A Wireless Temperature Control System based on FPGA (FPGA기반의 무선 온도 제어 시스템)

  • In this paper, we designed and built a wired temperature controller system which is based on ASIC for a wireless temperature controller system based on FPGA. FPGA devices and wireless controller systems are growing quickly especially for industrial systems for sensing temperature and humidity. FPGA can set up a desired system and a CPU, and directly set up or change a peripheral device based on an IP quickly for an affordable price. This wireless system is easy to install in the field where there are lots of changes and the system is complex. It also has advantages for maintenance. In this study, we are using a 32 bit RISC CPU based on MicroBlaze, with a touch interface, peripheral device, and porting the embedded Linux. Also, we added wireless communication using ZigBee. With this system we provide remote monitoring and control through the web by adding a web server. Compared to the original system, we say not only a performance improvement, but also more efficient development and cheaper costs. In this study, we focused especially on building a better development environment and a more effective user interface.

Emotion-based Gesture Stylization For Animated SMS (모바일 SMS용 캐릭터 애니메이션을 위한 감정 기반 제스처 스타일화)

  • To create gesture from a new text input is an important problem in computer games and virtual reality. Recently, there is increasing interest in gesture stylization to imitate the gestures of celebrities, such as announcer. However, no attempt has been made so far to stylize a gestures using emotion such as happiness and sadness. Previous researches have not focused on real-time algorithm. In this paper, we present a system to automatically make gesture animation from SMS text and stylize the gesture from emotion. A key feature of this system is a real-time algorithm to combine gestures with emotion. Because the system's platform is a mobile phone, we distribute much works on the server and client. Therefore, the system guarantees real-time performance of 15 or more frames per second. At first, we extract words to express feelings and its corresponding gesture from Disney video and model the gesture statistically. And then, we introduce the theory of Laban Movement Analysis to combine gesture and emotion. In order to evaluate our system, we analyze user survey responses.

  • Theme park automation system is developed by using the RFID sensor reader, IIS web server, ASP.NET and MSSQL database in this paper. Its operation is that park entrance people checked automatically when he who possessed the ta8 passed the reader acquisition bound and its tag information is sent to the host computer through the RS-232 data acquisition system. Tag information and time data will be stored in the RFID database tables and reused to extract and distribute the entrance people for the purpose of each arrangement of each entertainment devices. First of all, we developed interface program between host and reader and then, programmed the related web site and database connection function using ASP.NET with $C\#$ and MSSQ. We also design and make an production of external Ant. to extend the acquisition range up to $30\~40$ cm using copper PCB plate. We confirmed the performance through the RFID test bed site.

  • Recently, the development paradigm of enterprise information system has been moved from 2-tier environment to 3-tier environment. 3-tier environment makes possible to develop more efficient system in terms of the performance, extension, deployment and maintenance. The ship drawing process management system which manages a long-term drawing process and a great number of designers has to support an accuracy and a real-time of information but it is impossible because it is still served in 2-tier environment and some process of them is not developed yet. In this paper, we implemented the analysis and design of system based on CBD(Component Based Development) for the purpose of hanging the environment from two-dimensional Client/server architecture environment to COM+ based 3-tier architecture environment. And by completing a development of total system, the productivity and the efficiency of the ship drawing process management system will be improved. And a wide reuse of components makes possible to improve the productivity and efficiency of system.

  • Smartphones and smartpads have a lot of advantages such as high convenience and portability. Also, they can effectively manage enormous amounts of information based on their high performance and plentiful applications. As such devices have been frequently used, many users manage various types of information using the devices. Recently, during conferences or seminars, smart device users often try to utilize stored resources on their devices and present them visually. Unfortunately, since smart devices have small displays, there is an essential difficulty in visual sharing of information. In this paper, we propose a method which integrates screens of several android smart devices and supports sharing of the integrated screen through a large display, presenting a screen sharing system for android smart devices. The developed system integrates display screens of several smart devices into a screen and shows the integrated screen through a large display connected to a desktop computer. In addition, to support the effective sharing of screens, the system provides functions for adjusting the number and the size of screens on a large display. The functions are controlled on a smart device and/or a desktop computer.

