  • Today, According to it widely used that third generation mobile networks service, WCDMA module development technology and its utilization is expanding increasingly and thus to IT Convergence industries is a trend that a lot of appears. This paper, OBD-II communications to bring a vehicle information use and data to an external server transfer and it was developed that vehicle status monitoring from other external devices can be system. From the various sensors inside a vehicle using the OBD-II connector read the information, after converting the user easier to see, WCDMA module using the car status monitoring system to transfer to an external data server was implemented. Developed to test the performance of the system using virtual's state vehicle simulator, which occurs in the real car that will generate the data. It was sent to the OBD-II connector to be occurred data, vehicle status monitoring system was confirmed that Data was received without error. In addition, When this data using WCDMA transmit data to an external server the same data was confirmed that it was received without error. In the future, this technology using the OBD-II vehicle IT convergence technology can be used in a wide range.

  • The telemedicine using independent client-server system via networks can provide high quality normalized services to many hospitals, specifically to local/rural area hospitals. This will eventually lead to a decreased medical cost because the centralized institute can handle big computer hardware systems and complicated software systems efficiently and economically, Customized cancer radiation treatment planning for each patient Is very useful for both a patient and a doctor because it makes possible for the most effective treatment with the least possible dose to patient. Radiation planners know that too small a dose to the tumor can result in recurrence of the cancer, while too large a dose to healthy tissue can cause complications or even death. The best solution is to build an accurate planning simulation system to provide better treatment strategies based on each patient's computerized tomography (CT) image. We are developing a web-based and a network-based customized cancer radiation therapy simulation system consisting of four Important computer codes; a CT managing code for preparing the patients target data from their CT image files, a parallel Monte Carlo high-energy beam code (PMCEPT code) for calculating doses against the target generated from the patient CT image, a parallel linear programming code for optimizing the treatment plan, and scientific data visualization code for efficient pre/post evaluation of the results. The whole softwares will run on a high performance Beowulf PC cluster of about 100-200 CPUs. Efficient management of the hardware and software systems is not an easy task for a hospital. Therefore, we integrated our system into the client-sewer system via network or web and provide high quality normalized services to many hospitals. Seamless communication with doctors is maintained via messenger function of the server-client system.

  • Ship Standard Network was submitted as a common subject of e-navigation by 81th IMO MSC 2005. This agenda was given an official status with strategy planning of e-navigation for Ship Standard Network after approval of WG program of 81th MSC 2006. Nowadays approximately 400 heterogeneous navigation and communication equipments are working on ships at sea. Standardization of ship network is to support exchanging various data efficiently. Among them, 4S network is defined as a wireless communication network between ship to ship and ship to shore which provides unceasing communication channel ship to shore. It has been expected to trigger various services and applications based on 4S network. However, no technologies and products has been appeared at fields yet. but now there's not specific technologies and developing products. In this paper, We developed a 4S multiple media switching server and a ship-land information exchange system to overcome the heterogeneity and provide efficient communication environments.. The performance of the implemented system was verified by TTA(Telecommunications Technology Association) V&V(Verification and Validation).

Development of A Web-cache System with Compression Capability (압축 기능을 가진 웹캐시 시스템 개발)

  • As the number of Internet users and the amount of web contents have increased very fast, reducing the load of web servers and providing web services more rapidly have been great issues. A web-cache system, which is located between the user and the web server, has been used by many web service providers as an effective way to reduce the load of web servers and the web service response time. In this paper, we have developed a web-cache system which is based on the Squid cache and has a compression capability. The web-cache system in which compression capability reduces the amount of network traffic and the web service response time by transfering the web contents in the compressed format over the network between the web-cache system and the user. The performance enhancement is greater in the reverse-cache system than in the forward-cache system because in the case of the reverse-cache system, the cache reduces the amount of traffic on the Internet which is the bottleneck in the network path between the user and the web server. The experimentation result shows that the amount of data traffic has reduced from 2 to 8 times depending on the size of the web contents. The web server response time has reduced 37% on the average and when the size of the web content is greater than 10Kbyte, the response time has reduced 87% on the average.

A Hierarchical Server Structure for Parallel Location Information Search of Mobile Hosts (이동 호스트의 병렬적 위치 정보 탐색을 위한 서버의 계층 구조)

  • The development in the mobile computing systems have arisen new and previously unforeseen problems, such as problems in information management of mobile host, disconnection of mobile host and low bandwidths of wireless communications. Especially, location information management strategy of mobile host results in an increased overhead in mobile computing systems. Due to the mobility of the mobiles host, the changes in the mobile host's address depends on the mobile host's location, and is maintained by mapping physical address on virtual address, Since previously suggested several strategies for mapping method between physical address and virtual address did not tackle the increase of mobile host and distribution of location information, it was not able to support the scalability in mobile computing systems. Thus, to distribute the location inrormation, we propose an advanced n-depth LiST (Location information Search Tree) and the parallel location search and update strategy based on the advanced n-depth LiST. The advanced n-depth LiST is logically a hierarchical structure that clusters the location information server by ring structure and reduces the location information search and update cost by parallel seatch and updated method. The experiment shows that even though the distance of two MHs that communicate with each other is large, due to the strnctural distribution of location information, advanced n-depth LiST results in good performance. Moreover, despite the reduction in the location information search cost, there was no increase in the location information update cost.

