Numerical Investigation on Internal Flow Field of a Single-Stage Transonic Axial Compressor (수치해석을 활용한 1단 천음속 압축기 내부 유동장 분석)

  • Numerical simulations on a single stage transonic compressor which is developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute are carried out and their results are compared with experimental data for cross validations. Comparisons between experimental data and numerical simulation results show good agreements on a performance curve, static pressure and total pressure distributions. CFD results show that there is a clear interaction between tip leakage flow and normal shock in the rotor passage. Tip leakage flows are almost dissipated after the strong normal shock and it forms a strong recirculation near the blade tip. Also a large separation region grows on the suction surface just after the normal shock. As the pressure ratio and blade loading increase, the normal shock line moves upstream and it starts to deviate from the blade leading edge. Then the tip leakage flow does not overcome the strong adverse pressure gradient and flow blockage originated from the tip recirculation region. As a result, the tip leakage flow heads for the neighboring blade leading edge, which results in a compressor stall.

  • This study analyzes presentation methods of traffic guide maps to guide drivers easily and correctly to their destinations on complex road networks. The problems of Korea's guidance systems were analyzed and domestic and international road guide maps were compared. This study includes the problems of road number discernment, such as the sizes, colors and marking intervals on the map. The widths and colors of different hierarchical roads were evaluated. The indices, enlarged downtown maps and uncertainty of grade separation on the map were analyzed and the solutions were also provided.

  • This study analyzed the group of experts who were related to cubism, selected among the works of 2010~2013 Paris Collection based on F.G.R.(Focus Group Research). According to the results of this study, there were appeared first, 'a one-piece dress' second, 'H silhouette' third, 'cotton', in case of item distribution and frequency. The analysis was done by using the manner of expression, cubical expression, exaggeration, distortion, dismantlement, geometrical division of face, mix-match look, wraparound repetition, asymmetric structure, etc. Based on the outcomes of the analysis on figurative design elements, this study adjusted three manners appearing on cubism fashion style. First, it was 'avant garde manner' of constitution or 'dismantlement' which was compiled into multi-view representations of overlaps and viewpoints by repetitive use of color tone trimming detail. Second, it was 'geomagnetic block placement' which expresses cubism with geometric partitioning of surface and separation of panel by cutting disintegration. Finally, it was 'distortion and simplification of silhouette' which is a distortion created by constitution-line pressed thin with silhouette. It maximizes the beauty of human body outline, which was distorted by three-dimensional-manipulation, and simplified by ellipsis for another shape for the extension or expansion of detail trimming.

An Evaluation of Fatigue Properties on Dissimilar Friction Weld of Heat-Resisting Steels Used in Vehicle Valves (차량 밸브용 내열강재 이종 마찰용접부의 피로특성 평가)

  • The fatigue crack propagation characteristics were investigated on dissimilar friction weld of two kind of heat-resisting steels (STR3 and STR35) commonly used in valve materials for vehicles. A small circular artificial defect was machined to induce fatigue crack at bonded line, heat affected zone and base metal of the weld on the surface of the specimens. From the results of the experiment, the fatigue limits of the materials STR3 and STR35 were obtained to be 429.0MPa and 409.4MPa respectably. The STR35 base metal and 1.0mm HAZ specimens showed 190% and 82% higher fatigue life than STR3 base metal. And the fatigue life of 1.0mm HAZ specimen was shown 99% on STR3 and 29% on STR35 higher than that of their base metal. But the fatigue life of weld interface specimen was shown 18% on STR3 and 72% on STR35 lower than that of their base metal because of the weld interface separation.

  • In this paper, we made an analysis of the effective optical pulse stream generation. This is different from conventional approaches, which use fiber or waveguide delay line circuits. The optical pulse multiplication phenomenon occurs when the optical pulse's spectral width is greater than the transfer bandwidth of the coupler used. Therefore, the effective optical pulse stream generation can be controlled by using fiber couplers with different equivalent transfer bandwidths. The pulse separation spacing is controlled by number of cascaded coupler in optical loop mirror coupler scheme.

Biological Treatment of OCC Flake in Fine Screen Rejects for Recovery of Fibrous Materials (생물학적 처리에 의한 OCC 스크린 리젝트 내 미해리분의 재활용)

  • The increase of using low grade ace, the unsorted mixed grade, as fibrous raw materials for the packaging paper results in the increment of fine screen reject owing to the strong tendency to reduce the slot width. Since the most of screen reject consists of undispersed fiber flake, the suitable treatment of the flake could increase the yield of ace recycling and decrease the amount of solid waste. In this work, the novel method combined the mild mechanical treatment by using Tumbling pulper with the biological treatment was developed and applied to the wet strength flake and the fine screen tail line reject originated from a packaging paper mill. The results showed the new method could provide much better efficiency for the disintegration of undispersed flake and for the recovery of fiber from the rejects. The application of the laboratory scaled-Pack pulper showed the possible separation technique for mill application by fractioning effectively the fiber from the treated solid waste.

