In order to modify incorrect flow data in the sewage system, the method using the stage-discharge relation and hydraulic characteristic curve of sewer pipe are applied. The modified data were verified with field measured data and the infiltration analysis using the modified data was carried out. When flowrate were measured using the flow-meter in fair weather, the stage data were comparatively consistent but velocity data were very poor for the most part. Therefore, it was recommended that sewage flowrate variation characteristic curve and infiltration were computed using the modified data on the basis of stage data. Especially, in the case of using the hydraulic characteristic curve, extrapolation results of the rainy season flowrate using regression curve on the basis of the data in fair weather were also reasonable.
Discharged pollution load for the management of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) is calculated on the basis of rainfall data for reference year. Rainfall has an influence on discharged pollution load in unit watershed with combined sewer system. This study reviewed the status of discharged pollution load and rainfall conditions. We also investigated rainfall effects on discharged pollution load by analyzing change of the load in accordance with increase of rainfall. The change ratio of discharged pollution load was 18.6% while inflow load only 5.8% for 5 years from 2004 to 2008 in Daejeon district. The greatest rainfall and rain days were over 2 times than the least during the period. This change in rainfall could have great effect on discharged pollution load. The analysis showed that discharged pollution load increased 2.1 times in case rainfall increased 2 times and 1.2 times in case rain days increased 2 times. Rainfall effects, therefore, should be considered to make resonable evaluation of discharged pollution load in the assessment of annual performances.

One of the big problems facing municipalities is the management and control of urban flooding where urban drainage systems are under growing pressure due to increases in urbanization, population and changes in the climate. Urban flooding causes environmental and infrastructure damage, especially to roads, this damage increasing maintenance costs. The aim of the present study is to develop a decision support tool to identify the performance of storm networks to address future risks associated with climate change in the Middle East region and specifically, illegal sewer connections in the storm networks of Karbala city, Iraq. The storm water management model has been used to simulate Karbala's storm drainage network using continuous hourly rainfall intensity data from 2008 to 2016. The results indicate that the system is sufficient as designed before consideration of extra sewage due to an illegal sewer connection. Due to climate changes in recent years, rainfall intensity has increased reaching 33.54 mm/h, this change led to flooding in 47% of manholes. Illegal sewage will increase flooding in the storm system at this rainfall intensity from between 39% to 52%.
Hydraulic modeling is widely used to simulate wastewater flow. The simulated models are used to prevent flood and many other problems associated with wastewater flow in planning or rehabilitating sewer systems. In this study, MAKESW (An engineer, South Korea), MOUSE (DHI, Denmark), and SWMM (XPSoftware, USA) are used to for hydraulic modeling of wastewater in C-city, South Korea and E-city, Iraq. These modeling tools produced different results. SWMM comparably overpredicted runoff and peak flow. In using SWMM, use of accurate data with a high confidential level, detail examination over the target basin surface, and the careful selection of a runoff model, which describes Korea's unique hydraulic characteristics are recommended. Modification of existing models through the optimization of variables cannot be achieved at this moment. Setting up an integrated modeling environment is considered to be essential to utilize modeling and further apply the results for various projects. Standardization of GIS database, the criteria for and the scope of model application, and database management systems need to be prepared to expand modeling application.
The study involved the measurement of flowrate and BOD in the Yeoju area and analyzed annual sewerage data by the I/I analysis technique which is common in Korea. The results of this study are as follows. The I/I for the Y-1 site before maintenance and after the completion of the whole process was reduced from 62% to 16.1% respectively with respect to maximum sewage flow per day. The average quality of water increased. The study measured the Y-2 site from a point of time corresponding to an 80% process rate and its I/I rate went up a little from 8.5% to 11.5%. At the Y-3 site, the I/I rate went up a little from 11% to 13.8%, while little change was noted in the average water quality. At the Y-4 site, the I/I rate was reduced from 43% to 16.9% and its average water quality went up. At the Y-5 site, the I/I quantity went up a little however its average water quality also went up largely. Therefore, it was concluded that the Y-5 site showed great improvement due to the sewer pipe maintenance.
In this work, the presence of nitrification biochemical oxygen demand (NBOD) frequently occurred in the sewer outflow in winter season was analysed by the COD fraction methods using the respirometry and process simulations with real operation data measurements and analysis. The activated sludge models applied in this process simulation were based on the ASM No.2d temp. models, published by International Association on Water Quality (IAWQ). The ASM No.2d model is an extension of the ASM No.2 model and takes into account of carbon removal, nitrification, denitrification and phosphorus removal. The denitrifying capacity of phosphorus accumulating organisms has been implemented in the ASM No.2d model because experimental evidence shows that some of the phosphorus accumulating organisms can denitrify. It was shown that the concentrations of autotrophs (X_AUT) in the secondary clarifier and the $NH_4-N$ of T-N increased in the presence of NBOD measurements. Because of the low temperature (average $8^{\circ}C$) and possible operational troubles, the outcoming autotrophs exhausted oxygen in the process of nitrifying $NH_4-N$.
Sewer Rehabilitation Project (SRP) is planed, designed and constructed to perform its intended performance as sewerage delivery systems. Recently, a subject of performance evaluation methodology development for SRP has become a great deal of concern among researchers in Korea. From the view point of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), however, the estimation of improvement efficiency for SRP is in lack of reliability due to the fact that affections for the treatment efficiency and operating condition are not reflected on SRP design and construction. In this study, statistical methodology was used in the analysis of data, which are taken during 1,186 days ($1^{st}$ Jan. 2005 - $31^{th}$ Mar. 2008) from the influent, effluent and operating conditions of full-scale STP($25,000m^3/d$). Then the effect of SRP on the influent characteristics and operating conditions changing was compared and evaluated. Results from the statistical evaluation show that SRP causes characteristic changes in influent and exerts a significant effect especially on the performance of STP.
