This study is to evaluate the uncertainty of the soil parameters associated with the Gap parameter during shield TBM tunnel excavation of ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ International Airport Terminal 2 connecting railway construction basic design. And This study is to evaluate the adequacy of the shield TBM design by performing a reliability analysis of the Surface settlement. In addition, By analyzing the reliability indices of the design constants and Sensitivity probability of failure to be used in designing an integer parameter Gap, and By evaluating the design constants of a great influence on the surface subsidence, it was to provide a basis for carrying out an optimum design.
The method in a bid to make better use of limited urban space amidst increasingly expanding urban area have been attempted in various ways. Efficient using underground space is one of the examples. The pipe roof and excavation for underground crossing implemented in this study was the part of evaluation of such attempt. However, the pipe roof method for underground crossing may cause the ground surface to be uplifted or settled down, having effect on structure above the ground. Thus in this study, a laboratory model test designed to evaluate the effect on surface during implementing pipe roof and excavation was carried out. The ground displacement during pipe roof advancing and excavation is usually occurred in a radial shape but as the study focused on trackbed, the evaluation included ground settlement only. Thus, appropriately-scaled model was selected considering domestic geological characteristics and operation characteristics of traditional and high-speed rail trains and the qualitative evaluation of displacement was carried out with a certain ground loss depending on excavation after categorizing trackbed settlement pattern depending on depth of top soil.

The shield TBM method is widely adopted for tunneling works in urban area because it has more beneficial ways to control settlement at ground surface than conventional mined tunneling. In the shield tunneling, backfill grouting at tail void is crucial because it is supposed not only to restraint ground deformation around tail void during excavation but also to compensate precedent ground settlement by pushing up the ground with highly pressurized grout. However, the tail void grouting has been found to be ineffective for settlement compensation particularly in sandy ground, which might be caused by complicate interaction between ground and tail void grouting. In this paper, the effects of tail void grouting on behavior of ground in shield TBM tunneling were investigated based on 3-dimensional finite element analyses. The results of numerical analyses indicated that backfill grouting actually reduces settlement by degrading settlement increasing rate in excavation, which means decrease of volume loss. Meanwhile, the grouting could not contribute to compensate the precedent settlement, because reduction of volume loss by grouting was found to be counterbalanced by volume change of ground.

The shield tunneling method can minimize surface settlements by preventing the deformation of tunnel face and tunnel intrados due to tunnel excavation. For this purpose, it is very important to control the operating conditions of shield TBM. The face pressure and backfill pressure for tail void grouting should be the most important and immediate measure not only to restrain surface settlement, but also to influence the effective stress and pore water pressure around the circumstance of tunnel during excavation. The reaction of the ground to the application of face pressure and backfill pressure relies on the stiffness and permeability of ground. Especially, the reaction of saturated clayey ground formations, which shows the time-dependent deformation, is different from the permeable ground. Hence, in this paper it was investigated how the TBM operating conditions, ground stiffness, and permeability impact on the surface settlement of saturated clayey ground. For this purpose, a series of parametric studies were carried out by means of the stress-pore water pressure coupled FE analysis. The results show that the settlement of soft clayey ground is divided into the immediate settlement and consolidation settlement. Especially, the consolidation settlement depends on the ground stiffness and permeability. In addition, the existence of critical face pressure and backfill pressure was identified. The face pressure and backfill pressure above the critical value may cause an unexpected increase in the ground settlement.

InSAR (Interferometry SAR) technique is a technique that uses complex data to obtain phase difference information from two or more SAR image data, and enables high-resolution image extraction, surface change detection, elevation measurement, and glacial change observation. In many countries, research on the InSAR technique is being conducted in various fields of study such as volcanic activity detection, glacier observation in Antarctica, and ground subsidence analysis. In this study, a case of large ground settlement due to groundwater level drawdown during tunnelling was introduced, and ground settlement analyses using InSAR technique and numerical analysis method were compared. The maximum settlement and influence radius estimated by the InSAR technique and numerical method were found to be quite similar, which confirms the reliability of the InSAR technique. Through this case study, it was found that the InSAR technique reliable to use for estimating ground settlement and can be used as a key technology to identify the long-term ground settlement history in the absence of measurement data.

