Denoising, registering, and detecting changes of 3D digital map are generally conducted by skilled technicians, which leads to inefficiency and the intervention of individual judgment. The manual post-processing for analyzing 3D point cloud data of construction sites requires a long time and sufficient resources. This study develops automation technology for analyzing 3D point cloud data for construction sites. Scanned data are automatically denoised, and the denoised data are stored in a specific storage. The stored data set is automatically registrated when the data set to be registrated is prepared. In addition, regions with non-homogeneous densities will be converted into homogeneous data. The change detection function is developed to automatically analyze the degree of terrain change occurred between time series data.
In the Construction Technology Promotion Act (CTPA) of the Republic of Korea, safety management cost is enforced as a statutory cost that must be included in the budget of construction projects. However, the construction of underground electric power transmission facilities (UEPTFs) is not included in the category of construction works defined in the CTPA. Consequently, the statutory safety management cost does not apply to the construction of UEPTFs. To overcome this limitation, the clients of UEPTF construction projects generally provide internal guidelines enabling the addition of the safety management cost in the project budget. Nevertheless, even after the execution of the internal guidelines, some important cost items are omitted from the budget owing to the incompleteness of the guidelines. In this context, this paper proposes a complete set of accounting items and their calculation methods for appropriate budgeting of the safety management cost of UEPTF construction projects. To this end, the current budgeting method of the safety management cost of UEPTF construction projects is analyzed, and a questionnaire study is performed to confirm the necessary cost items and their appropriate calculation methods. Based on the results of the questionnaire study, a set of accounting items and their calculation criteria for the budgeting of the safety management cost of UEPTF construction projects are proposed.
The objective of this study is to find the optimal set-point of a hybrid Plant, which is combined by renewable energy plant of the GSHP(Ground Source Heat Pump) and the conventional plant(chiller, boiler). The work presented in this study was carried out by using the EnergyPlus(Version 2.0). In order to validate the simulation model, field data were measured from a building. The GSHP was used as a base plant and the conventional plant as the assistant plant. Various temperatures were controlled (zone summer set-point, zone winter set-point, chilled water temperature, hot water temperature) to find the optimal set-point temperature of the system. The influence of the various set-points were analyzed seasonally.

A new concept, namely the error discrimination of a code defined as the capability to not only detect errors from two distinct error sets but also to distinguish between them has been introduced in [SAKA 89a]. Consider $E_+\;and\;E_-$ as the two distinct error sets, namely the positive error set and the negative error set respectively. If a code C is not only capable of detecting any error e in {$E_+,\;E_-$}, but also able to identify the error set to which e belongs then the code is said to be an $E_+\;&\;E_-$ error discriminating code. The error discriminating property enables construction of unidirectional error detecting/correcting codes using asymmetric error control code. We derive here theory for asymmetric t error correcting and d error detecting codes. Furthermore, unidirectional error control code construction methods are introduced using asymmetric error control codes and $E_+\;&\;E_-$ error discriminating codes.

Due to various project delivery methods and the complexity of construction projects in the construction industry, developing the framework of construction management for critical, highly complex projects in the construction industry has become problematic. Currently, a set of construction manuals play a pivotal role in planning and managing construction projects as subcontractors try to complete their scope of work according to the instructions of a general contractor. It is challenging for general contractors to write a construction management procedure manual to cover various types of project delivery methods and construction projects. In construction, the construction procedure manuals describe specific actions to be taken through the project. In reality a few contactors own such manuals and their construction schedules include more construction operation activities. Thus, it is hard to estimate the workload and productivity of construction managers because the manual and the schedule do not present the amount of management efforts required to complete a project. This paper proposes a framework to present construction management tasks according to project delivery methods which can be applied to various construction projects. Actions for management tasks were mapped and were integrated with construction activities throughout the project life cycle. The framework can then be used to give specific instructions to project participants, collect management actions, and replicate management actions throughout the project life cycle. The framework can also be can used to visualize complete construction project to analyze and manage construction management activities in each phase of a project in order to enhance productivity and efficiency. The studies of existing construction manuals were carried out to identify construction managers' responsibilities. An artificial intelligence program, CLIPS (C-Language Integrated Production System) was used to search for appropriate actions for impending tasks from a set of predefined actions to be performed for a given situation. The framework would significantly help construction managers to understand interrelations among management tasks or actions within a project. Furthermore, the framework can be embedded into Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Facility Management Systems (FMS) so that designers and constructors would execute constructability review before construction begins.
Let $P_c(z)=z^n+c$ be a complex polynomial with an integer $n{\geq}2$. We derive a criterion that the critical orbit of $P_c$ escapes to infinity and investigate its applications to the degree-n bifurcation set. The intersection of the degree-n bifurcation set with the real line as well as with a typical symmetric axis is explicitly written as a function of n. A well-defined escape-time algorithm is also included for the improved construction of the degree-n bifurcation set.