On Flow Field over a Fixed Dune (Sand Dune 주위유동장에 대하여)

  • The present study deals with turbulent flow over a long train of fixed two-dimensional dunes, identical in size and shape. A detailed study was carried out by PIV over a range of flow depths in a fully developed region. The present study confirmed the global features of flow past a fired dune noticed in previous studies, i.e. the size and shape of the reverse flow, the mean velocity and turbulence profiles across the separated and attached flows. The turbulence and shear stress profiles reveal the presence of larger values along the line extending from crest to crest. At stations ahead of the dune crest, the presence of a peak in the streamwise turbulence profiles around y/h = 2 indicates the sustenance of turbulence generated in the separation zone of the previous zone which will be carried over to the next dune.

Modeling of Liquid Entrainment and Vapor Pull-Through in Header-Feeder Pipes of CANDU

  • The liquid entrainment and vapor pull-through offtake model of RELAP5/MOD3 had been developed for SBLOCA (Small Break Loss of Coolant Accident). The RELAP5/MOD3 model for horizontal volumes accounts for the phase separation phenomena and computes the flux of mass and energy through a branch when stratified conditions occur in the horizontal pipe. In the case of CANDU reactor, this model should be used in the coolant flow of 95 feeders connected to the reactor header component under the horizontal stratification in header. The current RELAP5 model can treat the only 3 directions junctions; vertical upward, downward, and side oriented junctions, and thus improvements for the liquid entrainment and vapor pull-through model were needed for considering the exact angles. The RELAP5 off-take model was modified and generalized by considering the geometric effect of branching angles. Based on the previous experimental results, the critical height correlation was reconstructed by use of the branch line connection angle and validation analyses were also performed using SET. The new model can be applied to vertical upward, downward and angled branch, and the accuracy of the new correlations is more improved than that of RELAP5.

A method for predicting the aerodynamic performance of low-speed airfoils (저속익형의 공기역학적 성능예측의 한 방법)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a method for predicting the aerodynamic performance of the low speed airfoils in the 2-dimensional, steady and viscous flow. For this study, the airfoil geometry is specified by adopting the longest chord line system and by considering local surface curvature. In case of the inviscid incompressible flow, the analysis is accomplished by the linearly varying strength vortex panel method and the Karman-Tsien correction law is applied for the inviscid compressible flow analysis. The Goradia integral method is adopted for the boundary layer analysis of the laminar and turbulent flows. Viscous and inviscid solutions are converged by the Lockheed iterative calculating method using the equivalent airfoil geometry. The analysis of the separated flow is performed using the Dvorak and Maskew's method as the basic method. The wake effect is also considered by expressing its geometry using the formula of Summey and Smith when no separation occurs. The computational efficiency is verified by comparing the computational results with experimental data and by the shorter execution time.

버섯균사체 배양물로부터 면역증진 기능성 소재 개발

  • This study relates to low and medium molecular weight isoflavone-${\beta}$-D-glucan produced by submerged liquid culture of Agaricus blazei, a method of producing the isoflavone-B-D-glucan using autolysis enzyme of Agaricus blazei mycelia, and use of the isoflavone-B-D-glucan for anti-cancer and immunoenhancing effect. In acordance with one aspect of the present study, it deals with a method of producing isoflavone-${\beta}$-D-glucan, which comprises the followings; 1) culturing and separating mushroom mycelia, 2) producing low-medium molecular weight isoflavone-${\beta}$-D-glucan from high molecular weight one. The cytotoxicity on human cnacer cell line (Caco-2, MCF-7), the expression of Cyclin D, Bcl-2, Bax protein, p21 protein, p53 protein in MCF-7 cells assessed by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting, and other immuno related factor such as TNF-a and IL-1B activities were examined. Structural identification of isoflavone-${\beta}$-D-glucan which shoed cytotoxicity against cancer cell and immunoenhancing effects was carried by separation with DEAE-cellulose column chromatography, TLC, HPLC, IR, NMR, Clinical test for the cancer patients (n=119) for 6 month was carried out, and immunoenhancing factors(NK cell number, ratio of T4/T8) were checked. We concluded the identified isoflavone-${\beta}$-D-glucan has immuno enhancing effects and could be useful for cancer chemoprevention.
