Recently, separation membranes have been applied to fields such as water supply, sewage treatment, gray water reuse, and air pollution control. Chemical cleaning technology is attracting attention among the methods of reusing these expensive separation membranes. It was found that the separation membrane could be regenerated using chemical cleaning. Specifically, it was found that the use time of the separation membranes regenerated by chemical cleaning was sustainable for more than 1,700 hours. Additionally, it was found that the flux recovery ratio after chemical cleaning was maintained at least 60%. In addition, the flux recovery ratio of HYDREX 4710, an organic membrane cleaner, and 4703, an inorganic membrane cleaner, was 76% and 62%, respectively, showing the highest flux recovery ratio among the chemicals used. Considering that the target raw water of this study is biological secondary treatment water, it was suggested that chemical cleaning could be actively used to regenerate separation membranes in future water treatment.
Composite membranes with a titania layer were prepared by soaking-rolling method with the titania sol of nanoparticles formed in the sol-gel process and investigated regarding the vapor permeation of various organic mixtures. The support modification was conducted by pressing $SiO_2$ xerogel of 500 nm in particle size under 10 MPa on the surface of a porous stainless steel (SUS) substrate and designed the multi-layered structure by coating the intermediate layer of ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$. Microstructure of titania membrane was affected by heat-treatment and synthesis conditions of precursor sol, and titania formed at calcination temperature of 300$^{\circ}C$ with sol of [$H^+$]/[TIP]=0.3 possessed surface area of 210 $m^2$/g, average pore size of 1.25 nm. The titania composite membrane showed high $H_2/N_2$ selectivity and water/ethanol selectivity as 25-30 and 50-100, respectively. As a result of vapor permeation for water-alcohol and alcohol-alcohol mixture, titania composite membrane showed water-permselective and molecular-sieve permeation behavior. However, water/methanol selectivity of the membrane was very low because of chemical affinity of permeants for the membrane by similar physicochemical properties of water and methanol.
When bioethanol and water are mixed at a proper ratio, phase separation can occur because of the immiscibility of biobutanol with water. Phase separation in bioethanol blends fuels is a major problem for gasoline vehicle users due to effect of octane number and component corrosion. Thus, in this study, the phase separation of bioethanol was examined effect of bioethanol blends (E3 (3 vo.% bioethanol in gasoline), E5 and E10) in presence of water. The effect were evaluated behavior with phase separation test, simulation test of fuel tank in gas station according to water addition volume and it was investigated change of water content, bioethanol content and octane number for gasoline phase in bioethanol blends (E3, E5 and E10) every 1 week after water addition. The E3 occurred phase separation more easily than the E5 and E10 in small water contents because solubility of water on ethanol content difference in gasoline-ethanol. It was kept a initial level of water content, bioethanol content, and octane number by repeated sample replacing in simulation test of fuel tank.

Static ejection tests were conducted using the 2,000lb-Class Store to provide ejector model for the store separation simulation. In this study, static ejection test device for 2,000lb-class store was constructed and reaction force applied to store was measured over time. In addition, the trajectories of the ejected store were obtained using photogrammetry and compared with the simulations using developed ejector model. The results of the static ejection test were analyzed to determine the cartridge-orifice combination to be used for store separation. Flight tests were performed by applying the analysis results and verified that the store was safely separated from the aircraft.
We present a new technique for achieving source separation when given only a single charmel recording. The main idea is based on exploiting the inherent time structure of sound sources by learning a priori sets of time-domain basis functions that encode the sources in a statistically efficient manner. We derive a learning algorithm using a maximum likelihood approach given the observed single charmel data and sets of basis functions. For each time point we infer the source parameters and their contribution factors. This inference is possible due to the prior knowledge of the basis functions and the associated coefficient densities. A flexible model for density estimation allows accurate modeling of the observation, and our experimental results exhibit a high level of separation performance for simulated mixtures as well as real environment recordings employing mixtures of two different sources. We show separation results of two music signals as well as the separation of two voice signals.
Magnetic separation is expected to be applied for material refinement as an important supporting technology. In the superconducting magnetic separation, the cohesive force between particles is strong compared with that in the other magnetic separation. The use of high magnetic field by the superconducting magnet enhances the magnetic substance capture ability of the magnetic separation. Industrial raw materials was used for the superconducting magnetic separation. Cry-cooled, NB-Ti superconducting magnet with. 100 mm room temperature bore and 600 mm of height was used for magnetic separator.
In this paper, we have proposed a simple finite element model for separation mode analysis on the roadwheel and track assembly of main battle tank and established a contact stress-based mechanism which could explain the initiation and growth of separation defect occurred during the test of padreplacable track. It was proved that the longitudinal contact shear stress component on the pin hole region of the track shoe body which is parallel to the driving direction is consistent with the crack initiation at the bonding surface between track shoe and wheel-side rubber. The longitudinal shear stress increased locally near the separated region after the separation initiated. So we could assume that the local stress concentration accelerates the separation growth according to the shear mode.
Cyclone is one of the most widely used gas - solid separation devices in industries. In spite of its many advantages, lower separation efficiency and flat separation curve are usually associated with cyclones. Therefore, the primary goal of cyclone research is to improve its separation capability while retaining its basic features. In this study, granules were filled in the cone of a cyclone in an attempt to increase the cyclone separation efficiency through the combination of granular filtration and centrifugal separation. The extraction and separation of glabridin from licorice root by HPLC was performed in this work. First, by investigating the different extraction solvents, extraction methods and extraction times, a one-hour ultrasonic extraction procedure with ethyl acetate as the extraction solvent was optimized. Then the ethyl acetate extraction was applied to RP-HPLC for separation of glabridin. The column efficiencies and resolutions were experimentally investigated with different mobile phase compositions. Baseline separation of glabridin was obtained under the mobile phase composition of 50/50 vol.% (ACN/water). The retention time of glabridin was 20.3 min. The peak of glabridin was collected from the HPLC elution for several times and identified by LC/MS. Under the optimum extraction and HPLC separation methods, 1.26 g of glabridin per kg licorice root could be extracted.
