  • Integrated circuit of a new neuron chain with a synapse function for Hodgkin-Huxley model which is a good electrical model about a real biological neuron is implemented in a $0.5{\mu}m$ 1 poly 2 metal CMOS technology. Pulse type neuron chain consist of series connected current controlled single neurons through synapses. For the realization of the single neuron, a pair of voltage mode oscillators using operational transconductance amplifiers and capacitors is used. The synapse block which is a connection element between neurons consist of a voltage-current conversion circuit using current mirror. SPICE simulation results of the proposed circuit show 160 mV amplitude pulse output and propagation of the signal through synapses. Measurements of the fabricated pulse type neuron chip in condition of ${\pm}2.5\;V$ power supply are shown and compared with the simulated results.

  • A series of connection tests of portal frames which were composed of cold-formed steel studs and rafters was carried out to study the moment-rotation relation, the rotational rigidity, and the yield and the ultimate moment of the connections. The main factors of the tests were the thickness, the shape of the connecting members which were made of mild steel, and the torsional restraints of the test specimens. The test results were compared with those obtained through the non-linear analysis, for verification. The secant stiffness estimated from the experimental moment-rotation curve was proposed for the rotational rigidity of semi-rigid connections, and its validity was verified in the structural frame analysis.

  • The Szentgotthard Flood Protection Project is located in the southeasters part of Austria, very close to the Hungarian border and to the Hungarian town of Szentgotthard situated near the Junction of the rivers Lafnitz and Raab. During heavy rainstorms, this area has always been liable to severe floodings, affecting the town itself and upstream reaches, where major industrial and commercial development is planned. In order to solve these problems, several solutions have been developed by means of a series of model tests performed at the hydraulic laboratory of the Technical University of Graz, Austria. The model was constructed to scales 1:75 (lengths) and 1:25 (heights). This trebled scale allowed greater accuracy in the measurement of discharge depths. The results from the model tests have led to the following proposals: - Construction of a flood relief trough with an inflow section 3.5 km upstream of the junction of the rivers Lafnitz and Raab. - Use of a former river bed for the flood relief trough. - Design of a lowered embankment crest section to pass one-third of the maximum flood flow of the river Lafnitz. - Connection of the flood relief trough to the Lahnbach stream, a tributary of the river Raab.

  • The damage of greenhouse has been increasing due to frequent collapse of frame in greenhouse caused by the heavy snow and strong wind. But, greenhouses are constructed by steel tube members of pipe style and pin connection of them, so these greenhouses are very weak. Therefore, this study was carried out to find the type of member section and structural frame system in stress tolerant greenhouses. The modeling types for analysis were designed in accordance with structural frame configuration and member section in greenhouse. These types of models, which are existing type, diagrid type, symmetric and asymmetric section type of frame member in greenhouse were classified. Displacement analysis varying the vertical and horizontal loads for a series of models was carried out. As a result of this paper, it was verified that the structural frame configuration of diagrid type and asymmetric type of member section is better than existing type in the frame of greenhouses against snow loads and wind loads.

  • Influence of the adaptors on the calibration of $100{\mu}H$ inductance standard was studied as a function of torque, applied when tightening the standard inductor terminal with the adaptor. Two different homemade adaptors of BPO gold-plated brass (BPO-Au) and banana-copper (BN-Cu) were made for the connection between the LCR meter and the inductance standard. The measured inductance (L) of the standard inductor and the contact resistance ($R_C$) between the adaptor and the standard inductor terminal showed exponential decreases against the torque increase from $25cN{\cdot}m$ to $150cN{\cdot}m$. The measured L and the calculated equivalence series resistance ($R_S$) were dependent on the adaptor type as well as on the $R_C$. The results of the adaptor analysis imply that the BPO-Au adaptor with the lower $R_C$ is more suitable for the inductance calibration. The calculated inductance of $99.956{\mu}H$ corrected by subtraction of the adaptor inductance and the contact resistance contributions from the measured value using the BPO-Au adaptor agreed well with the certificate ($99.948{\mu}H$) of the PTB within the measurement uncertainty of $140{\mu}H/H$.