Network Adaptive ARQ Error Control Scheme for Effective Video Transport over IP Networks (IP 망을 통한 비디오 전송에 효율적인 망 적응적 ARQ 오류제어 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an effective network-adaptive ARQ based error control scheme to provide video streaming services through IP networks where packet error usually occurs. If time delay and feedback channel are allowed, client can request server to retransmit lost packets through IP networks. However, if retransmission is unconditionally requested without considering network condition and number of simultaneous feedback messages, retransmitted packets may not arrive in a timely manner so that decoding may not occur. In the proposed ARQ, a client conditionally requests retransmission based on assumed network condition, and it further determines valid retransmission time so that effective ARQ can be applied. In order to verify the performance of the proposed adaptive ARQ based error control, NIST-Net is used to emulate packet-loss network environment. It is shown by simulations that the proposed scheme provides noticeable error resilience with significantly reduced traffics required for ARQ.

Design of Network-adaptive Transmission Architecture for Guaranteeing the Quality of Virtualization Service (가상화 서비스의 QoS 보장을 위한 네트워크 적응적인 전송 구조 설계)

  • Virtualization service processes all operation including the data creation, storing, and disposal in a server and transmits processed data as the streaming media form. Therefore, client can use the same environment as the traditional desktop environment without considering the type of device. Virtualization service should consider not only the video quality but also the delay bounds and continuity of video playback for improving the user perceived Quality of Service(QoS) of streaming service. In this paper, we propose a network-adaptive transmission architecture that focuses on guaranteeing QoS requirements for virtualization service. In order to provide those, the proposed architecture have the transmission rate adaptation function based on available bandwidth and the content bit-rate control function based on sender buffer state. Through each function, proposed architecture guarantee the delay bounds and continuity of virtualization contents playback. The simulation results show that proposed network-adaptive transmission architecture provides a improve performance of throughput and transmission delay.

Four Consistency Levels in Trigger Processing (트리거 처리 4 단계 일관성 레벨)

  • An asynchronous trigger processor (ATP) is a oftware system that processes triggers after update transactions to databases are complete. In an ATP, discrimination networks are used to check the trigger conditions efficiently. Discrimination networks store their internal states in memory nodes. TriggerMan is an ATP and uses Gator network as the .discrimination network. The changes in databases are delivered to TriggerMan in the form of tokens. Processing tokens against a Gator network updates the memory nodes of the network and checks the condition of a trigger for which the network is built. Parallel token processing is one of the methods that can improve the system performance. However, uncontrolled parallel processing breaks trigger processing semantic consistency. In this paper, we propose four trigger processing consistency levels that allow parallel token processing with minimal anomalies. For each consistency level, a parallel token processing technique is developed. The techniques are proven to be valid and are also applicable to materialized view maintenance.

A Dual Transcoding Method for Retaining QoS of Video Streaming Services under Restricted Computing Resources (동영상 스트리밍 서비스의 QoS유지를 위한 듀얼 트랜스코딩 기법)

  • Video transcoding techniques provide an efficient mechanism to make a video content adaptive to the capabilities of a variety of clients. However, it is hard to provide an appropriate quality-of-service(QoS) to the clients owing to heavy workload on transcoding operations. In light of this fact, this paper presents the dual transcoding method in order to guarantee QoS in streaming services by maximizing resource usage in a transcoding server equipped with both CPU and GPU computing units. The CPU and GPU computing units have different architectural features. The proposed method speculates workload of incoming transcoding requests and then schedules the requests either to the CPU or GPU accordingly. From performance evaluation, the proposed dual transcoding method achieved a speedup of 1.84 compared with traditional transcoding approach.

Design and Performance Analysis of A Novel P2P-SIP Architecture for Network-based Mobility Support in Intelligent Home Networks (지능형 홈네트워크에서 네트워크 기반의 이동성 지원을 위한 P2P-SIP 구조의 설계 및 성능분석)

  • Home network providers have many worries about providing home network services with an expandable, reliable, flexible and low-cost structure according to the expanding market environment. The existing client-server system has various problems such as complexity and high costs in providing home network services. In this paper we propose the P2P-SIP structure. P2P communication terminal supporting access of distributed resources provides functions which the existing SIP-based network devices have. Because diverse terminals in a home network access through networks, also, partitioning network domains with home gateways to manage, and applying the network-based PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6) technology considering mobility of terminals would help to have a more efficient home network structure. Especially, the proposed P2P-SIP structure proves itself as a very efficient structure to have an outstanding expandability among different home networks in a region, and to reduce maintenance costs.
