  • Each layer operates independently in the present network structure. However, the importance of designing cross layer, which adapt between different layers, is on the rise, because of adapt to the variable communication environments. In this paper, we investigate the scheduling techniques of the cross layer. we research conventional scheduling methods and propose the multimedia service scheduling method which will be applied in future wireless communication environments. This method considers the diversity of multimedia service and manages the radio resources efficiently Moreover, we apply AMC for flexibility and improve the performance of the scheduling method. The proposed method is verified through the simulation appying variable environments.

  • Mobile WiMAX system provides various classes of traffic such as real-time and non-realtime services. These services have different QoS requirements and the QoS aware scheduling has been an important issue. Although many of scheduling algorithms for various services in OFDMA system have been proposed, it is needed to be modified to be applied to Mobile WiMAX system. Since Mobile WiMAX supports five kinds of service classes, it is important to take QoS characteristics of each class into consideration. In this paper, we propose an efficient packet scheduling algorithm to support QoS of each class. Proposed scheme selects a service class first considering QoS Characteristics of each class and choose an appropriate user in the selected class. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance than the other algorithm.

  • Guaranteed Frame Rate(GFR) service is intended to efficiently support TCP/IP traffic in ATM networks. The GFR service not only guarantees a minimum service rate at the frame level, but also supports a fair share of available bandwidth. The original GFR proposal outlined two switch implementation scheme : FIFO Queuing and perVC-Queuing. In general, it has been shown that FIFO Queuing is not sufficient to provide rate guarantees and perVC-Queuing with scheduling is needed. In perVC-Queuing implementation, scheduling algorithm plays key rule to provide rate guarantees and to improve fairness. We proposed a new scheduling algorithm for the GFR service. Proposed algorithm can provide minimum service rate guarantee and fair sharing to GFR VCs. Computer simulation results show that proposed scheduling scheme provide a much better performance in TCP Goodput and fairness than previous scheme.

  • In this paper, we proposed the mechanism for the buffer allocation and a cell scheduling method with logical separation a single buffer in the ATm switch, and analyzed the cell loss probability and the delay of each trafic (CBR/VBR/ABR) based on the weighted value and the dynamic cell service scheduling algorithm. The proposed switch buffering system classifies composite trafics incoming to the switch, according to the characteristic of traffic, then stores them in the logically separated buffers, and adopts the round-robin service with weighted value in order to transmit cells in buffers though one output port. We analyzed 4 cell service scheduling algorithms with dynamic round-robinfor each logically separated service line of a single buffer, in which buffers have the respective weighted values and 3 classes on mixed traffic which characteristized by traffic descriptor. In simulation, using SIMCRIPT II.5., we model the VBR and the ABR traffics as ON/OFF processes, and the CBR traffic as a Poisson processes. As the results of analysis according to the proposed buffer management mechanism and cell service algorithm, we have found that the required QoS of each VC can be quaranteed depends on a scale of weighted values allocated to buffers that changed the weighted values, and cell scheduling algorithm.

  • In multi-server environment, We have to design a mechanism that selects appropriate servers for processing each service request while maximizing server throughput and minimizing average response of service requests. In this paper, we propose a job scheduling method for courseware delivery system using a idle computing resources on LAN. The proposed scheduling method propose an approach that uses client service request time, server available period and server load of requested service as guidelines of server selection. Comparing the our approach method to conventional one, experiments that the proposed approach provides better performance.

  • Strict priority scheduling scheme is a good candidate for the implementation of service differentiation in an Internet because of simplicity in implementation and the capability to guarantee the delay requirement of the highest class of traffic. However, it is also blown that strict priority starves the lower-class traffic at the cost of prioritizing the higher-class traffic. The purpose of this work is to propose an analytic method which can estimate the average delay performance of Diffserv service architecture and shows that strict priority scheme does not sacrifice the lower class traffic over a diverse condition of the load. From the numerical experiments for three-class Diffserv network we validate our argument that strict priority scheme may be applied to a service differentiation scheme for the future Internet.

  • In this paper, we investigate the scheduling algorithm of router system for Internet service based on the qualify-of-service (QoS) level of the input source traffics. We suggest an approprite scheduling algorithm in order to satisfy their QoS requirements for the loss-sensitive traffic and delay-sensitive traffic. For this purpose, we first study the service requirements of the multiplexer in Internet and the definition of QoS based on the ITU-T white recommendations. Second. we suggest a functional architecture of the multiplexer and the scheduling algorithm to satisfy various QoS requirements for Internet service. Finally. the performance measures of interest, namely steady-state packet loss probability and average delay, are discussed by simulation results.

  • In this paper, we propose a new cell discarding and scheduling scheme which reduce cell loss rate by measuring, in real time, the number of discarded cells in the queuing system with a different loss priority for each class of service such that each class of service meets its cell loss rate requirements and reduce average delay rate for the traffic that is sensitive in cell delay in output buffer of the ATM switch. Throughout the computer simulation, the existing scheduling scheme and proposed scheme are compared with respect to cell loss rate and average delay time.

  • Scheduling algorithm proposed in this paper is based on both DWRR(Dynamic Weighed Round Robin) method and QLT(Queue Length Threshold) method. The proposed scheduling algorithm guarantees delay property of realtime traffic, not considered in previous DWRR method, with serving realtime traffic preferentially by using RR(Round Robin) method which service each channel equally and QLT algorithm that is dynamic time priority method. Proposed cell scheduling algorithm may increase some complexity over conventional DWRR scheme because of delay priority based cell transmission method. However, due to reliable ABR service and congesition avoidance capacity, proposed scheduling algorithm has good performance over conventional DWRR scheme. Also, delay property based cell transmission method in proposed algorithm minimizes cell delay and requires less temporary buffer size

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient MAC scheduling algorithm for supporting Bluetooth scatternet operations. Our proposed algorithm improves overall performances of scatter mode[2, 3] and considers QoS requirements of each link of the bridge node of a scatternet. Scatter mode is based on time division scheduling and provides every links of a scatternet with fair service opportunities. However, since each Bluetooth devices has various traffic characteristics. fair allocation of service opportunities is not efficient and may cause extravagance of wireless resources. Therefore, we propose a new efficient inter-piconet scheduling algorithm compliant with the current Bluetooth specification[1], and demonstrate its improved performances via computer simulations.