  • Probabilistic Risk Assessment considering statistically random variables is performed for the preliminary design of a Arch Bridge. Component reliabilities of girders have been evaluated using the response surfaces of the design variables at the selected critical sections based on the maximum shear and negative moment locations. Response Surface Method (RSM) is successfully applied for reliability analyses for this relatively small probability of failure of the complex structure, which is hard to be obtained by Monte-Carlo Simulations or by First Order Second Moment Method that can not easily calculate the derivative terms of implicit limit state functions. For the analysis of system reliability, parallel resistance system composed of girders is changed into parallel series connection system. The upper and lower probabilities of failure for the structural system have been evaluated and compared with the suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes. The suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes reveals the unexpected combinations of element failures in significant]y reduced time and efforts compared with the previous permutation method or system reliability analysis method.

  • Power capacitor is generally installed to compensate for the low power factor of inductive load But it has been used as passive filter to reduce harmonics generated by the power conversion device. Passive filter is composed by the series connection of reactor and capacitor. Because passive filter has play an important role on the absorber of harmonics, it takes voltage and current stress, follows partially burned on flamed and degradation, finally it has not guaranteed normal life. In this paper, we analyzed the effect that passive filter installed at the source side of PWM inverter is received by harmonics absorption.

  • In this paper, a new basic unit is proposed. Then, a cascaded multilevel inverter basded on the series connection of n number of these new basic units is proposed. In order to generate all of the voltage levels (even and odd) at the output, three different algorithms to determine the magnitude of the dc voltage source are proposed. Reductions in the number of power switches, driver circuits and dc voltage sources in addition to increases in the numbr of output voltage levels are some of the advantages of the proposed cascaded multilevel inverter. These results are obtained through a comparison of the proposed inverter and its algorithms with an H-bridge cascaded multilevel inverter from the point of view of the number of power electronic devices. Finally, the capability of the proposed topology with its proposed algorithms in generating all of the voltage levels is verified through experimental results on a laboratorary prototype of a 49-level inverter.

  • In inverted T-shape composite beam examine the structural behavior by experiment According to arrangement, type of stud connector, type of shear connector, reinforcement by welding of stirrup and a close analysis we came to these conclusion. 1) The compare result of bending strength according to arrange type of stud connector : A1-W(stud connector located web)specimen is exceed than A1-F(stud connector located flange). 2) B1-N(using prominence and depression of the web by shear connector) specimen is decrease than A1-W(using stud bolt by shear connector)specimen in bending strength and B2-N(reinforced by welding the stirrup to lower flange)specimen is similar with A2-W specimen. 3) According to reinforced by welding the stirrup to flange, the stiffness and bending strength of the beams are increase. A-scries stirrup comparatively low effective in the increase of strength by welding the stirrup to flange because enough composite effect show by stud connector, but B-series stirrup is comparatively high effective in shear connector effect because shortage of prominence and depression of the web.

  • In this paper, a closed-loop system constructed with a linear plant and nonlinearity in the feedback connection is considered to argue against its planar orbital stability. Through a state space approach, a main result that presents a sufficient stability criterion of the limit cycle predicted by solving the harmonic balance equation is given. Preliminarily, the harmonic balance of the nonlinear feedback loop is assumed to have a solution that determines the characteristics of the limit cycle. Using a state-space approach, the nonlinear loop equation is reformulated into a linear perturbed model through the introduction of a residual operator. By considering a series of transformations, such as a modified eigenstructure decomposition, periodic averaging, change of variables, and coordinate transformation, the stability of the limit cycle can be simply tested via a scalar function and matrix. Finally, the stability criterion is addressed by constructing a composite Lyapunov function of the transformed system.
