The deposition of solids in combined sewer systems results in a loss of flow capacity that may restrict flow and cause a local flooding and enhanced solids deposition. In order to solve these problems and proper pipe management, estimations of solid loads on land surface in a drainage basin and solid deposition in sewer system due to rainfall are needed but these tasks are very difficult and very expensive. In this study, procedures for estimating solid loads on surface in a drainage basin were applied and analyzed in Gunja drainage basin in Korea. Also, this paper presents the development and application of estimation equation for solid deposition in sewer system due to rainfall based on the solid deposition estimated using MOUSE model. As results, the comparison between estimated and measured solid deposition is difficult due to the absent of measured data, but the estimated values using developed equations show applicability compared with the results of MOUSE model and the application of the other basin. The developed estimation equations can be used usefully for the management of combined sewer system.
The accurate estimation of the area of individual landuse in each subbasin is crutial. However, because of the complication in landuse of an urban watershed, it is almost impossible to estimate the area of individual landuse in each subbasin by manual ways. For this reason, in this study, a systematic methodology is suggested to estimate individual landuse area of each subbasin using GIS. To construct data for applying GIS, CAD data including sewer layout and landuse are collected and converted into the GIS data such as shape files. An urban watershed, then, is divided into subbasins with respect to sewer layout and landuse. For each subbasin, the area of individual landuse including road areas are estimated by applying several GeoProcessing functions. The proposed methodology is applied to the Goon-Ja watershed in Seoul to demonstrate its applicability and it is concluded that the proposed methodology can estimate individual landuse properties efficiently and accurately.

Maintaining materialized views and/or replica can basically be considered as a client-sewer architecture that extracts the changes of the distributed source data and transfers them to the relevant target sites. View maintenance and materialized views are considered to be important for suggesting solutions to the problems such as a decision support, active databases, a data warehouse, temporal databases, internet applications, etc. In this paper an analysis is addressed that formulates the cost functions and evaluates them as the propagation subjects, objects, and update policies. The propagation subject can be the client side, sewer side, and the third: and the objects can be base tables, semi-base tables, and delta files: And the update policies can be the immediate, deferred and periodic ones, respectively.
The purpose of this study is to analyses 7 metropolitan cites on the urban facility data rather than application systems including water, sewer, and roads and to present the best way to reconfigure of the geospatial data in Korea. Data were mainly compiled from the 2nd NGIS(National Geographic Information Systems: 95-00) because the GIS data of this study is relatively important to generate favorable results due to their data precisely examinate by the 1st NGIS evaluated results. In results, GIS data and invested budget of the Seoul metropolitan government were not only covered 25 distracted areas of the fields, but also were overwhelming other six metropolitan government invested budget. Relatively the Daejeon metropolitan government had least invested budget resulted in Jess geospatial data than others. In particularly there were serious geospatial data error occurred even though geospatial data of the urban infrastructures like water, sewer, and roads including the national infrastructure like elec., comm., heat, oil pipes, and gas were facilitated with human habitants, gas and elec. had very high error data nearly two times high than the permitted error in 30cm. Therefore, this paper exhibited a LiDAR technology to regenerate high accuracy geospatial data of the metropolitan governments because of the new technology's extremely accuracy in 20cm in horizontal scale in fields.
One of the main factors which reduces the efficiency of a sewage treatment plant is the Inflow/Infiltration(Ⅰ/Ⅰ) in the sewer First we must calculate the quantity of Ⅰ/Ⅰ via the investigation of each sewer to establish the reduction plan of Ⅰ/Ⅰ. However, in Korea, we apply the results of a surveyed sample to the entire study area to establish the reduction plan of Ⅰ/Ⅰ. This methodology just considers the total Ⅰ/Ⅰ for the entire study area but it does not consider the quantity of Ⅰ/Ⅰ for the individual sewer systems. Therefore, we may need the model to consider the Ⅰ/Ⅰ in the individual sewer systems and we develop the model to calculate the Ⅰ/Ⅰ that happen in urban sewer systems. We estimate the Ⅰ/Ⅰ of individual systems by the developed model and the estimated Ⅰ/Ⅰ are utilized as the basic data for the establishment of Ⅰ/Ⅰ reduction plan. The observed Ⅰ/Ⅰ for the entire study area is distributed into the individual sewer systems according to their defect states. Here, the weights of defect elements are calculated using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) and we perform the uncertainty analysis for considering the errors using MCS(Monte Carlo Simulation).
For performance analysis of flood prevention projects, this study performed simulation (SWMM) for the five sites where the projects have been completed. The models were constructed using watershed and sewer information of the project sites and were verified using flood records in the past to improve accuracy. In this simulation, the design rainfall data (probability 30~50 years) and the rainfall data in the summer of 2017 were applied. When the design rainfall data was applied to the models, simulation results presented that all the sites were flooded before the projects, but after the projects all the sites were not flooded due to improve discharge capacity. And when the rainfall data in the summer of 2017 was applied to the models, simulation results presented that all the sites were flooded before the projects, but after the projects any sites did not occur flooding in this summer. So if the projects had not been completed, all the sites might be flooded in the summer of 2017. These effects were analyzed as the improvement of discharge capacity due to rehabilitation of sewer, construction of underground tunnel and pumping station, etc. As the results, ratio of sewer that water depth exceed diameter reduced from 52.3~75.8% to 17.1~39.8%.

