade elementary school children from 5 urban cities in Korea. CKPBI and a Home Environment Questionnaire were used to gather data for the study. Stepwise multiple regression analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, and factor analysis were conducted for the purpose of the study. A CKPBI which consists of 46 items for father's and 48 items for mother's was found as both a valid and reliable instrument for measuring the child rearing attitudes of Korean parents. A factor analysis resulted in identifying two factors both for mothers and fathers; they were the "Warmth factor" and "Rejection-Authority factor". Eight types of child rearing attitudes were found for Korean parents. The SES of family significantly predicted Korean parent's child rearing attitudes. The SES of the family, and sex of the child determined variations in Korean parents' child rearing attitudes. Maternal religion had a significant correlation with both boys' and girls' perceptions of parental attitudes. The results of this study indicate high inconsistency within each parent and high consistency between both parents.
The purposes of this research were to investigate the general trends and differences of family members' satisfaction and attitudes related to mother's employment condition, to examine the correlations between every members' employment condition, to examine the correlations between every members' interactions, and to analyze the effects of related variables. To study these objectives, three kinds of questionnaire were used and the data were obtained through 780 parents and adolescents. The jmajor findings were as follows: 1) The general trends of family member's interactions showed that the score of relationship satisfaction between mother and adolescent was higher than father and adolescent. Nonemployed mothers and their children were more traditional in attitudes. 2) The correlations of family member's interactions were significant in satisfaction. Husband's occupational attitudes were related with wife's interactions were significant in satisfaction. Husband's occupational attitudes were related with wife's satisfaction, and parentadolescent attitudes were related each other in dual earner family. 3) Mother's marital satisfaction was affected by employment condition, communication satisfaction, husband's aid, support, satisfaction for employment condition, and father's was affected by communication satisfaction and wife's marital satisfaction. Adolescent's satisfaction with father was influenced by satisfaction with mother and mother's employment condition, and sex-role attitudes were influenced by employment condition and father's support.
The purposes of this phenomenological study were to investigate the sexual experiences of juvenile delinquents, and to understand how ecological systems affected their sexual activities. The participants were 13 adolescents on probation and 12 adolescents from juvenile correctional facilities or prisons. They explained their meanings of sex, their sexual behaviors, and their coping strategies for sexual problems. Participants conceptualized sex as physical intercourse, while excluding the emotional aspects of sex. They accepted adults' sexist attitudes toward male and female sexual behaviors, and followed adults' commercialization of sex. In contrast to their routinizing sexual behaviors, they had neither enough knowledge of sex nor effective strategies to solve sexual problems. The sexual activities of juvenile delinquents were influenced by their peer groups and sexual messages from media and internet, rather than by their tamely and school. The holistic view of the study highlights the importance of interactions between individuals and the ecological systems when interpreting the sexual experiences of juvenile delinquents.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore college women's views of women for forming an upright sex role identity and sex values. Method: The data were collected through in-depth interviews of 10 college women on Jeju Island from February 2002 to March 2002. The interviews were conducted by the writer of this thesis. Each interview lasted for about 45 minutes. The data were analyzed by the Giorgi method. Result: Five main meanings were identified: 1) unfairness 2) majesty 3) mothering 4) womenishness 5) backward in capacity. In other words, women's roles are to look after their family and to take care of household affairs. Women should be beautiful and have womenish traits. Women are less intelligent than men. Women are dependent on men though they suffer from unfairness. This study presents an evidence that the traditional sex-role attitudes still prevail. Conclusion: In order to form an upright sex role identity and sex values, institutional programs in the society and individual efforts are needed.

Korean-American and American adolescents' attitudes toward the elderly(OP Scale) and their perception on the generational difference(GN GAP) were compared to find whether there is a difference according to the race. Adolescents' perceived generational gap was considered to be one of the most influential factor affecting their attitudinal differences. Adolescents regardless of face showed a somewhat positive attitudes toward the elderly and they perceived generational gap a little positively. Adolescents' age and sex were found not to be related with their attitude toward the elderly and generational gap. For the Korean-Americans birth-order was negatively related to the generational gap perception. the quality of relationship with grandparents was the crucial factor influencing adolescents' perceptions on generational gap and their attitudes toward the elderly indirectly. Grandparents' health and age affected on the quality of relationship. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors which influence the college student sex behavior. The results can be used as the basis to establish health polices and a health promotion program to reduce the risks of sexual behavior of college students. The study subjects were random selected from college students in Kyonggido. The 335 subjects were selected from 4 schools including three colleges and one university. The self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 350 students, 335 of which were analyzed (after excluding the 15 incomplete or inaccurate data). The study took place between December 7-19, 1998. Regarding the analysis method, the SPSS program was used. The relationship between social and demographic characteristics and relevant factors was identified through Chi-squared test. The major findings of the study were follows: 1. Of the 335 respondents, thirty seven percent of men and ten percent of women had already experienced sexual intercourse. Significantly more males had experienced sexual experience than women. The majority of students, living with both their parents had less sexually experience than that living without their parents. There were religious differences, that students who believed in buddhism had more sexual experience than christian or catholic students. Students who reported drinking alcohol frequently had more sexual experience than those who didn't and it was statistically significant (${\chi}^2=47.6$ df=4 p=0.000). 2. Sexual awareness was relatively low. High level group of sex knowledge were less sexual experience than middle or low level group (${\chi}^2=6.038$ df=2 p=0.049). Women were more sexually aware than men (${\chi}^2=20.814$ df=2 p=0.000). Groups who had sisters and brothers were more sexually aware than those who few sisters and brothers. 3. Sixty one percent of respondents said that chastity before marriage should be kept but twenty four percent of them felt that it was unnecessary. Opponents to chastity before marriage had more sex experience than those for. It was statistically significant (${\chi}^2=48.967$ df=2 p=0.000). Those who agreed with the questionnaire point 'Even if people are not married, if they love each other, they can have sexual intercourse.' had more sexual intercourse than those who didn't agree. Those who agreed with the questionnaire point 'Even though people doesn't like, they can still have sexual intercourse.' had more sexual intercourse than those who disagree. On this point, men were three times higher of the opinion than women. So we can see the difference in the perception between men and women. As a result of this study, sexual awareness influences sexual attitudes and sexual attitudes influence sexual awareness influences sexual activity includes poor knowledge and uninformed attitudes about sex. Therefore sex education is needed and it is very important to reestablish concepts about sex.