Robots for construction sites, although not deeply widespread, are finding applications in the duties of project monitoring, material movement, documentation, security, and simple repetitive construction-related tasks. A significant shortcoming in the use of robots is the complexity involved in programming and re-programming an automation routine. Robotic programming is not an expected skill set of the traditional construction industry professional. Therefore, this research seeks to deliver a low-cost approach toward re-programming that does not involve a programmer's skill set. The researchers in this study examined an approach toward programming a terrestrial-based drone so that it follows a taped path. By doing so, if an alternative path is required, programmers would not be needed to re-program any part of the automated routine. Changing the path of the drone simply requires removing the tape and placing a different path - ideally simplifying the process and quickly allowing practitioners to implement a new automated routine. Python programming scripts were used with a DJI Robomaster EP Core drone, and a terrain navigation assessment was conducted. The study examined the pass/fail rates for a series of trial run over different terrains. The analysis of this data along with video recording for each trial run allowed the researchers to conclude that the accuracy of the tape follow technique was predictable on each of the terrain surfaces. The accuracy and predictability inform a non-coding construction practitioner of the optimal placement of the taped path. This paper further presents limitations and suggestions for some possible extended research options for this study.

In this paper, we propose a new power-efficient and reliable connected dominating set based routing protocol in the mobile ad hoc networks. Gateway nodes must be elected in consideration of residual energy and mobility because frequent reconstruction of connected dominating set result in transmission error for route losses. If node density is high, it results in a lot of contentions and more delays for network congestion. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new construction method of connected dominating set that supports reliable and efficient data transmission through minimizing reconstruction of connected dominating set by delaying neighbor set advertisement message broadcast in proportion to weighted sum of residual energy, mobility, and the number of neighbor nodes. The performance of the proposed protocol is proved by simulation of various conditions.

In this study, ultrasonic pulse velocity was analyzed to evaluate the high-temperature mechanical properties of concrete mixed with non-sintered hwangto. The W/B of the specimens was set at 0.41, the percentage of non-sintered hwangto admixture was set at two levels of 15,30%. The target temperature of the specimen is set to 6 levels of 20, 100, 200, 300, 500, 700 ℃, and the heating rate is set to 1℃/min. The result showed that the amount of non-sintered hwangto incorporated into the concrete tends to results in lower compressive strength. Ultrasonic pulse velocity showed similar trends, but differed in some areas.

Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) is a systematic optimization process that allows users to compare different alternatives and to determine if a project is a solid investment. Many state DOTs have included CBA in their pavement management systems (PMSs) to help allocate state funds for maintenance, rehabilitation, resurfacing, and reconstruction of pavements. In a typical CBA, each pavement type has an assigned weight factor which represents the level of importance of this pavement type. To conduct an accurate CBA, it is essential to select appropriate weight factors. Arbitrarily assigning weights factors to pavements can lead to biased and inaccurate funding allocation decisions. The purpose for this paper is to outline a method to develop an ideal set of weight factors that can be utilized to conduct more accurate CBA. To this end, a matrix of all possible weight factors sets was developed. CBA was conducted for each set of weight factors to obtain a population of possible optimization solutions. Then a regression analysis was performed to establish the relationship between benefit and weight factors. Finally, a multi-objective genetic algorithm was applied to select the optimal set of weight factors. The findings from this study can be used by state DOTs to strategically manage their roadway systems in a cost effective manner.