Sewer deterioration models can offer important information on prediction of future condition of the asset to decision makers in their implementing sewer pipe networks management program. In this study, Markov chain model was used to estimate sewer deterioration trend based on the historical structural condition assessment data obtained by CCTV inspection. The data used in this study were limited to Hume pipe with diameter of 450 mm and 600 mm in three sub-catchment areas in city A, which were collected by CCTV inspection projects performed in 1998-1999 and 2010-2011. As a result, it was found that sewers in sub-catchment area EM have deteriorated faster than those in other two sub-catchments. Various main defects were to generate in 29% of 450 mm sewers and 38% of 600 mm in 35 years after the installation, while serious failure in 62% of 450 mm sewers and 74% of 600 mm in 100 years after the installation in sub-catchment area EM. In sub-catchment area SN, main defects were to generate in 26% of 450 mm sewers and 35% of 600 mm in 35 years after the installation, while in sub-catchment area HK main defects were to generate in 27% of 450 mm sewers and 37% of 600 mm in 35 years after the installation. Larger sewer pipes of 600 mm were found to deteriorate faster than smaller sewer pipes of 450 mm by about 12 years. Assuming that the percentage of main defects generation could be set as 40% to estimate the life expectancy of the sewers, it was estimated as 60 years in sub-catchment area SN, 42 years in sub-catchment area EM, 59 years in sub-catchment area HK for 450 mm sewer pipes, respectively. For 600 mm sewer pipes, on the other hand, it was estimated as 43 years, 34 years, 39 years in sub-catchment areas SN, EM, and HK, respectively.

Pollution loading of Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) is frequently over the capacity of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) receiving the water. The objectives of this study are to investigate water quality of CSOs in Anmyun-ueup, Tean province and to apply Storm Water Management Model to predict flow rate and water quality of the CSOs. The capacity of a local WWTP was also estimated according to rainfall duration and intensity. Eleven water quality parameters were analyzed to characterize overflows. SWMM model was applied to predict the flow rate and pollutant load of CSOs during rain event. Overall, profile of the flow and pollutant load predicted by the model well followed the observed data. Based on model prediction and observed data, CSOs frequently occurs in the study area, even with light precipitation or short rainfall duration. Model analysis also indicated that the local WWTP’s capacity was short to cover the CSOs.
In this study, we present a sewer pipe inspection technique through a combination of active sonar technology and deep learning algorithms. It is difficult to inspect pipes containing water using conventional CCTV inspection methods, and there are various limitations, so a new approach is needed. In this paper, we introduce a inspection method using active sonar, and apply an auto encoder deep learning model to process sonar data to distinguish between normal and abnormal pipelines. This model underwent training on sonar data from a controlled environment under the assumption of normal pipeline conditions and utilized anomaly detection techniques to identify deviations from established standards. This approach presents a new perspective in pipeline inspection, promising to reduce the time and resources required for sewer system management and to enhance the reliability of pipeline inspections.
In this study, statistical analysis under both stationary and non-stationary climate was conducted for rainfall data measured in Seoul. Generalised Extreme Value (GEV) distribution and Gumbel distribution were used for the analysis. Rainfall changes under the non-stationary climate were estimated by applying time variable (t) to location parameter (${\xi}$). Rainfall depths calculated in non-stationary climate increased by 1.1 to 6.2mm and 1.0 to 4.6mm for the GEV distribution and gumbel distribution respectively from those stationary forms. Changes in annual maximum rainfall were estimated with rate of change in the location parameter (${\xi}1{\cdot}t$), and temporal changes of return period were predicted. This was also available for re-evaluating the current sewer design return period. Design criteria of sewer system was newly suggested considering life expectance of the system as well as temporal changes in the return period.
