The paper is aiming at a critical review of some important aspects of library cooperation in cataloging. It examines the developments of cooperation in cataloging in brief, attempts a detailed account of centralized and cooperative cataloging by bringing out the strengths and weaknesses of each, and reviews important cooperative projects in cataloging as they have been carried out on regional, national and international levels. Examination is made of such cooperative ventures as technical service centers, a variety of Library of Congress programs designed to ease the burden of cataloging for libraries, and the shared cataloging part of the National Program for Acquisition and Cataloging.

As informatization has been accelerated, the secure information flow has become a major social concern. In that, this paper examines the theoretical background of the information society and the concept of universal service; compares the contrasting perspectives on the social meanings of information; analyzes the definition, importance, and components of information security and suggests some strategies on information security centering around the technical and institutional aspects of it. In so doing, this study aims at establishing the information security and at enhancing our understanding on the information society.

Towards the deployment of 3rd generation systems, Virtual Home Environment (VHE), stemming from 3GPP, appears to be a powerful concept advocating the provision and delivery of personalized services to roaming users across network and terminal boundaries. This paper aims to expose the pathway for materializing the VHE concept, via the specification, implementation and evaluation of a prototype. Core aspects for realizing the concept such as the business and roaming models are presented, while a VHE enabling architecture utilizing key technologies (OSA/Parlay, MExE, and USAT) is introduced. The proposed architecture has already been evaluated by performing an initial trial demonstration. Currently it is being extended to support VHE service provision to roaming users, an aspect to be addressed by the final trial.

Emergence of the fourth generation mobile communication system (4G system) is now in its dawn. This article proposes a perspective framework on the 4G system, and discusses various kinds of system aspects and technological requirements in terms of novel service features, spectrum management, radio access technologies, wired access integration, core network, and mobile terminal. The focus of the article is to define the scope and features of the 4G system in an overall system/network viewpoint. From the foreseeable development trends, it is highly expected that whatever emerges in the 4G system will be some kind of constantly evolving and grand recursive concatenation of all the existing system/network developments.

The Purposes of this study are twofold. Firstly, the study investigated the spec of the server environment for managing the academic affairs, and overviewed the theoretical background in connection with the clients and the server as a way of implementing a comprehensive management system for school information which can be effectively utilized for cyber education, multimedia education, joint ownership of learning materials, and educational activities as well as management of the academic affairs using the UNIX-based server, which has lately installed on school thanks to the speedy development of the Internet, Secondly, this study, placing emphasis on practical aspects, attempted to find a method of implementing the web server for constructing a school website in order to provide educational information.

Unlike industrial manipulators, the manipulators mounted on service robots are interacting with humans in various aspects. Therefore, safety has been one of the most important design issues. Many compliant robot arms have been introduced for safety. It is known that passive compliance method has faster response and higher reliability than active ones. In this paper, a new safety mechanism based on passive compliance is proposed. Passive mechanical elements, specifically transmission angle of the 4-bar linkage, springs and shock absorbing modules are incorporated into this safety mechanism. This mechanism works only when the robot arm exerts contact force much more than the human pain tolerance. Validity of this mechanism is verified by simulations and experiments. It is shown that the manipulator using this mechanism provides higher performance and safety than those using other passive compliance mechanisms or active methods.

In order to manage a cluster system that consists of a number servers, management aspects such as configuration management, fault management, performance management, and user management should be considered. Especially, it is necessary to monitor performances for performance and fault management. An agent in each server collects performance counters, status changes, and events occurred in normal or abnormal states. The data collected are delivered to a collector sorter and processed in a report tool for performance analysts and management decision in the cluster system point of view, by detecting fault state and tracing out resource usage, service response, and response, and states until failed. In this paper we propose an architecture modeling of a performance report tool for proactive cluster system management. Some results on a cluster system are presented.

This study was to provide the basis for the development of family life education programs for caregiving families. The data were collected from 374 adult children who were giving care to their older parents in Seoul. Adult children reported experiencing more caregiving problems in the areas of personlities of older parents psychological burden and parents' health than in the areas of caregiver's health and financial burden Women were more likely to experience caregiving problems than men. Adult children indicated higher levels of perceived knowledge on planning for later life psychological characteristics of older parents and keeping good relationships with older parents. They reported more need for knowledge on physical change of older parents and planning for later life while there were less need for knowledge on sharing caregiving roles with others and social service programs. The needs for caregiving education were also identified in the aspects as to participation purposes methods times and agencies. Given these findings this study suggests some practical implications for the development of family life education programs for caregiving families. Further studies should help to advance the development and practice of family life education programs for caregiving families.

In order to promote a foodservice professionally, the operator must carefully plan of enterprise goals and how to meet them. This is especially truth of foodservices in which both production and service aspects take place under one roof. In such a case, the foodservice operator sells products and services not just one. It is up to the foodservice operator to package the products and services in a manner that is most pleasing customers. The first stop here is to determine who the customers are and what hey want. The process of answering these questions and developing a program to meet the needs identified is called marketing. This study deals primarily with internal promotional concepts, in this study it is important to cover a few of the basic concepts of marketing as well. Thus this study is try to present the merchandising food. In this study, the merchandising food is based on training employees, planning special promotions, featuring special menu items, creating atmosphere, developing good public relations using promotional materials.

This paper deals with a performance evaluation model of transporters in refrigerate warehouse. This study focussed on determining refrigerate warehouse design to minimize the expected travel time to improve the transporter performance and to minimize the operating costs. This study proposes the important detail aspects of refrigerate warehouse design, operational parameters and congestions. For solving this problem, we have shown a mathematical model to compute the initial value of the system performance and also a simulation model using AutoMod. A systematic approach proposed in this study for an optimal planning of order-picking warehouse is known as an effective method for the planning of order-picking warehouse and a performance evaluation problem of refrigerate warehouse operation.
