  • The convex cone $\mathbb{V}_1$ generated by separable states is contained in the cone $\mathbb{T}$ of all positive semi-definite block matrices whose block transposes are also positive semi-definite. We characterize faces of the cone $\mathbb{V}_1$ induced by faces of the cone $\mathbb{T}$ which are determined by pairs of subspaces of matrices.

  • Grossman [7] showed that certain cyclically pinched 1-relator groups have residually finite outer automorphism groups. In this paper we prove that tree products of finitely generated free groups amalgamating maximal cyclic subgroups have residually finite outer automorphism groups. We also prove that polygonal products of finitely generated central subgroup separable groups amalgamating trivial intersecting central subgroups have residually finite outer automorphism groups.

  • In this report, we propose a non-separable two-dimensional (2D) Lossless Wavelet Transform (LWT) for image compression. Filter characteristics of our proposed LWT are the same as those or conventional 2D LWT based on applying 1D LWT twice but our coding performance is better due to reduction of rounding effects. Simulation results confirm effectiveness of our proposed LWT.

  • This paper presents a method for the automatic generation of assembly sequences based on the recursive extraction of a preferred part along with the verification of its disassemblability. To verify the disassemblability of the part we inference the geometric precedence constraints using a method of extracting separable directions for the part and determine the disassemblability cost by the separability and stability cost. The proosed method provides a local optimal solution of finding a cost effective assembly plan, and the feasibility of calculating robot motion programs by evaluating separable directions in flexible manufacturing application. A case study is given to illustrate the concepts and procedure of the proposed scheme.

  • For two distinct rank-1 matrices A and B, a rank-1 matrix C is called a separating matrix of A and B if the rank of A + C is 2 but the rank of B + C is 1 or vice versa. In this case, rank-1 matrices A and B are said to be separable. We show that every pair of distinct Boolean rank-l matrices are separable.

  • A function $f:{\Omega}{\rightarrow}X$ is called intrinsically-separable valued if there exists $E{\in}{\Sigma}$ with ${\mu}(E)=0$ such that $f({\Omega}-E)$ is a separable in X. For a given Dunford integrable function $f:{\Omega}{\rightarrow}X$ and a weakly compact operator T, we show that if f is intrinsically-separable valued, then f is Pettis integrable, and if there exists a sequence ($f_n$) of Dunford integrable and intrinsically-separable valued functions from ${\Omega}$ into X such that for each $x^*{\in}X^*$, $x^*f_n{\rightarrow}x^*f$ a.e., then f is Pettis integrable. We show that a function f is Pettis integrable if and only if for each $E{\in}{\Sigma}$, F(E) is $weak^*$-continuous on $B_{X*}$ if and only if for each $E{\in}{\Sigma}$, $M=\{x^*{\in}X^*:F(E)(x^*)=O\}$ is $weak^*$-closed.

  • For a given separable space X which contains no copy of $C_0$ and a weakly compact T, we show that a Dunford integrable function $f : [a,b] \to X$ is intrinsically-separable valued if and only if f is McShane integrable. Also, for a given separable space X which contains no copy of $C_0$, a weakly compact T and a Dunford integrable function f we show that if there exists a sequence $(f_n)$ of McShane integrable functions from [a,b] to X such that for each $x^* \in X^*, x^*f_n \to x^*f$ a.e., then f is McShane integrable. Finally, let X contain no copy of $C_0$. If $f : [a,b] \to X$ is McShane integrable, then F is a countably additive on $\sum$.

  • The non-separable quadratic penalty terms create an inherent difficulty when applying the standard augmented Lagrangian relaxation(ALR) method for decomposing the unit commitment problem into independent subproblems. This paper presents a separable augmented Lagrangian relaxation method for solving the unit commitment problem. The proposed method is designed to have a separable structure by introducing the quadratic terms with additional auxiliary terms in the augmented Lagrangian function. Numerical results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this note, we shall show that the generalized free products of subgroup separable groups amalgamating a subgroup which itself is a finite extension of a finitely generated normal subgroup of both the factor groups are weakly potent and cyclic subgroup separable. Then we apply our result to generalized free products of finite extensions of finitely generated torsion-free nilpotent groups. Finally, we shall show that their tree products are cyclic subgroup separable.