Recently, as the development of underground spaces has become active due to rapid urbanization and population density, interest in the ground behavior according to the construction of underground spaces is increasing. In large cities with high population density and many buildings, ground subsidence has a great impact on structures and there may be a risk of collapse, so the analysis of ground behavior due to underground construction is essential. Previous studies have been conducted on the subsidence pattern of the surface and the deformation of the tunnel when constructing the tunnel, but analysis has rarely been conducted by using actual topographic information. Therefore, this study analyzed the difference in ground behavior between the actual topography and the flat topography. As a result, it was confirmed that ground settlement occurs at higher elevations, such as in mountainous topography, and when the numerical analysis is performed considering topographical information, the crown settlement of the tunnel is up to about approx. It showed a difference of 10 mm, and it was found that the sensitivity was less in the case of displacement of tunnel wall compared to the crown settlement and ground settlement. The numerical analysis considering the actual GIS-based topographic information presented in this study can be used to obtain more accurate surface subsidence data to understand the behavior of the upper structure due to tunnel excavation.
The importance of considering soil-structure interaction effect in the analysis and design of RC frame buildings is increasingly recognized but still not penetrated to the grass root level owing to various complexities involved. It is well established fact that the soil-structure interaction effect considerably influence the design of multi-storey buildings subjected to lateral seismic loads. The shear walls are often provided in such buildings to increase the lateral stability to resist seismic lateral loads. In the present work, the linear soil-structure analysis of a G+5 storey RC shear wall building frame resting on isolated column footings and supported by deformable soil is presented. The finite element modelling and analysis is carried out using ANSYS software under normal loads as well as under seismic loads. Various load combinations are considered as per IS-1893 (Part-1):2002. The interaction analysis is carried out with and without shear wall to investigate the effect of inclusion of shear wall on the total and differential settlements in the footings due to deformations in the soil mass. The frame and soil mass both are considered to behave in linear elastic manner. It is observed that the soil-structure interaction effect causes significant total and differential settlements in the footings. Maximum total settlement in footings occurs under vertical loads and inner footings settle more than outer footings creating a saucer shaped settlement profile of the footings. Each combination of seismic loads causes maximum differential settlement in one or more footings. Presence of shear wall decreases pulling/pushing effect of seismic forces on footings resulting in more stability to the structures.
The NTR(New Tubular Roof) method was used to secure the stability of the tunnel and minimize the subsidence of the road. The tunnel was constructed at about 7.5 meters deep below the highway. with a width of about 21 meters. Following the NTR method, 13 steel pipes with a diameter of 2.3 meters were digged and pushed in longitudinally along the tunnel profile and cut out sides of pipes to connect to adjacent pipes, then filled the inside of pipes and the connected space between pipes with concrete to complete the lining of the tunnel to be excavated. As the steel pipes were digged in sequentially, the area of relaxation was connected to each other and behaves like a gradually widening tunnel. When the steel pipes were digged in to the widest points of the tunnel, the settlement rate of the road surface was increasing to the maximum as 2.2 mm and the total settlement until the lining construction was approximately 7.7 mm. After that, by excavating a tunnel inside the pre-installed lining, an additional settlement of about 4.3 mm was occurred, resulting in the total settlement of about 11.8 mm after completing of tunnel construction.

Mechanical behavior of underground cavity construction such as tunnel is very difficult to estimate due to complexity and uncertainty of ground. Prediction of behavior according to excavation of tunnel mainly uses method utilized of model test or numerical analysis. But scale model test is difficult to reappear field condition, numerical analysis is also very hard to seek choice of suitable constituent model and input data. To solve this problem, this paper forecasted the deformation of tunnel that applied to information of crown settlement and convergence, RMR in weathered granite by using the regression analysis. The result of the analysis shows that the crown settlement according to excavation occurs approximately 70~80% of total displacements within about 20 days. As a result of the prediction of crown settlement and convergence, an exponential function becomes more accurate at measurements than an algebraic function. Also this paper got a correlation in comparison of RMR and displacements of 6 sections.