A New Resource Lists Architecture using Dynamic Notification Control Method (새로운 동적 통지 제어 방식을 사용한 리소스 리스트 구조)

  • In SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) service, users should send SIP SUBSCRIBE messages to the SIP server to get subscription informations of the other parties, and total amount of SIP messages becomes large in network as refresh messages and notification messages are generated to each SIP subscription. In this paper, a new resource lists architecture using dynamic notification control method has been proposed to solve these problems. In this architecture, service users can control event notification generation rate dynamically from the server according to the operation circumstances, and users can control generation of notification messages during refresh for maintaining SIP session. Furthermore users can also control generation of notification messages according to session connection conditions. A new resource lists MIME type has been designed, and several parameters for dynamic notification message control have been added to the extended SIP message headers. In this system new resource lists MIME type can be used for processing of the event package. Therefore total amount of SIP messages in network can be largely reduced, and load of the resource lists server for processing messages can be reduced also. The performance of the proposed method has been evaluated by experiments.

An Efficient Cache Maintenance Scheme for Long Disconnected Mobile Clients (장기간 접속 단절된 이동 클라이언트를 위한 효과적 캐시 유지 기법)

  • In the mobile computing environment, caching data at the client's side is a useful technique for improving the performance. For caching to be effective, the cache contents must be consistent with those stored in the server. That is, unfortunately, difficult to enforce due to the frequent disconnection and mobility of clients. In the literature, the basic approach adopted is for the sever to periodically broadcast invalidation reports(IRs) that contain information about objects that have been updated recently. However IR-based cache maintenance scheme has a main drawback. Any client who has been disconnected longer than w seconds has to discard all cached items even some of them may still be valid. In this paper, we propose two main schemes which can adapt clients' losing IR messages by long disconnection. First, the client sends its disconnection time when connection is re-established, and the server uses this information to decide the size of broadcast window w dynamically. Second, the server maintains IR messages for a given period of time and a client who has been disconnected longer than w seconds can verify its cache consistency individually. Compared to previous IR-based schemes, our schemes can significantly reduce cache missing and uplink request and improve the throughput by reducing response time.

  • Excessive memory buffer requirement in continuous media playback is a serious impediment of wide spread usage of on-line multimedia service. Skewed access frequency of available video files provides an opportunity of re-using the date blocks which has been loaded by one session for later usage. We present novel algorithm which minimizes the buffer requirement in multiple sessions of multimedia playbacks. In continuous media playback originated from the disk, a certain amount of memory buffer is required to synchronize asynchronous disk. Read operation and synchronous playback operation. As aggregate playback bandwodth increases, larger amount of buffer needs to be allocated for this synchronization purpose. The focus of this work is to study the asymptotic behavior of the synchronization buffer requirement and to develop an algorithm coping with this excessive buffer requirement under bandwidth congestioon. We argue that in a large scale continuous media server, it may not be necessary to read the blocks for each session directly from the disk. The beauty of our work lies in the fact that it dynamically adapts to disk utilization of the server and finds the optimal way of servicinh the individual sessions while minimizing the overall buffer space requirement. Optimality of the proposed algorithm is shown by proof. The effectiveness and performance of the proposed scheme is examined via simulation.

  • This paper introduces a load-balancing algorithm focusing on distributing web requests evenly into the web cluster servers. The load-balancing algorithms based on conventional periodic load-information update mechanism are not suitable for dynamic page applications, which are common in Cyber Foraging services, due to the problems caused by periodic synchronized load-information updating and the difficulties of work load estimation caused by embedded executing scripts of dynamic pages. Update-on-Finish algorithm solves this problem by using non-periodic load-update mechanism, and the web switch knows the servers' real load information only after their reporting and then distributes new loads according to the new load-information table, however it results in much communication overhead. Our proposed mechanism improve update-on-finish algorithm by using K-Percents-Finish mechanism and thus largely reduce the communication overhead. Furthermore, we consider the different capabilities of servers with a threshold Ti value and propose a load-balancing algorithm for servers with various capabilities. Simulation results show that the proposed K-Percents-Finish Reporting mechanism can at least reduce 50% communication overhead than update-on-finish approach while sustaining better load balancing performance than periodic mechanisms in related work.

  • Recently BIM technology has been expanded for using in construction project. However its spread has been delayed than the initial expectations, due to the high-cost of BIM infrastructure development, the lack of regulations, the lack of process and so forth. In design phase, especially, collaboration based on BIM system has being a key factor for successful next generation building project. Through the analysis of current research trend about IT technologies, virtualization and BIM service, data exchange such as drawing, 3D model, object data, properties using cloud computing and virtual server system is defined as a most successful solution. In various industrial fields, cloud computing technology is utilized as a promising solution which can reduce time and cost of hardware infrastructure. Among the cloud computing technology, VDI is receiving a great deal of attention from it market as an essential part cloud computing. VDI enables to host multiple individual virtual machines by using hypervisor. It has an advantage to easy main device management. Therefore, this study implements a step-by-step user's DaaS by analyzing the desktop resource data of the workers from Pre-design phase to Schematic design, Design develop and Construction design phase. It also develops BIM environment based on test of BIM modeler and designers in architectural design firm. The goal of the study is to enable the cloud computing BIM server. It provides cost saving, high-performance quality of working environment and cooperation's convenience and high security when doing BIM work in small and medium sized architectural design firm.
